Kagome and InuYasha were snuggled up next to a small fire in the homey little hut.
Sango and Miroku , of course with Kilala, had left for the nearby village, they had heard rumors of a demon who would come at night and slay young women. Miroku was generally interested (as usual) and Sango decided they should go. Keade took Shippoe with her to the woods to gather herbs and the villages to help heal the ill.
Which now left the comfortable hanyou and miko alone. InuYasha had been acting odd about the arrangements at first, but then warmed up to the fact they would be there alone for the next three to four days.
Kagome now sat leaning into InuYasha's chest. His arms were wrapped around her in a protective fashion.
She snuggled in further until she sensed, as usual, Kikyo.
Why does she have to come when everything is perfect?
Kagome mused to herself.
“Go.” She said simply
“Nam?”
“Go, see what she wants” she shooed “Neru” (Go) she commanded
InuYasha finally complied and left her in the small hut.
InuYasha arrived in a small clearing and saw Kikyo waiting.
“What?!” he snapped.
“Oh Koi why so annoyed?”
“You called me out here just to bug me.” He snapped again
“InuYasha you need to relax, I think I can help.” She said seductively
She pushed him against the tree and began kissing him over his face and neck.
InuYasha tried to hold her at bay, but apparently was fighting as hard as he could.
Might as well enjoy it, this is the closest I can get to Kagome.
He continued on with the I'm a lowly half breed and Kagome is a miko and untouched by filthy hands musings.
He was so lost in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed the tent growing in his hakama because of his thoughts or that Kagome had been there long enough to see everything.
He sensed her when it was too late. She had run as fast as she could, and that was pretty damn fast.
She scraped her arms on the branches as she darted for the well. InuYasha wasn't far behind, leaving a very confused and annoyed Kikyo in the dust. Damnit Kagome, don't you dare leave
He screamed over and over in his head. He was jumping from branch to branch trying to get a vision of where the young miko was.
Kagome dove under branches and jumped clear over high placed roots, amazing herself in the process.
Damn this would have come in handy all those other times.
She mused as she continued , only to fall face first into a deep hole of snow.
She began crying silently to herself as she rolled over onto her back.
Her hands were wrapped around her waist as she cradled herself in the pit of snow.
InuYasha was nearing the well about an hour later and stopped when he heard Kagome's crying
She was being careful to be quiet and at the same time sobbing to the cruel gods above.
“Why? Why me? Why does he have to love her?” She sobbed as if no one was listening
Her clothes were soaked through and basically see through, her hair was matted around her face and her face was tear stained and red.
InuYasha was nearing the well about an hour later and stopped when he heard Kagome's crying
Kagome now lay silent and still on the frozen ground. InuYasha suddenly became over ridden with fear.
Onegai Kami, don't let her die
InuYasha clutched her frozen body to his. She was pale and limp. InuYasha silently cursed himself and the gods for letting her die. He sobbed into her hair, clutching her lifeless body as tight as he could.
Raging sobs ruptured from him and echoed through out the forest.
Snow began to fall freely, comforting and sympathetically.
