Here (In Your Arms)
By: Bunnox

Dawn broke through a quiet, misty morning. A boy lay in his bed, ready to greet the early dawn and the birds rising with it. His eyes fluttered, showing deep blue eyes. The bluest eyes ever to be seen, like the sky at twilight without the fiery red glow to it. He yawned himself awake and scratched his brown spiky head.

Now sitting up, he opened his window above his bed and met the coolness that spread over the city. It hit his face like a breath of fresh air and inhaled the flowery scent from the flower box outside his window.

'Amazing, if only Kairi could see this. She would love it, I know for sure.' He thought. Finally placing his feet on the floor, a shiver raced through. The wooden floors were freezing despite the warm temperature of the atmosphere. He stretched his arms and back, emitting a groan from his full lips. He just remembered what he promised to do today with his two best friends.

'That's right, we have to go over to Riku's house and play a new video game. I wonder what that's all about? AAAHHH MAN! And today is the day I promised Riku I would confess my feelings to Kairi!'

Grumbling about that, he pulled on some fresh clothes. He saw his shadow rise while the sun was rising higher. Settling with his overly large shoes, he descended the stairs then passing the living room, Sora went straight for the kitchen.

'Why do I have to do that? I would think she'd already know what my feelings for her. Then again, I should look on the bright side. We could finally be dating!' With that lifting his mood, he stepped bouncily into the kitchen, greeting his mother with a kiss on her cheek.

“Hey Mom! What's for breakfast this morning?” He asked cheerily.

'Nothing can bring that boy down. I don't even think he remembers that last adventure he had with this friends and the Heartless. All will be remembered in due time, though. Okay now, time to focus on my “little” boy's stomach.' Kaitlyn thought.

“Sora, honey, you know where the food is. I can't keep making you breakfast, eventually, you'll have to do that on your own.” She chastised him lightly. His mother smiled at his frown and set to work on making a hearty breakfast for the small family.

'Just like before. Mom would wake up before I do and make me and Dad some breakfast. Wait, what am I talking about? Before what? What is it I'm trying to remember? Oh well, whatever it is, it'll pop up sometime.' Not letting that get the best of Sora, he went to get the cordless phone for a wake up call to Riku. Having the number on speed-dial was so convenient. After a few rings, a grumpy and groggy “Hello” sounded at the other end of the phone.

“RIKU! TIME TO GET UP! AND YOU CALL ME LAZY!” Sora nearly made his best friend deaf. He could hear him cursing as low as he could and finally heard his reply.

“Damn it, Sora. If you wake me up like that again, I swear I'll throw you into a nearby lake with cement attached to your feet.”

Riku, on the other line, was shaking his head and making sure his eardrum didn't pop. He heard Sora snicker...'Damn his happiness at such an early morning.'

“Riku, I have to pick up Kairi after breakfast with the 'rents. I'll see you in a couple hours alright? Catch up on sleep if you need to but if you're still sleeping when me and her get there, it's fishes for you!” He wanted to cut the conversation short.

“Alright, alright. I get it. One more hour.” After that, Riku yawned.

“Okay, see you in two!” Sora hung up faster than ever. 'I want as much time as possible to tell Kairi before meeting up with Riku.' He went back into the kitchen to help his mother with his favorite dish, scrambled eggs with mushrooms and french toast with a lot of blueberries. 'Yummmmm. My fave! Mom knows what's best' He chuckled at his own joke.

“Sora, you plan on going to see Kairi and Riku today?” His father startled him. Seeing him in his regular old work suit and favorable tie, he relaxed. 'Another long work day for Father.'

“Hey Dad... ummmmm, yeah. I do plan on seeing them today. Why?” He tilted his head at the question.

“I need you to pick up a few things from some antique stores today. Special order. It's for your mother and some of my own collections. Don't worry, I got something special for you too. You don't mind doing that for me, right son?” A certain tone in his voice made it clear he was not to argue about it.

“Sure. Don't worry, I'll do it.” In mere defeat, he sighed and resumed to eat his breakfast. Taking as much time to chew his food and having a few swallows of orange juice now and then. Finally done, he placed them all in the sink and kindly thanked his mother.

