Chapter Two: Get to Work Riku!

 

All was quiet in the Destiny Library except for the occasional turning of a page. The light shone on a man with silver hair and sea-green eyes; all other lights had been turned off sometime ago. He appeared to be engrossed in the book he was reading; the only sign that he was alive was him turning the page. After a few minutes though, he sighed and closed the book.

 

I really should be shelving the rest of those books away…why did I apply for this job in the first place? No one shows up except for school kids who need to do their projects because they waited until the last minute. That or parents with their little kids, who for some reason think it's funny to pull the books from the shelves and throw them everywhere. `Head Librarian' my ass, none of the other librarians listen to me. I'd fire them if they didn't do their jobs right. Besides, if I go home, my ex will probably call me again. `Riku I love you, Riku I'm sorry, Riku it's not my fault I'm a whore. Ugh.

 

Riku stood and stretched, looking at all the piles of books he had to put back. “Maybe I should just burn them all.” He said, chuckling as he imagined a `Writing for Dummies' book being burned. He wouldn't do that though, the whole reason he applied for this job was because he loved books.

 

Speaking of books, the one he was reading now was one of his favorites: a vampire novel. Not that Riku believed in vampires, but it was interesting to read and compare different author's views on the subject. Riku sighed and walked over to one of the stacks. “Well I better get to work.” He said, grabbing the stack and starting to walk down one of the aisles.
