Amante Della Foschia
Target 1: The New Tutor
Things never seemed more normal in the Sawada household, a few days after the Rings Conflict was over with. The sun was shining, as usual, and birds were chirping outside, resting on the branches of the Orange tree at the garden. The twittering never bothered the inhabitants, seeing as most of the time they barely heard it, thanks to Lambo and his loud nature. That day was no different, and the noise that was coming from the kitchen at the ground floor was probably ruining a certain junior high student's sleep.
But what else was new? As Tsuna stirred in his bed he could only imagine the ruckus going on downstairs. Mama was probably trying to cook breakfast as I-pin and Lambo terrorized the kitchen. Mmm...breakfast sounded good actually. Maybe she was making omelets! Though...if she was they would probably be long gone by the pace that Lambo and Reborn stuffed them down their faces. He could understand, but Reborn should just be more dignified. Though, he supposed it was hard to be dignified when you were an infant with a giant pacifier around your neck. He wasn't going to let this discourage him! He was going to get that light fluffy scrumptious omelet that other families could only dream of having, and he was going to get it now! Rolling out from under his covers, the young Sawada gave a loud yawn and scratched his messy mane. Oh yes...he was going to get some breakfast if it killed him!
Sawada Nana glanced towards the entrance to the kitchen after breaking two more eggs and cooking it on the pan. "Ah, Tsu-kun, you woke up!" She smiled brightly, adding some salt to the growing circle on the pan. "I was just asking Reborn-kun to wake you up."
"How regrettable, Tsuna. And I went through all the trouble to get this hammer and give you an original awakening." That said, the tiny hitman pulled out a huge hammer with knits all over it, showing it to his still sleepy student. The small smirk that was twitching at the infant's lips was probably enough to scare the 10th boss of the Vongola Family, even after the hammer disappeared from sight.
"eeeeeeee!!!" Tsuna squealed, backing away from the potentially deadly hammer. It was too early in the morning for Reborn to be starting his 'let's have fun everybody and torture Tsuna game!' When he saw that Reborn didn't seem to be wanting to hit him anymore, he took a seat next to the infant. Sighing as his freshly made eggs were set in front of him. "Thanks Okasan, these look delicious." Nana smiled at him, to which he smiled back as he lifted his fork to take a bite...only to stab at thin air. "What happened to my omelet!?"
To that, the young Sawada boy received a small-amused look from a very smug hitman. "The strongest survives. That's the rule of the jungle, Tsuna. You must be quick." He mumbled while chewing on Tsuna's omelet, snatching his glass of orange juice as well and sipping from it before the 10th could have taken it back. …Not that he would've managed to, anyways. "You're too naive, Tsuna!"
Yes, the infant was mocking his student, as usual, and not because it was his way to try and teach the boy a lesson. No. He only did it because it was so much fun.
"You're cruel!" The young Sawada whined. He honestly didn't know why he was surprised. This was almost an everyday occurrence, and yet he really had been looking forward to that omelet. His stomach gave a whine in surprise, causing him to rub the empty gap where food should be in despair. "Now I have to go to school on an empty stomach! They say food is brainpower you know! You would think you would WANT me to do better in my studies...you being a tutor and all!"
"Brain power is only effective to those who have a brain, Tsuna." The infant said with a nonchalant tone, moving to steal the extra food Lambo was currently receiving from Tsuna's mother. Lambo, of course, made a big deal out of it, and Reborn's impatience with the idiot showed once again as he took Leon in his hand and shot the cow wherever he could, causing him to fly straight out of the window and to god-knows-where.
"Shouldn't you be going already?" He asked as he took the noisy brat's bowel, not even sparing his student a glance. "You don't want to be late for school, Dame-Tsuna."
"Wasn't that a little harsh?" Tsuna asked wide-eyed, staring out the window at where Lambo had just disappeared. No one else seemed to even think anything of it. "And why should I care about school anyways? The only thing I have to look forward to is yet another zero. I think I've got negative points in math now. Maybe Yamamoto can help me out with it. I don't think he's doing all the well in math either."
"That is probably why you two idiots get along so well." He nodded to himself, bringing more rice into his mouth with the chopsticks. "Most of the bosses of Vongola were geniuses, Tsuna. That means you're an exception." He smirked up at him, a glint of mockery in his eyes. "You're special in your own way!"
