-Chapter 6: -
Darkheart walked into Sora's shop the next morning like a
man with a purpose. Sora came from the back room wearing
his old keyblade.
"I thought I might need this," he said, patting the old
weapon. "So, shall we set off?"
Darkheart nodded. "So, tell me about my father. I gather
you knew him better than anyone."
Sora put up a sign in the shop window that said it was
closed until further notice, then headed down the road
with his best friend's son.

The news of Esthar's destruction had hit Laguna rather
hard. He had survived only because he'd just gone into
cryostasis. It was a custom of his to stay in such a
mode until he was needed to protect the city that had
made him their President. But when the city had been
attacked, no one had been able to awaken him, so he had
slept on, until chance or fate had reunited him with the
man he loved twice over.
Leon sat on the edge of the bed beside his father and
held him close. He felt a twinge of regret that they had
agreed to never make love because of their relationship.
He had never wanted Laguna as strongly as he wanted him
now. But he would not break his promise to go only as far
as the tender kisses which he bestowed upon the older man.
Laguna himself was not innocent of the same feelings. He
wanted Leon as badly as his son wanted him. But he would
not allow his lust interfere with their true relationship.
So it remained unconsumated and would always be so.
"A keyblade you say?" He asked, his mind wandering back to
the weapon his son had mentioned earlier.
"Yeah," Leon told him. "It was even more powerful than my
best weapon."
"If only we'd had such things in Esthar, perhaps we might
have saved it."
"Or maybe not." Leon gave a shrug and stood up. "Well,
we're here now, so might as well make the most of it."
"What's your plan then?"
"I thought we might go into town. We need more supplies
now that I've got an ex-President to feed."
Laguna laughed affectionately.

"You'll regret this!" Maleficent raised her staff to strike
at the two who now challenged her. "I will not be driven from
my castle."
"Dear mother," the younger woman snarled, as she struck
Maleficent's staff, which shattered. "does this not make you
proud of us. You raised us to be like you after all."
The man beside her, who was obviously her twin brother, cast
a binding spell upon their mother, while she cast a spell to
send Maleficent away from the castle.
Maleficent tried to resist them. But she had trained her
children too well, and in the end, she was no match for them.

Riku watched as Sora's ship, the One-Winged Angel, blasted
off. Then he closed the shutters and went back to the chair in
the corner where it was his custom to sit and talk with his
daughter.
She was the only person he had seen or spoken with since he'd
fled with her. His appearance since then had, at least in his
mind, been too grotesque for any public appearance. So he'd
kept to himself, hiding in the darkest places in his home so
as to keep the true horror of his appearance even from the
daughter who loved him.
"It's a lovely day for a picnic," Rikuko told him.
"You should go out and enjoy it then."
"Indeed. I'd love to have a picnic with my father."
"Not this again. I told you no. I am not leaving this house.
If I went into the park with you, I would put the other
picnickers off their lunch."
"How many times must I tell you, you are not ugly."
"As often as you like. But that's not how other people are
going to see it."
"Who cares what an ignorant jackass thinks?" Rikuko went
over to her father and put a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"You should at least give them a chance to like you, rather
than assume they're going to hate you."

Queen Minnie sat on the bench near the castle garden darning
a sweater and sipping lemonade.
Daisy watched as what looked like a shooting star went by.
"There's a good deal of activity in the stars this week."
"The King has also noticed." Minnie reached for a new ball
of yarn. "He's not too worried, though. These days most of
our visitors tend to be friendly ones."
"I wonder what Sora's up to," Daisy mused.
"He was such a nice young man," Minnie recalled.
