Chapter 17

The Power of a Word

I don't own Inu-Yasha. :*( It still pains my heart to say that.

An hour and a half later Inu-Yasha and the group made it to his house. Inu-Yasha quickly left the car not even waiting for Jaken to open the door, or to see if the others were ready. Half ways up the steps Inu-Yasha heard a gasp and knew the others were on their way. However upon reaching the door and opening it with still no sound of the others climbing the stairs he had had enough and yelled back at them.

" Hey quit gawking at my house and move it!"

After saying this Inu-Yasha kept walking and soon heard Miroku and Sango behind him. Jaken was ahead of them and was opening the door due to Sango not letting him carry their bags. Sango not only had her blue and white duffle bag over one shoulder but Kagome's bag over the other. Sango trying to pack Kagome's things had been able to find a bag in the very back of Kagome's closet, a freakishly large yellow backpack. In this monstrous bag were some of Kagome's clothes and her jewelry box holding the Shikon no Tama. By now the group was climbing the many stairs and Inu-Yasha yelled to one of the maid to bring the house doctor up to his room.

" You have your own resident doctor?"

" Yea… Believe me Sango if you saw how my brother and I fight sometimes you'd understand."

After climbing the stairs they quick traveled down the long hall that was line with pictures of Inu-Yasha's mother till they reach a door right across from a red painted door. Quickly opening the door Inu-Yasha made his way to the bed with one hand pulled the blankets back and lied Kagome down then tucking her in again. Just as this was completed two women came to the door, brushing pass Miroku and Sango they went straight to Inu-Yasha. Bowing to him the elder of the two women dressed in a maid's uniform began to speak.

" Young Master Inu-Yasha I have brought the resident doctor she is new here since your prolonged absents, Miss Erin Greenrat." (Sorry if none of you guys reading this understand the name, it's a joke between my friends and me and way to hard to explain.)

" I don't care who you are just please help her."

" No worries young sir I'll do my best."

Erin said this then went to Kagome's side, after looking at her for a minute she said in dazed distant tone.

" What pretty hair this girl has."

As Erin pets Kagome's hair everyone else does an anime fall. After a moment the others started to pick themselves up when Erin turned and walk back around the bed and began pushing Inu-Yasha and the others out the door.

" Well come on, out all of you. How do you expect me to examine my patient?"

Everyone had been pushed out of the room and now stood in the hallway when Inu-Yasha spoke.

" Come on I'll give you guys a tour of my house."

(Earlier up stairs in Sesshoumaru's room)

<What is wrong with me? Why do I have this feeling? >

Sesshoumaru had been in his room all day and felt strangely upset and for some unknown reason all his thoughts had been returning to the strange but beautiful Kelly.

< I must get to the bottom of this. But how? Will she know? I must find out. >

With this newfound resolve Sesshoumaru began toward the door when another thought entered his head.

< What am I doing this girl will know nothing how could she? Why… Why do I feel possessed to see her she is nothing… nothing at all? >

' That's not true.'

< Yes it is >

As this argument raged on Sesshoumaru felt power begin to surge through him and then out of utter frustration he finally snapped and punched the wall making a nice sized hole. Breathing heavy Sesshoumaru looked at the wall and that was when he had had enough.

< I must go see her this isn't like me. >

With that he went down the stairs not even noticing the cuts on his hand, from the wall, where already healing and closing.

(The school still very evil looking)

Kikyo sat in a leather revolving chair listen as Naraku yelled at Kagura. While she listened she also kept an eye on a very strange small child with white hair, a white dress and empty eyes who held in her small hands a mirror.

" Kagura how could you? You had them! YOU HAD THE JEWEL!"

" It's not my fault no one said the others had awoken and would be there I couldn't take them all!"

Naraku seemed to see some truth in this because he turned sharply and stormed over to the empty eyed child. Picking her up by the collar of her dress holding her within inches of his face and roared at her.

" Why didn't you say anything Kanna!?! With that mirror you can see things, know things we don't. Why didn't you tell us!?!"

" You didn't ask."

" AHHHH!!! YOU!! Well let me be clear about this… Who will be next to awaken?"

Kanna brought her mirror up and looked into it and for once her eyes showed life, her body seem to energize and a smile crossed her face but soon disappeared again. Lowering the mirror she slowly looked up to Naraku and said.

" The next to awaken will not be alone for even now the star crossed ones stir. Next to come will be the lost one and the loyal dog."

" WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN !!??!!"

Naraku roared into Kanna's face and Kikyo couldn't hold it in any longer and laughed out right at Naraku's anger.

(Mansion with Inu-Yasha and the group)

Back at the mansion Inu-Yasha was just finishing the tour, when the quit of the house was destroyed by a women's scream. The trio turned on there heals and ran in the direction of the scream Inu-Yasha's bedroom. They reach the said room and burst through the door to see Kagome standing on the bed and Erin trying to convince her to lie back down.

" Kagome what's going on?"

" I'll tell you what's going on I wake up in a strange place with this nut stroking my head…"

Kagome had began talking with out turning but stopped mid sentences and turned to see Inu-Yasha for the first time and a light of understanding seemed to come to her face.

" This is your house. Your room to be precise."

" Ahh yea."

" OoooK … WHAT AM I DOING HERE YOU JERK!!! I was at my house how did I get here and who is she?"

Kagome yelled all but breaking the windows and pointed accusingly at Erin, who at this moment was finding her hands and fingers very interesting. Inu-Yasha's hand shot to his ears to block out some of the sound but as soon as she stopped he began to yell right back.

" Well excuse me for saving you and bringing you here for medical attention. I mean you only were knocked unconscious! Next time I'll let Kagura take you!"

" Your such a Jerk how could you even say that and where is my family if I'm here?"

" They said they were going to stay with family."

" Well why couldn't I go with them or to a hospital?"

" How could I protect you if your not here wench?"

" You!! -"

But as Kagome was about to finish her sentences something began to break through the barrier of time. A signal word that echoed through her brain with power yet as she tried to grab it to understand it, it became weak like a dream in morning light. But with a mental blast it fell from her lips.

" Sit."

The pray beads Inu-Yasha wore glowed in white light taking on a old decayed look before he plummeted to the ground.
