Dawn and Darkness On Destiny Island

-Chapter Ten-

There was a rather large turnout at the coronation
ceremony. But no one new seemed to be there.

Sora turned to King Mickey. "So, where's the
King?" he asked.

"Right next to you," King Mickey replied.

"Huh?!" Riku asked in surprised.

"Riku?!" Sora was equally stunned.

"That's right," King Mickey told them. "Xehanort was
sent by enemies of the crown to make sure you never
ascended to the throne. Fortunately, I was able to revive
Axel as your guardian. And now, Riku, it's time for you
to take your rightful place as King." He helped Riku
straighten his cloak, then went out to the coronation
platform.

"I can't believe Sora's going to be knighted," Kairi told
Namine as they stood amongst the throng of people who'd
come to watch the coronation of the new king. "And a new
king to boot. There hasn't been a king for decades. Not since
the last one was assassinated and his descendants went
into hiding."

" I hope he's nice," Namine crossed her fingers.

"We'll find out soon," Kairi said as the ceremony began.

Because he'd served under King Mickey, Sora was to be
knighted by him first. Then the King would be crowned.

They watched as Sora knelt and was duly knighted by
King Mickey.

To their surprise, Riku approache the platform shortly after.

Kairi turned to Namine. "I didn't know Riku was being knighted,
too."

"He's not," Namine pointed at the platform. "Look."

They watched in awe as the crown, which had been unworn for
so long, was placed upon Riku's head.

The crowd cheered as Riku stood up and smiled at them.

"Really," a lady remarked a few days later as she watched Riku
who was sitting in his favorite spot with Namine. "That's no place
for royalty to sit."

"He's the King," her friend pointed out. "He can sit in any tree he
wants."

"What shall we do today, your majesty?" Sora asked later that day.

"My name's Riku," Riku reminded him.

"It doesn't seem right to speak so casually to a king," Sora told him.

"Let me rephrase that, then," Riku replied. "As your King, I order you
to use my first name and stop talking to me as if you were a politician."

Sora laughed. "Thanks, Riku."

Riku joined in. Then, Kairi and Namine started laughing also.
