chapter 6: Why? (A/N: I know, stupid name for a chappy, but i couldn't think of anything else to write.)
Kagome had long since fallen asleep in the taiyoukai's gentle embrace. They'd been flying for nearly 2 hours now on Sesshomaru's cloud. Occasionally, he would stare down at the young miko, watching her peaceful face as she held his tail around her for extra warmth. Her scent was all around him, but hers wasn't the only one.
Sesshomary gently lowered onto the ground, letting his cloud disappear. He took in a deep breath, and became instantly aware of who it was.
"Kagura!" he yelled, causing Kagome to shift and wake up. "Show yorself." he set Kagome down carefuly and stepped in front of her as she drew her bow, knocking an arrow into place.
The wind witch stepped out from the trees she hid behind, smiling brightly. "What do we have here?" she puled out her fan, hiding half of her face behind it. "Dance of Blades!" she wasted no time attacking. Sesshomaru turned to lift Kagome and jump to safety. He left her on the side, he himself walked back to where the attack was focussed.
Drawing Toukijin. he aimed it towards Kagura, sending bolts of energy towards her. She smiled. "Kanna," Kagome gasped as she watched the younggirl step out from the trees as well, holding up her mirror. The attack immediately reflected back to the shocked taiyoukai. He didn't have time to move. His own attack collided with his body, sending him back into the trees.
Kagura laughed as she held up her fan. "Now, for your head." she said. "Ryujin no mai!" (A/N sorry if i spelled it wrong, i tried!)
"Sesshomaru!" Kagome yelled, jumping in the distructive path of the wind. Kagome was knocked back into Sesshomaru, but dispite the fact that she know had bleeding wounds all over her body, she stood up as fast as she could, aiming and letting her arrow fly. Kagura moved, but not enough, the arrow slammed into her arm.
She let out a scream of pain and pulled a feather from her hair, allowing her and Kanna departure.
Kagome turned to Sesshomaru. His eyes had widened greatly at her actions, and had yet to retyract. Kagome smiled before she collapsed. She was unconscience before the stunned youkai who stood and walked towards her, even though his armor was shattered, and his chest was bleeding, he lifted her once again into his arms.
Shaking his head at his bad luck, he took off towards his castle again, trying to fight the rising emotions from taking over. 'Why would she put herself in danger to save me?' he asked himself. he couldn't get her out of his mind now, and the fact that she was in his arms wasn't helping the situation.

Sango prepared the left over ramen in Kagome's back pack for dinner. Kikyo and Inu Yasha were sitting under a tree trying figure out what happened. Inu Yahsa was secretly grateful that his brother hadn't killed Kagome, but he'd never tell that to Kikyo! Shippo was happy and sad, his mother would live, but not with him. Sango and Miroku, however, had a feeling that by the wai the taiyoukai reacted, he and Kagome were getting rather close, but they wouldn't tell Inu Yasha. And Kirara, seemed to wear a knowing smile.
Sango tried her hardest to get along with Kikyo for Inu Yasha's sake. She spent a long time explaining some of the things from Kagome's era to her. But she decided to stop once she got to the 'photo book' as Kagome called it. There were pictures of everyone, but mostly of her and Inu Yasha and Sango didn't want her friend's belonging's to get ruined.
Inu Yasha would usually take Kikyo for a walk when Kagome came into a conversation. Whenever she'd turn her back Sango would pull out her Hiraikotsu only to put it back when Inu Yasha glred at her.
'Well get throught this.' she told herself over and over again. Sango had promised Shippo to try and find a way to see Kagome and get him to her. He was depressed a lot, the only thing keeping him from breaking down and crying was that fact that Kagome was safe with the taiyoukai, and with him, no danger would come to her. Telling him that always made Shippoo happier.
"Would you hurry it up Sango I'm hungry damnit!"
"If I could sit you you'd be dead by now Inu Yasha!" Sango yelled.
"Now now Sango, right now isn't the time for arguing." Miroku said in hopes of stopping the fighting. Luckily for him, Sango turned back to the ramen and Inu Yasha looked away. "Feh." he said staring down at the monk from the tree before averting his heated gaze to the forest.
Miroku sighed and layed a hand on Sango's shoulder. "Kagome-sama is fine Sango. It'll be alright."
Sesshomaru reached his castle not too long after the attack. Kagome remained unconscience in his arms. He flew into his balcony and laid Kagome on his bed. He didn't want Rin to see Kagome like this and he didn't want Jaken or any of the other servants to bother him at the moment.
Sesshomaru crefully removed her kimono. It was torn from the attack from Kagura. Sesshomaru had to refrain from wrinkling his nose, the smell of blood was strong. Usually, blood wasn't THAT bad, but it was worse somehow since the blood belonged to Kagome. Sesshomaru walked to find a bowl of water and a cloth, and return to Kagome's side.
He ran the wet clothe over her body, removing the blood that stained her skin. Once he was content that her skin was its normal tone, he got rid of the now crimson water and disposed of the bloodied cloth. Sesshomaru pulled the blankets to her chin and left his room to tend to his own wounds.