At that, Tsuna's mother refilled Reborn's glass of orange juice, though it was more like Tsuna's stolen glass, nodding with a wide smile. "I believe so, too, Reborn-kun! Tsu-kun is a very special boy!" The only sad thing was that they both meant different kind of special.
"Thanks Oka-san." Tsuna replied dejectedly, knowing his mother hadn't meant it as an insult as Reborn had. Sighing, he pushed up from the table. Frowning at his deflated ego and his empty stomach. "Alright. Well I should head off to school."
Reborn nodded. "Shoo shoo, Dame-Tsuna. If you arrive late today, we'll pull an all nighter and train, Reborn! style." Yes, the young hitman was gloating as usual. Some might say he preferred Tsuna not to arrive to school at time, but the mere thought of an infant to be that sadistic was ridiculous. …Unless you heard of Reborn, then it all made sense.
"What's so important about today?" Tsuna asked with suspicion...and then a sudden fear overtook him. "Reborn! What do you have planned!?"
"Hmph." A small smirk took place over his lips. "I... didn't plan a thing." That small pause was, with no doubt, more than enough to scare the hitman's student to no end. But, if he really had any idea of what the katekyoushi was planning, he would've ran away from Namimori and probably Japan as well.
It was a good thing he didn't though. No, Tsuna didn't know a thing, which was why he left his house only a little paranoid. He met up with Gokudera and Yamamoto at the street corner, and walked with them to school. He heard them arguing in background. ...Well okay, he heard Gokudera arguing, Yamamoto just gave him a kind smile in return, taking all the ridicule with a grain of salt. They had a funny friendship, he realized, and they were friends, even if Gokudera didn't act like it all the time. Because in those moments when Yamamoto didn't happen to show up, there was just something about the pale haired boy that seemed off, almost like he didn't seem as happy as he should. Even though when he was around Yamamoto he was always feigning anger. Shaking his head, Tsuna cleared his thoughts, knowing he was reading way too much into such an odd occurrence. He had his own self to worry about after all! Who knew what Reborn had planned for him once he reached the gate!? Would he be forced to embarrass himself in front of Kyoko? Would Reborn once more shoot him with a dying will bullet and force him to confess his feelings!?
~~~~~~~
Rokudo Mukuro could not accept the reason he was released from the Mafia prison back in Italy, especially when the one who asked that favor was the Arcobaleno with the funny accent. The one called Reborn. His current location being the roof, he let the wind tousle his hair while looking down at the entrance gate, waiting for the home-tutor-hitman to appear, and with him, the Vongola's successor. A change in the sound of the breeze behind him made his eyes narrow in the slightest, yet he didn't look back.
"Ken, Chikusa, didn't I tell you not to follow me?" He was the only one who was on parole. If the others were to be found, they would probably be taken to the Mafia prison again.
"Che, don't overreact!" Ken said quickly, walking up next to Mukuro's side and leaning over the railing to stare at their prey. "We weren't followed. The Mafioso scum tracking us from the prison were dumb enough to fall for our detour. There's no way they can pick up on our trail now." Speaking of trails, Mukuro's trail of sight seemed to be fixed on the Vongola brat almost like he was looking through the scope of a sniper rifle. "So you gotta be that brat's bodyguard, eh? Sucks."
Chikusa remained standing behind both of them, watching silently with his hand tucked inside his pocket, where his yoyos were currently resting until the time he'd need to use them. "Ken, don't bother Mukuro-sama, I am certain he is not pleased by that idea either." He said in his usual calm voice, pushing his eyeglasses up his nose with two of his fingers. "Shall we assist, Mukuro-sama?"
"That won't be needed, Chikusa." He replied without thinking, and Chikusa knew exactly that'd be his reply. Rokudo Mukuro never needed anybody's help. He was stronger than any other man he knew, and offering his help was almost like doubting his power, and the fact he could pull it off by himself. "You see, now that I will be close to the Vongola boss, it will be much easier to take over his body. When that happens, things will change for the three of us."
Ken smirked, knowing his boss had to have had a plan this whole time. He had been infuriated when he had informed them he would be playing babysitter! "Well that's a different matter then!" He said excitedly. "Mukuro-san should I go down there and give the brat a taste of what's in store for him?" He stared down like a wolf at his prey, practically licking his lips in anticipation. Chikusa only brought his hand to his forehead, shaking his head once at Ken's behavior while Mukuro slowly smirked.