“Okay Mom! And Dad! I'm off!” Sora was about to rush out the door.

“Sora! You get your behind back here! You didn't even inquire where to get these special orders from!” His father yelled.

“I'm sorry! I just forgot.” He strolled back into the kitchen, trying to contain his excitement. He was fidgeting noticeably and his mother shot him a look to calm down immediately.

“Okay, here's where you need to go...” His father went on about a few antique shops he had to stop by then bring the items home. After that, he could be with his friends. He nodded and sighed, which earned him some cold looks from his mother.

“Don't forget, alright?” His father said sternly.

“I won't forget, Dad.” He rolled his eyes. 'When will they learn I'm not a little kid anymore? I'm practically 15 now, nearly 16.' He shook his head at that.

“Run along now, don't forget to be home by dinner or 10:30. See you, dear!” His mom had to yell the last part as Sora ran out the door, bounding through the steps.

~Kairi's Morning~

Awakened by the chirping birds outside her window, Kairi's eyes opened to a blinding light. Her blue-ish purple eyes quickly adjusted to the sun's rays. Yawning instantly, she sat up in bed and stretched. Her body aching after sleeping in one spot all night. She looked around her bedroom, noticing a note she had left for herself. A reminder for today.

Kairi,
Today is the day you confess your feelings to Sora. No more hiding them, okay? Just a reminder, Father wants me to go to the antique shops today to pick up something for me and him. I wonder what it is? Anyways, rise early and get ready. You need to pretty yourself up but not too much. That would be so unlike you. Don't forget to eat breakfast!

,myself.

She put down the note and stretched again, getting used to the pain. She got out of her comfortable bed and reached her carpeted floor. 'Perfectly warm... too warm I think. My feet are burning.' She shook out her messy, dark red hair.

'Perfect, bed head hair. Just what I needed this morning.' She grumbled a little as she looked for her bath robes. Deciding on a nice cool shower to rouse herself, she picked out another outfit than her usual pink dress. 'I think this will complement my eye tones perfectly. I don't think Sora will notice much though.' Giggling a little at that, she set out for her own private bathroom.

--Several Moments Later--

Kairi was smelling like her rose and lavender shampoo, her most favorite. Leaving her hair a little damp, she toweled off her slender body and placing on a pale purple tank top and a deep violet skirt. Putting on a finishing touch of clothing, which was in fact a light blue button down shirt, she left it open to reveal a flower necklace. The petals were a very pale pink and contrasted perfectly with her clothing.

“KAIRI! TIME FOR BREAKFAST!” Her father's voice echoed upstairs. Without a mother, it was quite lonely and confusing.

“I'm coming, Dad! I'm done getting dressed now!” She hollered back down. Kairi gave a tiring sigh as she slipped on her favored overly huge purple shoes.

“HURRY UP KAI! YOU DON'T WANT YOUR FAVORITE FRENCH TOAST TO GET COLD!” Her father was trying her patience at his morning annoyance. Then he saw her bound down the flight of stairs and danced right into the kitchen. 'Nothing can bring this girl down, not after seeing Sora. It's got me thinking she's going to date him pretty soon.'

The beautiful blue-eyed girl went up to her father and kissed his stubbled cheek. She grabbed her plate of french toast with strawberries and dished with an omlette. Now seated at her usual chair and spot, she tried not to eat as fast as possible.

“What are your plans for today, Kai? I assume you're going to spend some time with the boys?” Stan seated himself opposite of his only child.

“Yeah, I might as well spend the whole day with them. We're going to try out this new video game that just came out. After that... I don't know. But I promised I would meet up with Sora after breakfast.” She picked at her food a little.

“May I be dismissed? I want to hit those antique stores before seeing Sora...” It was weakly said.

“You may go, but before you head out the door... kindly rinse your plate.” Her father replied, in a dismissive tone.

Kairi bounded out the door and nearly tripped while running down the steps. She opened the gate that she nearly ran into. Her father watched from the doorway, she had forgotten to close the door on the way out.
