Chapter 1:
Jasmine fell to her knees, feeling the blood drip from her lips. She clenched her stomach where the series of punches had taken their blows. She never enjoyed sparring… But it came to sick realization to her. Bradley saved her from death. Her amber eyes bolted in his direction. “No need to thank me,” he simply said. “I guess it's not like you will anyway…”
Jasmine snarled at him, “Traitor! Why won't you let me fuckin' die?! TRAITOR!” Bradley sighed. “Jasmine… If you were planning to let him kill you, you are the true traitor…” he said coldly, pointing down at the young man who lay unconscious, two gleaming knives already drawn to finish the deed of killing her. Bradley smiled, kneeling down beside her. “I'll always love you, Jasmine. You just have to accept my choices…” Everything went blank as his lips met hers.
A day later, Jasmine woke up to the bright lights of a hospital room, a nurse checking the charts at the foot of her bed. “Ah! You're up!” the nurse smiled. “Another faint, Nurse Beatrice?” she simply asked. Nurse Beatrice simply nodded. Jasmine sighed. Beatrice, the school Nurse at St. Boheme's Prep., didn't seem the part, but she was actually an alien refugee, brought to Earth thanks to a group called the I.N.o.E. On her old planet, Veo, she was trained as an intergalactic doctor, so it soon became easy for her to become an Earthian nurse.
“Your cousin Dib came by just an hour ago. I think he's still on campus if you want to go chase him,” Beatrice smiled. Dib, Jasmine's older cousin, seemed like a decent guy - or at least smart enough to actually avoid the possible drugs in any elementary school cafeteria food and therefore not turning into a zombie. Their neutral passion, of course, was outer space; however, their paths were different. They still were close cousins, however…
“Thanks… I think Maria is hanging out with him on the roof,” Jasmine nodded. Maria, a friend of Jasmine's, was cool with nearly everyone. She and Dib, whenever they met, often had philosophical conversations of current happenings. It just the way it really was…
Jasmine slipped off of the bed, changing from the night gown the nurse had dressed her in into her school uniform: a collared polo shirt, a plaid green and white skirt, and a black tie. Her hair, a long tangle of strands and knots, was simply tied into a ponytail, knots and all. She pushed thick framed glasses close to her eyes. She smiled, bidding Beatrice goodbye before rushing off to the roof.
Dib smiled, spotting his cousin one floor below. “Hey! Sleepy head!” Dib yelled, laughing at his cousin's realization of where he was. Jasmine smiled, waving at Dib. Just like she had predicted, he and Maria had hung out on the roof the entire time.
As Jasmine rushed to get to the staircase, she ran into unexpected company. A strong hand gripped her arm, refusing her to leave the owner's embrace. “Hey, Jazzy. Glad you're finally up,” Bradley smiled, holding her close. Jasmine could feel rage well up within her. “Brad… I'm giving you four seconds for you to let go of me before I turn you female. Let go of me, now,” Jasmine snarled, feeling her already grip her fists clench.
“BRADLEY!” yelled Maria who rushed from the staircase, a large stick in her hand. She was ready to whack his head in. Dib ran behind her, confused. “Oh, shit. See you, my dearest,” Bradley smiled, slipping away into the crowds of people. Maria sighed, skidding towards Jasmine. “Stupid ass-hole. Doesn't know what kind of trouble he's getting into,” Maria sighed, brushing back her frizzy golden brown hair. Jasmine sighed, leaning against the door frame of what was actually her and Maria's dorm room. “Pervert…” she muttered, realizing this.
Jasmine looked over to Dib. “Nice to see you, cousin,” she sighed.