"No." He said in a deep voice. "I would like to show the little Vongola what the future holds for him myself, when it's the right time." He was just as sadistic as Reborn, some would say even more than the hitman himself. "After all..." He let out his usual, soft kufufu laugh. "I am his guardian, aren't I?”
Tsuna sighed, sitting in the classroom chair as he stared longingly out the window. Longingly, because at just the right angle you could see the reflection on Kyoko's face as she stared up with immense concentration at the math lesson going on right now. His homework had gotten passed back where he had scored a measly 23, and so even though he should, concentrating on math was the last thing he wanted to do right now. No, watching her twirl her hair was much more enthralling. Plus there was also that lingering fear in the back of his mind at what had Reborn looking so happy this morning. He never looked happy unless it involved his imminent pain, and he had a feeling this time was no exception.
The teacher let his eyes wander over his classroom after he wrote a math problem on the blackboard to let his students practice a new type of fraction and see if there were any geniuses in his class. Perhaps they might be able to help tutor other students that had difficulties with the same problem. Such as, for example, Sawada Tsunayoshi. No wonder he was referred as Dame-Tsuna. He really was hopeless. As a teacher, he knew it was bad to give up on one of your students, but this one really was just that. He was about to turn and scold the daydreaming boy, but the teacher straightened immediately and turned to look at the door as a light knock was heard. "Yes?"
And that was all that was needed for Rokudo Mukuro to step inside. Believing he owned the world, he still wanted to keep on low profile until the Vongola kid would see and fear his presence…just for the fun of it. "Ah, Sensei are we late?" He asked casually, not really caring whether he was interrupting him during his class. All he cared about was to see the look on the young tenth's face. It would be highly amusing.
Tsuna's mouth dropped open when Rokudo Mukuro and his two friends, Ken and Chikusa walked through the door sporting brand new uniforms from his school! What in the world was going on here!? The cold chilling sweat that always glistened on his forehead when he forced to come face to face with such a sadistic person once more came, and he swallowed the nervous lump that had formed in his throat, closing his mouth for the first time since they had entered.
"Class I would like you to welcome some new students. They just transferred in from Kokuyo Middle School. This is Joshima Ken, Kakimoto Chikusa, and Rokudo Mukuro. Make sure you give them a warm welcome." Honestly, Tsuna wasn't sure there was anyone he'd least like to give a warm welcome to. The very thought sent a shudder down his spine, and looking up he saw Mukuro's odd eyes focused solely on him, and that nervous feeling increased ten fold.
Gokudera stared with wide eyes at the group that entered through the door, abruptly standing up and making his chair fall backwards to the floor with a loud noise. "AHHH! It's that Mukuro! Jyuudaime! Hide, I will take him!" He growled while pulling out numerous dynamites. He wasn't going to let the man hurt his dear boss, even if he'd end up dying!
Chikusa already pulled out his yoyos and stood in an offensive posture, ready to attack lest his dear boss would get hurt by those bombs, when Mukuro's voice was heard, light and smooth as usual.
"Hold it, Boy Wonder." The longhaired male said with his hand buried deep inside his pocket, eyeing the pale haired guy with a small, amused smirk. "I am not here to cause troubles." Yet. "The little Arcobaleno asked me to come here. If you have any complaints, you better go to him." He then turned to look at the homeroom teacher, giving him a bored gaze. "Where should I sit, Sensei?" He always appeared selfish one…at least on the outside.
"Tsuna? Tsuna?" The brunette turned towards Yamamoto who was whispering in his direction. He didn't at all want to drag his eyes away from Mukuro who was still staring directly at him, even as he spoke to their professor. "Isn't that the guy from before? The one that girl disappeared into?" Tsuna's eyebrow twitched a little at Yamamoto's thickness, never quite believing how ditzy the baseball nut seemed to act. Though he supposed he couldn't blame him for not recognizing Mukuro, he never even recognized Reborn when he would get into one of his ridiculous outfits.
"Yeah Yamamoto, that's Mukuro..." He started but trailed off when the person in question took a seat nonchalantly in the chair next to him, causing the easily startled boy to jump up from his seat in shock. It seemed him and the professor had decided on the seating arrangements while he was busy with Yamamoto. "Eeee! What are you doing!?"
"Sitting down." The man stated with a calm voice, glancing at the Vongola boss while leaning backwards in his seat. He never even bothered to see where Chikusa and Ken were seated. "Do you have a problem with that, Tsunayoshi-kun?" He asked with his smooth voice, knowing the tone would probably freak the other boy out. He was such a scaredy cat, it was almost amusing.
