Kingdom Hearts Fan Fiction ❯ Tutoring from an Airhead ❯ Ichi ( Chapter 1 )

Sora kept his books close to his chest as he knocked on Tidus' door. It had been only three months since he and Riku had come back from all the worlds, although with Goofy, Donald and Mickey coming and going, they had achieved a sense of normalcy between their island and Keyblade-master roles. Riku had picked his life right back up, flirting with Kairi and keeping their islands safe-almost like Seifer. Sora, however, had a harder time fitting back in. What with his growth spurt and new knowledge (AKA; he finally achieved a common sense), he actually… moved up a grade, so he was up into both Riku and Tidus' grade.

So he was stuck with having to tutor Tidus this afternoon-Kairi had scolded him to do all his homework, so he was done with his. Tidus, unfortunately, had a very short attention span. If any. … did he even have any common sense?

Said blonde opened the door with a yawn, scratching the back of his head. “Hey, Sora.” He said, eyes blearily opened. “What's up?” “Kairi's temper.” Sora answered, pushing Tidus aside lightly so he was outside, “She says that if you don't work up your grade, then you can't be on the fencing team, and they need you for some championship battle.” The brown-haired boy tilted his head a little. “… are you getting enough sleep?”

“Maybe? Well, sure I am!” He took one of his odd victory poses, ignoring Sora's facepalm. The blonde swung the door open, taking a step back. “Come on in.” He carefully stepped in, frowning before rummaging through his messenger bag. “Well, you sure don't look like it… but that's not my department. Where's your homework?” his azure blue eyes were serious, like his expression. Sora… wasn't kidding? He never took homework seriously!

Tidus blinked, scratching the back of his head. “Huh…? Should I be asking if you're okay?” He mumbled, vaguely confused. Sora looked immensely confused-almost mirroring the blonde's look when he said his ever-common `Huh?'. “… no-o. I'm fine. I'm passing all my classes. You're failing math. Not the other way around.” Tidus laughed, yanking his own book bag out, digging for his math book.

“But why are you so serious about it? It's like you've been around Auron too much.” He noted, dropping onto the two-seated couch. Sora was quiet for a second, drifting off into his memories of the months before, and then the year he disappeared. Well, a lot of things had changed… “Hey, while I was on the mainland, things happened. I changed.” He stated, trying to shrug it off as he plopped right next to the blonde. Tidus nodded, then smiled weakly.

He flipped the pages of his math book, stopping at a used sheet. He stared at the near-blank page for a few moments before snapping it shut and grinning at the brunette. “Oh, I finished my math, can we go to something else~?” He insisted, sweatdropping. Sora looked at him, raising a thin eyebrow. “… really?” he had a slight flashback to a couple of weeks ago, when Kairi had warned him that he usually didn't do his homework-but said he did. Hence, he never got everything done. “Then can I check it?” “No need!” Tidus said quickly, glancing away. They both knew the older was screwed. “You are a reallllllly bad liar.” Sora said with a shake of his head. “Even worse then Riku. Which problems do you have down, at least?”

Tidus sighed, yanking the book back open before surrendering it to Sora. He skimmed the sheet before glancing back up to the blonde, eyebrow arched. “…4 out of 30?” The older sweatdroped, jerking the text away. “Yeah, yeah, I know. But I have better things to do~” He whined, light blue eyes landing on the door longingly. “… you… got number two wrong…” Sora said awkwardly, standing up and dragging his finger down the page. “… and it's not even multiple choice.” The blonde's head lowered as he said this, hunched over in a shamed position. “It was a trick question?” “…The letter b isn't even in the equation.”

Tidus was silent, bangs in his eyes with an embarrassed blush. “What can I say? I've got better things to think of in class…” and averted his eyes up to the ceiling. Sora arched an eyebrow, leaning forward.

“Likee~?”

Tidus leaned away, cheeks still pinkened. “Likee… stuff.”

“That's not descriptive enough. No wonder you have a D in writing.”

“Huh?”

Sora just grinned for a moment, closing his eyes. He looked so innocent… but devious. What the hell was he thinking…? Tidus studied the younger boys' face, and tried to screw up his eyes and lips into the same position. Sora glanced up, then snorted loudly, bending over to contain a fit of giggles. It didn't work, and the younger burst into laughter. Tidus gained another wide grin and victory pose. “Finally. Now you look more like the Sora I know.” He stated, looking quite relived. “I was starting to think you were some nagging, broody sort of clone or something!” Sora tilted his head slightly, and sort of frowned. “Who'd want to be my clone?” “Uhh…. Nobody?” Tidus joked, oblivious as always.

Sora frowned at the blonde, and just sighed. “Look, let's get back to the main topic here. Numbers 1 through 40.” Tidus groaned a little, leaning back into a slump. “Why-y?” he whined. “Because. No good grade, no fencing, and Kairi will kill me if they don't win.” Sora retorted, shaking his head and sitting down next to Tidus again, brushing past him to take his pencil and the sheet of paper.

The elder blushed slightly at the contact, and then looked over at him as he brushed his spikes back. `“Yeah, yeah, I know. But I have better things to do~”' what he said repeated in his mind-and why had he said that? … well, because it was true. `Better things', however, included daydreaming about the brunette.

---

Sora raked a hand through his spikes as they solved the tenth problem. It was already an hour later and they hadn't gotten very far. He was about to look over at the blond to explain polynomials (again!) before the phone rang. Tidus was jerked out of his daydream, giving that `huh?' look before getting up and taking the cord phone into his hands. “Tidus here. Huh? Oh, yeah… he's here.” The blonde becked Sora over, giving him the phone.

Sora looked a little nervous as Riku explained the sudden trouble, loudly responding, “Riku, don't move and get Kairi out of there! I'll be there!”

The brunette raced back to his messenger bag, Tidus recognizing the many key chains and raising an eyebrow as he took one that was white and pearl colored. Sora turned his blue eyes to Tidus and bit his lower lip. “You can't tell anyone about what you're going to see.” He warned. Tidus slowly nodded, looking slightly apprehensive before Sora stood straight. He jerked his arm to the side, making a flash of light appear with his Keyblade, the Kingdom Key, a few sparks coming from it.

He quickly clipped the Oathkeeper key chain on the end, letting it quickly morph into the white Keyblade. Tidus's eyes widened considerably, stepping a few paces forwards. “What… is that?” he asked dumbly, blinking. “The Keyblade.” Sora replied with a sigh. “I was hoping I wouldn't have to use it here…”

“Where else have you used it? Ooh, right-the mainland!” Tidus exclaimed triumphantly. Sora briefly wished he was right…

“No.” the Keyblade Master muttered. “On other worlds. I promise I'll tell you everything later, but right now, Riku and Kairi are in trouble.” The blonde's eyes widened, “What happened to `em?”

“Heartless… they're the things that come from the darkness in people heart's. Like I said, explain later. We've got to get to the docks now.” He stopped, looking back at Tidus, determined. “I need you to take me to the island-that's where they are.” Tidus paused, looking down from the Keyblade to Sora. “… do I need some sort of weapon?”

Sora half-smiled, and shook his head. “Don't worry, I'll protect you.”
