Lord Of The Rings Fan Fiction ❯ Blood War ❯ Prologue ( Prologue )
[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
Man, the high race, the rulers of all, everything is there prey. Kings of the day, they are unstoppable. With there great knowledge and recourses, nothing Mother Nature can produce will stand in there path. With there power, they could utterly destroy her. They would strip her of her creations, use up her recourses, and throw the world into darkness by there own greed.
They rule by day, so Mother Nature created the Kings of the night.
Yes, it is true. We are not demons, tossed up from hell to punish the living, but created by the earth herself to protect her from her children. She gave us there wisdom, there strength, and there rights. But she also gave us more. To rule the night is our destiny, what with our keen eyes, swift bodies and heightened senses. To control the plague of humans is our responsibility, what with the very thirst for there blood twisting our stomachs. To protect Mother Earth is our goal, for she gave us a deep connection with her, one humans will never know or understand.
She created us, the Vampires, as the predators of the human race.
We were her only hope, her bloody hope, but we worked.
The Arihant, which means `one who has killed his enemies' in our ancient tongue were the beast of our kind. They are the main ones the humans know and fear, for all they have is lust to drive them. They are believed to be Earth's first try of our kind, so they have many mistakes. They live like animals in caves, and have curved, deformed bodies; so they often times walk on all fours. They feast on the humans and hunt them without pity, for that is what they were created to do. They are rarely seen by our kind anymore, but we still protect them when the humans find a nest, and they come to our aid in times of trouble and battle.
Kartikeya, or `war people' where the second of our kind. They were much smarter then the Arihant, but they were still only driven for there need to kill the Prey. Whatever they built was for war, whatever they thought was toward death. They have no poems, no songs, no stories, and a government ruled by fighting within them. When we need the minds of war, we call to them, and they gladly answer. There minds are great, and they have created many machines to use against the humans in both attack and defense.
Raman's are known as `pleasing' for our kind. They were the first to have more on there minds then fighting. In fact, they barely have it on there minds at all. They almost never kill humans, and some have even turned to drinking animal blood instead of our natural Prey. Some of the Vampire communities hate the Ramans, and some treasure them. They were the ones who gave us songs, culture, dance, and a sense of light. It was them who first organized our legends of Mother Earth and created our bible. They too were the ones who gave us culture, markets, and a new idea of government. They were the other side of the Kartikeya and Arihant, but were not the ones Earth was looking for.
Then she found it, her protectors, in the blood of the Rajanikant.
`Lords of night' for that is what they truly are. They are the perfect blend of animal and humanity, hate and love, spirit and demon, good and bad. It was them who have the lust to hate the humans, the mind to think of other things, the power to create, and the power to grow. Magic was one of the new things they brought to Vampires; along with mining, commercial farming and best of all, and a strong bloodline to rule. The Ishwar or the `supreme ruler' line goes back many generations, and has always produced a strong ruler to take the thrown.
For a while, things went as planned. The humans, though not wiped out, shrunk too much smaller numbers and were halted in there spread around the world. The Vampires did there duty, growing stronger and stronger each season, though never becoming destructive like the Prey had been.
But Earth forgot one important person in this creation, and that was Moon himself.
While the sun is worshiped by humans, Moon felt that he should be worshipped by the people of the night. They respected him, but he was not considered god. The jealous Moon became angry, so he made his own people, the ones Vampires consider there mortal enemies.
The Elves.
These fair folk were much like the Vampires; strong, intelligent, and with a deep understanding of the balance. But they had no need to feed upon the humans, and hated the Vampires from the first two created. They found our weaknesses and learned to shatter out defenses. It was a elf who killed the first Vampire, by plunging a state through his heart. Once they knew that, they spread the knowledge; through there kind and into the human world. Now that the Prey had weapons, they loved the Elves deeply and saw them as there saviors. As the Elves learned more about us, our world began to plunge.
But as they learned, we learned to.
The Rajanikant found a potion, that when placed upon a weapon, would kill a Elf with the smallest of cuts. Raman's discovered a special spell. When fused it with clothing, Vampires could go out in daylight. The Kartikeya broke away from there rules of war and punishment and began to create cruel weapons and fighting styles; ones that they had known for generations but thought even to bloody for themselves.
And the Arihant, who had no knowledge, simply began to breed like mad. There population tripled in size, and none of the other clans tried to stop them, like they had before. They also became recluse, and seemed to gain a little understanding of there Prey. They began to go after leaders and important people of the Humans, instead of simply going in and killing.
And so the Blood War began. Elves against Vampires, with humans in the middle. This war has taken many lives, and has gone on for thousands of years. Neither side looks as if they will win, for many do not know how the war itself should end.
But when Saruon created the ring, the Vampires got an idea. To destroy the elves, they must work from the inside. They would create a weapon that no Elf or Prey would see coming, and the Rajanikant knew just how to do it.
The war will end with the Blood-Red Moon…….