"Oh." Was the only thing Tsuna could really think to respond with, trying to fight the overwhelming urge to make a run for it and go hide under his covers back home. His eyes kept darting from the chalkboard, to his desk, to Mukuro, and then back again. It was not a good pattern, and it was made especially not good by the fact that Mukuro seemed to have noticed such a thing and was staring at him in amusement. It seemed others had noticed the oddity as well, because Gokudera was practically snarling at the rogue Mafioso in his seat.
"For the Jyuudaime to sit so close to an enemy..." Gokudera turned a heated glare at their homeroom teacher, the intensity in his eyes making the teacher twitch and glance at him with nervous eyes before continuing to teach the material. "Unforgivable." He hissed through gritted teeth, fingers twitching next to his belt as they itched to grab his dynamites, blow up the classroom, and run outside with his precious Vongola boss for all it was worth. On the other hand, Yamamoto was just smiling lightly, oblivious to his friends' nervous states and tried listening to the teacher while tapping over the table with his pencil.
"Your minions seem to be very protective of you, Vongola." The previous prisoner said in a soft voice, giving the young 10th an amused look as he ignored completely the fact Yamamoto was too dense to even notice the mood around the trio. "The Storm and the Rain guardians, aren't they?"
Tsuna gulped, giving a nod while trying to ignore him at all costs. He knew Mukuro was up to something. That thought was only made all the more clear by the evil taunting looks Ken was giving him. That look he knew usually meant harm for him, and for the life of him he still couldn't figure out why Mukuro was ever appointed one of his supposed guardians in the first place. It was obvious he hated him, and he was pretty sure his only goal at the moment was to possess his body. Trying to look anywhere but at Mukuro, he caught sight of Kyoko, who was looking towards the mist guardian in almost fascinated curiosity, and his mood fell even more. Great! Now Kyoko was interested in him! What else could possibly go wrong today?
"Sawada answer question 27!" His sensei boomed from in front of the classroom, and Tsuna's face flushed. Not that he had been paying much attention before, but since Mukuro had entered the room he had completely spaced what they were supposed to be doing off, and now had no idea what the answer could possibly be. Great! So not only was Mukuro here, but now he was going to look like an idiot in front of him as well!
At that, Gokudera started making weird shapes with his hands, hissing as he tried to get his boss' attention and help him with solving the problem. "X equals two and a quarter! Jyuudaime..!" He whispered loudly.
"Gokudera, we all know you can solve this, but as far as I know, your name is not Sawada." Came the harsh words from the sensei, as he turned once again to look at the panicking boy and shook his head. "Anyone else?"
"X equals two and a quarter, Sensei." Mukuro said without hesitating a second, a thing that made Gokudera fume and exclaim that the young villain heard him whisper the answer to Tsuna. A thing that got both him and the Sawada boy scolded for trying to cheat under the teacher's nose. Resulting in the Vongola boss receiving a small grin from a very smug delinquent. "You need to work on your concentration skills, Tsunayoshi-kun."
Tsuna reddened even more at the sound of laughter that filled the room, along with the 'Dame-Tsuna's' that accompanied them. This was just embarrassing! Mukuro, who knew of Tsuna as his rival, and a supposed Vongola boss, had to hear him get laughed at by everyone else. Everyone laughing thought he was just a screw up, because most of the time he was. But Mukuro didn't know that. No, to him at least Tsuna had been something special, a challenge. Now he would look at him just like everyone else. The young boss shook his head, dispelling such odd thoughts. Knowing he couldn't continue to ignore the other any longer, he mumbled under his breath. "Well it's kinda hard to concentrate when you keep distracting me." He said with an angry look on his face, to which upon seeing, Gokudera gave him the thumbs up from the corner.
Mukuro eyed the young Vongola boss for a long moment, knowing he was missing something, but soon caught up. Dame-Tsuna? Was that how the special, powerful Vongola boss has been called? A No-good? It was surprising, since if he had to be honest with himself, all he saw in the boy was potential, potential, and then some more potential. After all, he had Vongola blood. "I don't recall asking you any possible question to distract you." He said dully, turning to look at the professor. "Though I find it very flattering, to have Vongola himself distraught by me." Yes, he was mocking the boy. Yes, he was enjoying it tremendously. Though could you blame him?
