“Keitaro! You'll pay you lecher!”

Naru had found Keitaro in yet another precarious position which involved him landing on Shinobu. Keitaro waved his hands.

“No! Narusagewa! It's not what you think!”

But it was too late; Naru was already winding up what looked like a particularly painful Naru-punch. Keitaro gulped. Here goes nothing. He thought as he readied himself for the blow. POW! Keitaro was immediately blown through the roof and into the clear blue sky. When he opened his eyes, he was rocketing through the air. He rubbed the spot on his face where Naru had hit him. “Man, Naru sure has a mean left hook!” He said to himself. He down to see how far up he was. As usual, he could only see a speck where the Hinata Inn had once been. Calmly, Keitaro reached into his back pocket and took out his wallet. When he opened it, he found it empty. “Crap.” He sighed. “I hate it when I'm broke.” Growing bored, Keitaro began throwing his pocket lint and watching it drift downward. Keitaro began to feel his accent begin to slow and turn into a decent. This was odd. He should have been here by now Keitaro thought, growing nervous. What if he's busy or something! Oh crap. Keitaro felt himself fall faster and faster with the ground coming closer by the second. “AIIIIIEEEEEEEE!” Keitaro screamed as he came dangerously close to the ground. Suddenly, the air became very cold. There was a flash of silver from underneath Keitaro, then the air seemed to rip, exposing a black hole. A bony hand reached out from the hole and yanked Keitaro inside.

Keitaro breathed heavily and held his chest. That had been a close call. Still not being able to see a thing because of the surrounding blackness, Keitaro began to feel around for something to help himself up. Suddenly, a cold, raspy voiced hissed behind Keitaro.

Aasssk Not whom the Bearer tooold, for he haaas come for Theee.”

Keitaro jumped out of his skin and whipped around. He was met by the sight of a skeleton in black robes holding a large, menacing scythe. Keitaro glared.

“You scared the crap outta me, man!”

Grim fell onto the floor rolling with laughter.
“Sorry, Keitaro. I just couldn't resist!” The cold voice from before was replaced by a normal, kindly voice. Keitaro's expression lightened.

“It's okay. Cutting it close on the pick-up huh?” Grim shrugged.

“I had to truck it over from Africa. Another poor guy got trampled by elephants.” Keitaro smirked.

“Too bad he didn't know you have a weak point for cards.” Grim laughed again.

“Yeah. You ready? I've got the cards and some cokes.” Keitaro frowned.

“Sorry Grim, but I'm just not in the mood today.” Grim put his arm around Keitaro's shoulder.

“What's a matter? You look like, well, me.” Keitaro sighed.

“It's just everything. I mean, I try to be a good manager, a good student…and a good man, but it seems everyone's against me.” Grim gave Keitaro a noogie.

“I'm here for ya, dude. And what do you mean a good man? That's kinda hard to mess up.” Keitaro blushed a little.

“Well… it's… Narusagewa.” Grim sighed and walked over to his scythe.

“You're still hung up on this girl? After she's punched, kicked, humiliated…” Keitaro cut in.

“All that stuff's true, but she's got a really great side too.” Grim shook his head.

“You mortals astound me. Always seeing the best in people.” They sat in silence for a minute, then Grim walked over to Keitaro. “You know, I think I can help you out.” Keitaro raised an eyebrow.

“How?”

Grim slung his scythe over his shoulder. “Well, the big man upstairs issued a `miracle weekend' where no one is supposed to die, so I have a little time off.” He gave Keitaro a boney grin and tossed him his scythe. “You'll need it more than me.” Keitaro looked at Grim, awestruck.

“But…how…what…who?” Grim raised a hand.

“For this week, I'm giving you my powers. No strings or reasonability attached.” Keitaro looked at the scythe, then back at Grim. “Since this is a week no one can die, you can't accidentally kill anyone, and all my other powers could prove…useful.” Grim did what was supposed to be a wink, but obviously had to improvise. Keitaro got over his shock, then stood.

“Thanks Grim, but I don't even know how to use your powers!” Grim shook his head.

“That won't be a problem. You see, all you have to do to use my power is think about what you want to do, then wave your hand, point a finger, wave that sucker,” he pointed at the scythe. “Or anything else you can think of, then poof! You got it! All you have to do is shake my hand.” Grim held out his hand. Keitaro, however, hesitated.

“Will I… you know…” Grim realized what he was getting at, and laughed.

“Oh no no no! You'll keep your skin, organs and etc.” Keitaro sighed with relief.

“Okay, then here we go!” Keitaro reached out and grabbed Grim's hand. The second he made contact, Keitaro felt a wave of cold rush over him. Eerie lights began to swirl around him faster and faster, then plunged into his chest. The force knocked both of them backwards. Keitaro propped himself up with his elbows. Grim sat up.

“Great rush, huh?” Keitaro let out a half nervous, half excited laugh.

“You ever do that before?” Grim nodded.

“Yeah once. I gave it to a guy named Jack, but he went on a killing spree, never got caught. Real nutcase that one. No good at cards, either.” The two of them laughed, then got up.

“Soo, how do I get home?”

“Just how I told you, but for that, use the scythe.” Grim turned to leave.

“Wait! Where are you gonna go?” Keitaro called back.

“Oh, I think I'm gonna go find a good card place. Not much time to with work and all.” With that, Grim disappeared into the darkness. After watching him disappear, Keitaro turned back to the task at hand. Okay he thought, just think about it…Hinata Inn! Keitaro heaved the scythe, which now seemed surprisingly light, over his head and sliced through the air. There was a ripping noise, then a flash of light. Keitaro looked where he had brought the scythe down to see a hole with the reflection of Hinata Inn shimmering within it. Keitaro took a deep breath, then stepped inside. There was another flash, and then Keitaro Urishima was gone.