Sango, I wanna go with Kagome!" Shippo had been crying all morning.
"It's alright, I promise we'll get you to her. In fact, we're heading to the western lands!" Sango said.
"We're what?!" Miroku asked.
"Well Miroku, if Inu Yasha isn't going to save Kagome, what choice do we have? We can't leave her with Sesshomaru and if you're not going to come, I'll go by myself along with Kirara and Shippo."
Miroku stared at Sango. .He knew she would do it, but he didn't want to know what could possibly happen to her during her journey. Shippo was thanking Sango over and over again, praising her as if she were his savior, and in this case she was!
"Alright Sango, I'll acompany you, but we must tell Inu Yasha so he doesn't wonder if we left him." Miroku said.
"Who cares if he thinks we abandon him, he left Kagome to her death." Shippo cried in defense.
"Yes, you're right but Inu Yasha is our friend and I'm sure that he's helped you out of life and death situations in the past which gives him a right to at least be told, even if we aren't going to listen to his defense." Miroku was trying to compromise, and he knew that the previous statement would earn Shippo's attention.
"Oh, alright. We'll tell him tonight. It's best if we set out after dark." Sango agreed.

Kagome awoke an hour later and sat up, the memories of the fight reappearing in her mind. Kagome removed the blankets to find herself in only her undergarments, but free from all blood. Kagome blushed thinking that it was probably Sesshomaru who cleaned her wounds from Kagura. Kagome pulled the sheets up once more when she heard the door open.
"You're up, Are you feeling better?" Sesshomaru came in and sat on the bed next to her.
"Um, yeah, thanks." she said. For a while, they just sat there, content just being in eachothers' presence.
'Why did she save me?' Sesshomaru questioned over and over again never recieving an answer.
Kagome was thinking to. 'Why did he react that way towards Inu Yahsa's words? And why did he bring me back here and care for me?'
Decideing that the silence was lasting too long, they both spoke, at the same time.
"Why?" Kagome and Sesshomaru stared onto eachothers' eyes, seemingly lost in the depths of the other person's gaze. They each noticed the emotions flashing through the other's eyes.
Kagome was the first to break free from her phaze. "Sesshomaru, thank you for protecting me, and bringing me back here, but why did you do it?" she asked.
"Well Kagome, I honestly do not know." he admitted. He knew it had something to do with these knew emotions that would surface when she was near him, but wasn't sure what they were. He didn't think that they were very good though, nor did he welcome the feelings.
Sesshomaru was the next to pop the question. "Why did you try to save me from Kagura, wounding yourself in the process?"
"I guess, because I care Sesshomaru. I can't say why, but I didn't want you getting hurt by Kagura." she paused for a moment before finishing. "I didn't want you getting hurt by any one." Kagome instantlylooked away, regretting the words. She didn't know how the cold-hearted taiyoukai would react towhat she said, but she didn't think that it would be very pleasing.
Sesshomaru was stunned. His eyes widened noticably as he watched her turn away. Her scent told him that she was nervous, but more than that, she was scared. 'She's scared of my reaction.' Sesshomaru didn't want her to be afraid of him, he wanted to let her know that he didn't want her to be hurt either, ever, by anyone. But his damn pride was getting in his way of doing so.
Sesshomaru hooked his clawed finger and lifted her chin to look into her eyes. Kagome watched as his face inched closer towards hers. But he hesitated an inch away as if contemplating his next move.
Sesshomaru allowed him to think she was powerful, wonderful, and beautiful for a human. With that, he closed the gap between them, capturing her lips in a sweet kiss. Kagome closed her eyes and reached her arms around his neck. His own arms, wrapping around her waist pulling her closer.
When they finally broke apart, Kagome leaned her head against his shoulder. Sesshomaru in turn, pulled her closer and rested his chin on her head, breathing in her sweet scent.
"Sesshomaru," she whispered.
"Yes, Kagome?" His tone was soft and gentle, making Kagome shiver softly as it reached her ears.
"I was wondering, if I could well, bring my pup here with me?" she asked.
Sesshomaru smirked. he knew this was comming, and he knew who shewas talking about too. 'The kit.' he thought. 'He would make an excellent playmate for Rin.'
"We'll set out for him tomorrow. For now, you'll need your rest. Rin wants to see you so I'll send her in soon. There is a kimono on the chair," he said, pointing to a chair by the balcony.
"Arigato, Sesshomaru-sama." Kagome said as he left. She got up and walked towards the kimono. 'I wonder why they're all dark blue and silver?' This one was silver, shining a blue tint when she moved with a blue obi. When Kagome was dressed, she sat down on the bed she recognized as Sesshomaru's. Kagome blushed. She'd slept in his bed again!
'That kiss,' she thought, bringing her fingers up to touch her lip. 'It felt so right. But why? I can't deny that I like him, but I'm beginning to like him more and more, maybe even love him.'
kagome was glad to be interrupted by her thoughts when Rin came bounding happily through the doorway.
"Sesshomaru-sama said Rin could play with you oka-san." Kagome smiled.
"Hai, Rin-chan, come here."

Sesshomaru sat in his study. He was so confused, he didn't know what to think anymore!