Tsuna was pretty sure he was as red as a tomato by this point. He didn't know why, but every time Mukuro talked his blood was set on fire. What did he mean by that? Obviously he wasn't distraught by him! Well he was, but not in the way he made it sound! How did he make it sound? The Vongola sighed, sinking into his desk as he tried to bury his thoughts. He was just reading too much into it, that was all. Mukuro was just trying to be mean and tease him. Knowing there was really only one thing left to do at this point, the brunette did the only thing he could do…he raised his hand. "Sensei can I go to the bathroom?"
As the boy got his consent from his Sensei, Mukuro turned a small smirk his way. "Enjoy yourself, Tsunayoshi-kun." He drawled in amusement and watched as the other sprinted out of the classroom as quick as possible and sinking into his chair, he chuckled lightly. His life was going to get much more interesting, and that was a good enough reason, other than taking over the boy's body, for why he should stay.
As Tsuna raced down the halls, he couldn't stop that last smirking image from appearing over and over in his mind. Why was he here!? What possible reason would have to be out of prison and here now? He pushed open the door for the bathroom, immediately sinking down against the wall as he held his head in his hands. His breathing was coming out quick and ragged, and he couldn't seem to stop his heart from going at that nervous beat that seemed to pound against his chest. Were they going to have to fight again? He had already seen Mukuro's true powers in the fight against Marmon, and he had to say that he was no match. He didn't want to have to fight anymore! And he especially didn't want his friend's lives to be in any more danger.
The Vongola sat in his pile of self made pity, thinking this day could get no worse, but, alas, he was mistaken. For in that moment a huge crocodile seemed to crawl out of the bathroom stall and head straight towards him. "Eeee!" He screamed, scooting at lightening speeds towards the door. It was in that moment though that he noticed something peculiar. The crocodile didn't seem as big as it should, and well...it had the face of a baby. "Reborn!" He yelled, angry with the Arcobaleno for scaring him half to death. "What are you doing here?"
The infant chuckled evilly at his young student's question, looking up at the terrified, pale face of the boy he almost scared to death. "Good work, Tsuna!" He said with his unique voice. "It seems like all our practices were not for nothing. You run much faster than you used to before!" And then he hummed, rubbing his crocodile snout and nodded to himself. "Though you still scream like a girl. We need to work on that."
"I do not." Tsuna pouted quietly, still frazzled at the events that had happened in the last few moments. He also didn't fail to recognize that not only had Reborn conveniently bypassed his question, but also he had taken the time to mask it with an insult. Reborn had to know something...Reborn knew everything! "Reborn, why is Rokuda Mukuro and his gang here?" He asked with hopefulness, knowing in the back of his mind that that hopefulness was probably about to get beat down.
The gleam in the eyes of the infant was probably enough to give Tsuna an idea of what was going to happen due to the tone he was using. Though, that didn't mean he had time to avoid it. Making a quick turn Reborn smacked his long, thorny crocodile tail right into the Vongola's face and sent him flying against the wall. "Don't sound so pathetic, Tsuna!" He said with a blank expression, looking at the whimpering boy with a slight frown. "Rokudo Mukuro came to replace me as your temporary home tutor."
Tsuna placed two hands over his face, writhing in agony over the pain that had just befallen him. "I'm not pathetic! I'm..." He stopped moving, the words Reborn had uttered just now starting to sink in. "What!?" He sat up, staring at the tutor with wide fearful eyes. "What do you mean he's replacing you as my home tutor!? Where are you going!?"
"Italy." The katekyoushi said with a serious voice. "I have some business there that is not related to you, and while I am away, I want to make sure you keep on training." He peeled the ridiculous green outfit off and remained in his usual black mafia suit. "I asked a favor from the higher ups to let Rokudo Mukuro out of prison in order to train you while I am away. He is the only person who's strong enough and knows enough about the world of the mafia to teach you everything you need." Then, a small smirk appeared on his lips. "And I know he won't go easy on you, so he's the best choice."
"Why would that be a good thing!?" He screeched out, exasperated. He was pretty sure he wouldn't have been more shocked if Reborn had just informed him that he was really his father. Mukuro train him? How? Why? Of all the injustices of the world why did it have to be him? Those harsh strange eyes that already looked at him in nothing but hate would have no mercy on him. Reborn couldn't just leave him to fend for himself against that monster! "You can't! You're supposed to be my tutor! You can't just get a replacement!" He said, almost pleadingly by this point.
