“So what do you think?” Riku asked “I don’t know” I said. I paused for a moment. “I think we should call it fayth.” “What? No
way” Riku shook his head. I frowned “come on it’s a good name.” Riku and I had been arguing about what to name the raft for the
past ten minutes. “Fine then we’ll race for it” I stated. He smiled running his hands threw his silver hair. “Fine by me.” At that
moment Laguna chose to appear. He sighed. “You guys at it again?” We stared at Laguna. “All right, I'll be the judge. The usual
rules apply: Take any route you want... First one to tag that tree and make it back here wins.” Me and Riku both nodded in
agreement. Laguna put an arm around my shoulder and leaned down to my ear. “Good luck” he stated winking. I turned toward Riku
who was watching us. When I caught his eye he tore his eyes quickly away from us and turned away. “you’ll need it” Laguna
added. I knocked his hand away “ we’ll see” I whispered back. I ran to Riku. “If I win, I'm captain! I Declared boldly And if you
win…” I trailed of. “You have to share a paopu fruit with me” Riku said. It took me a minute to process what he had said. I
suddenly felt myself blush. Had Laguna said something to him?. “Wha?... Wait a minute…” I stammered. “On my count!”
Laguna suddenly yelled out. “Ready? GO!” Riku and I lurched forward. My mind was still replaying what Riku had said. Whoa! I let
out a gasp as the board I had begun to cross began to collapse. I leaped forward onto the other side. Pay attention Sora I scolded
myself. I quickened my pace. I could still see Riku. He was now a couple of feet ahead. I watched as he dropped down from the
embankment and headed toward the trees. I grinned and instead of dropping down Continued up the slope. Once I reached the top I
jumped forward onto one of the thick tree limbs. I began to jump from tree branch to tree branch. Swinging myself forward I
launched myself back onto the ground. Riku’s face looked startled at my sudden appearance behind him. I smiled. Are hands
reached the tree at the exact same moment. I sucked in a mouthful of air and began running back to the finish line. I quickly wiped
the sweat away from my eyes. By the time Laguna came into view Riku and I were neck and neck. I once again heard Riku’s
proposition in my head. Riku smiled and in a surprising burst of speed streaked across the finish line. Me fallowing shortly after. I
stopped and tried to catch my breath. “You should have seen your face” Riku said laughing. “Huh?” I looked toward him and
suddenly I understood. It had been a joke. I frowned. Laguna tossed his arm around me in chock hold. “Alright enough playing
around” He stated. “We have work to do. Today we collect provisions for our trip.” “Sora you get the fish and the water. Riku you
can collect coconuts, eggs and mushrooms.” I nodded to Laguna then brushed passed Riku. I headed toward the shack and
grabbed a bucket and some bottle from inside. I then headed down to the shore. “I cant believe him” I thought “I know that what
he did wasn’t intentional but still…” I sighed and entered the water. Riku and I had always been rivals but to me I had always
hoped that their would be something more between us. Not that I would ever tell him that. I had finally told myself that it was just a
crush and I would get over it soon. I Bent down and lowered my arms into the water watching as the fish swam toward me
curiously. I waited until it was in the right position, and then grabbing it I tossed it into the bucket. I continued this process until the
bucket was almost full. Now for the water. I took the bottles and proceeded to the waterfall. I filled each one to the top and then
screwed the lids on securely. My eyes suddenly found their way to the green foliage growing around the waterfall and I smiled. I
reached forward and brushed a few vines out of the way. Laguna, Riku, and I had found this place when we were younger and
declared it our “secret place.” we would play down their in the dark for hours on end Making carvings on all the stones. I stepped
behind the vines and proceeded down the twisting path until I entered the larger area. I glanced around and smiled at the memorable
drawings of our youth. A drawing on one of the rock’s caught my attention. I kneeled down for a better look. Riku and I stood
facing one another each possessing a goofy smile. I grinned as the memory resurfaced. Riku and I had been sitting beside each
other. Each carving and hacking into the surface with a sharp rock. Then turning to each other with smiling faces we prided each
other for the others work. Riku had drawn me and in turn I had drawn him. Before I knew it I had a rock in my hand and was carving
an object beside the figure of Riku. I leaned back and examined my work. A paopu fruit was now shown in my hand that was
extended toward Riku. I smiled at my handy work. Suddenly the hairs on my neck stood up and I jumped up looking around.
“Who-Who’s there?” I shouted. I've come to see the door to this world. I heard the voice answer. “Huh?” I turned startled to
find an unfamiliar figure. His face hidden by the hood of a black robe. This world has been connected. “Wh-What are you talking
about?” I said suddenly getting nervous. Tied to the darkness...soon to be completely eclipsed. He isn’t making any sense. I
began to grow angry. “Well, whoever you are, stop freaking me out like this.” Suddenly it dawned on me how did he get here?
“Wh- Where did you come from?” I asked hoping the mysterious figure would answer. You do not yet know what lies beyond
the door. So, you're from another world! That has to be it. There is so very much to learn. You understand so little. “Oh,
yeah? Well, you'll see. I'm gonna get out and learn what's out there!” I said feeling the need to defend myself. A meaningless effort.
One who knows nothing can understand nothing. The voice stated and with that disappeared into the darkness.