Reborn ignored Tsuna at that, knowing the boy was going to get more and more loud and pathetic with every moment he spent there next to him. Thus, he took Leon from his shoulder and directed his pistol at the Vongola's head. "Do your best, Tsuna." He said before moving to shoot the window and jumping onto the sill. "Ah, another thing! Take my outfit to the drycleaner for me, my tail is stained with your blood!"
A sudden loud noise was heard and a helicopter appeared from out of nowhere, a rope ladder was thrown down for the small hitman to grab, taking him with it as it turned around and started flying away. "Don't pee in your bed!" And that was the last thing the katekyoushi said before disappearing into the horizon.
The young Vongola stared at where Reborn had disappeared. He ran towards the windowsill and looked outside, only to see the faint traces of Reborn disappearing into the horizon. "REBORN!" He yelled, but the Hitman made no move to respond, continuing on until he disappeared entirely. Disappeared, leaving him alone with only Mukuro as a teacher. Why? Of all things that he could have predicted Reborn doing today, this most certainly was not one of them. The very thought of being without his constant home tutor was nearly maddening, and for the first time he thought of just what his life might be like without Reborn. No more all night study sessions, no more dangerous training, no more random missions, and no more stolen food! His eye twitched as he thought it over. On second thought, maybe not having Reborn around for a few days wasn't going to be that bad.
That is of course until he thought of who was going to replace him, and then his nervous anxiety started all over again. In fact, it wasn't until about an hour later that he was even able to drag himself from the safe vicinity of the bathroom, sneaking into the now empty hallways of the school, and hoping to get home without consequence, or at least without having to see Mukuro or any of his posse. Fortunately, Gokudera was waiting for him at the gates to the school, and Tsuna had never been so happy to see his self proclaimed 'right hand man' in all his life.
"Jyuudaime!" The pale haired boy called, waving his hand at the young mafia boss and grinning all the way towards him. "I've been searching all over for you! Did you meet with that Kokuyo-high group? They left not long ago. I was worried, but you seem fine!" He gave him the thumbs up. "But after all, you are the Jyuudaime! Nothing can harm you!" Or so he believed. He didn't know what the boy's katekyoushi was planning for him, but he did know that he was not going to be pushed aside by a certain individual he did not like, especially next to his soon-to-be-boss. "Should I walk you home?"
Tsuna gave a smile and nodded, always too nice for his own good. Not that he minded Gokudera walking him home mind you; as a matter of fact that company might be nice. Anything that got his mind off of what bad things could possibly be in store for him was a good thing. "So Gokudera," He asked. "Did Reborn mention anything to you on why Mukuro was here?" He wanted to test the waters, see if Gokudera knew anything, or if Reborn really was jerking him around like normal.
Hayato blinked a few times, looking at the shorter boy with confused eyes before he shook his head no. "You want to tell me Reborn-san has something to do with Rokudo Mukuro's presence?" He asked with a frown, his voice rather suspicious. "It's not that I don't trust Reborn-san, but if he did that, he might be a bit confused himself. Bringing such a threatening persona to Namimori-high, is a bit too bad of a joke…even for him."
It was a bad joke! There was no way in the world the tiny hitman would do such a thing as to bring such a dangerous delinquent. It didn't matter that he was the Mist Guardian; it was too dangerous to have him remain so close to the Vongola boss
As for Tsuna, he was certain that this was just the kind of bad joke that Reborn played best. But at the look of almost worry of Gokudera's face, he forced himself not to show it. "You're probably right. Mukuro must be up to something." He said confidently, almost convincing himself of the lie. "We'll just have to find out what is it and take care of it like last time." He shut his eyes, remembering all the injuries that had resulted from last time. Hell, Gokudera had almost gotten killed! He shook his head to dispel the images, instead starting down the street towards his home.
It wasn't as if Gokudera didn't try before, only he failed miserably at that time. Not to mention he hadn't planned on Bianchi's recovery room to be the same as his, which had slowed down the process of healing considerably. Seeing as how he was hurt once again every time he would open his eyes. When she finally recovered and left the hospital room, Hayato couldn't have been any more joyous in his life. Well, maybe whenever he received praise from the young Vongola boss, but that came in a very close second!
He shivered at the mental images and granted the Tenth a wide grin with a display of his fist. "No worries, Jyuudaime! If anything happens, I will take care of the man! I am not as weak as I was then, and this time I'll blow him away!” Literally.
"Well that's good to know." Tsuna smiled pleasantly, actually really cheered up by the fact that Gokudera was always there for him. "Maybe we should ask Yamamoto what he thinks about the whole thing." He thought out loud. "I mean he was in the classroom too, maybe he has some thoughts on it."
Gokudera stiffened at that, giving his companion a determined look. "We don't need that twit around us, Jyuudaime! He doesn't even think! He thinks this is all a game! How can you rely on a person like that?!" He asked frustrated, a bit insulted by the Tenth's implications. He knew he has made mistakes in the past, and that he might not be the most reliable person in the world strength-wise, and that he kept fainting whenever he saw his Aneki, but still! He was trying his best!
All he needed to do now was prove himself. "Don't worry! Everything will be okay. I will even walk Jyuudaime to his bedroom if there's a need!"
As Gokudera's excitement bubbled next to him, the Vongola gave a small nod, continuing to walk down the street. He knew that his friend was just saying he would walk him to his bedroom as a joke, but he was wondering if he should make him do just that. Walk him to his bedroom, check his closet, and check under the bed...anything to make sure that the terrible Mukuro monster was nowhere in sight. He slowly shook his head, what was he, two? He was supposed to be a future mafia boss and was treating Mukuro like he was the boogieman. It was ridiculous was what it was! He had no idea why the other affected him so, it's just every time he looked at him his heart sped up, and his throat went dry. ...It was almost...it was almost what he felt like when he first met Kyoko. Scowling, Tsuna stopped his thoughts dead in the track right then and there. Comparing Mukuro to Kyoko...now that was just ridiculous!
Noticing the boy next to him was busy thinking, Gokudera said nothing and just continued to walk until they reached the doorstep to the Sawada household. Turning to grin at the Tenth, Gokudera twitched as he suddenly saw the Rain guardian coming close to the place and clutched his fist. "Please excuse me Jyuudaime, but I must leave immediately!" He said before dashing towards the street.
"Oi you blockhead! We need to talk!" He called, stepping behind the baseball freak and pushing him away from the entrance to the Sawada house. He wanted him as far away from Tsuna as possible, especially when his boss said he wanted to see the tall boy a moment ago. He was going to manage to protect him alone, as befitting of a right hand man! "Good night, Jyuudaime! See you in the morning!" He said, waving with a wide smile at Tsuna before pushing Yamamoto as far away as possible.
Just shaking his head at his friends' antics, Tsuna forgot all about how Gokudera had promised to walk him to his room. It would probably be fine anyways, because what possible way could he have to get into the house? Though he supposed that hadn't stopped Reborn from coming in...or Lambo...or I-pin, hell even Bianchi had just moved right in, and she tried to poison them all on a regular basis! His mother was just too trusting sometimes; it was just like when she had become a victim of the pick-pocketers! If Mukuro came over to the house she would probably invite him right in, thinking nothing of it!
His heart sped up as his sweaty palm closed around the doorknob, counting to ten and closing his eyes before he slid it open. Once the actually act of the door being open was done though, it became slightly anti-climatic, especially due to the fact that there was no one standing in the doorway. Not that he really expected there to be, he kept telling himself, it was utterly foolish to think that for some reason Mukuro would want to be anywhere near his house!
"Tsuna dear!" He heard his mother's voice call from the dining room. "Dinner is ready! Why don't you come in and eat?" The Vongola's stomach growled at the sound of food, and he just remembered how hungry he was after skipping breakfast. He let his nose lead him, heading straight towards the scent of his mom's unrivaled cooking.
It was then, when the Mist Guardian heard the entrance door to the Sawada household open and the steps of the future Vongola boss, as the latter made his way into the building and towards the voice of his mother; the woman whom was standing right next to him, filling his cup with hot green tea and putting a plate with home cooked meal in front of him. He glanced up, granting the woman a smile before taking the cup in his hands and bringing it to his lips. "Thank you, Sawada-san." He said in his soothing voice before taking a short sip from the tea, enjoying the smell before his taste buds began working.
A second later when the boy entered the kitchen at his own home, unfazed and trouble free, the Mist guardian turned one blue eye and a second, red one to eye him as he froze in the doorway at the sight. Oh. The fun begins now. "Good evening, Tsunayoshi-kun. Would you like to join me for dinner?"
