Chapter 1
Be Okay! Please.

~And in hand and hand we walked through the sand, yes walked through the sand~

Present

He walked on for what seemed like forever until he came to a great big stone. Anyone who would look at him would know that he was used to the trek since his body didn't bare an ounce of sweat. He dusted grovel and leaves that were lying in front of the stone, finally coming to a crouch and sitting down.
As he sat by his known favorite place, the place he had been coming to for three years; he picked through the grass with his fingers. A nervous habit he had grown accustomed to.
It was always the same. Everytime he came over to where he was. He would sit down and start to talk about nothing and everything; `nonsense' he would often think; but still at least something. As his mind would relax his fingers would take their own course of action and begin to tug at the growing weeds nearby.
He let out an audible heavy sigh and smiled up at the lovely stone.
“I've missed you.” He whispered to the lonely stone.

"Ritsuka are u ok?" Soubi felt Ritsuka tremble as they got near the boys house. Ritsuka had been extremely quiet for the day even when he was always so serious; it had surprised him about Ritsuka's behavior today. He had even kissed him and not been pushed away as always; on the contrary Ritsuka had kissed back leaving a very confused but pleased Soubi. It was not like him, the boy had always kept a distance between them. He did not comment about it though, if Ritsuka was finally going to open up to him he would wait patiently.

Ritsuka looked up at Soubi and smiled. Soubi was taken aback; he had almost forgotten how beautiful the boys face was when he smiled. It made Ritsuka seem more innocent and charming. And thus the boy did it less then often which made him complain about it on occasions. He recollected himself putting his natural mask on. It wasn't good letting the boy see him blushing by a mere smile. It was embarrassing to him as well.

"Yeah...just a bit cold." Ritsuka said answering Soubi's question.

Soubi thought he saw a twinge of sadness in the boy's eyes but shrugged it off when the look was gone before he could really grasp it, taking off his fur jacket he put it over Ritsuka's shoulders.

"That'll warm you up for now." Soubi said wrapping his own arms around the boy a smile blooming his face. As they kept walking to the house Soubi didn't see Ritsuka look away a frown marring his face. When they rounded a corner and arrived at Ritsuka's house Soubi took the boys small face in his hand.

Soubi recited a song he heard yesterday in his mind, sighing.

“And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now”

"I love you Ritsuka" Soubi said looking into the boys eyes before lowering down his head and kissing Ritsuka swiftly. When Soubi looked at Ritsuka he noticed the boy blushing furiously and smiled.

"See you tomorrow my chibi" He said before parting off to his own house with a smirk across his face.

“Baka!, I'm no chibi!” Ritsuka yelled after the adult turning his back with an annoyed expression but not missing the wave that Soubi sent without turning around.

A man standing in the shadows watched with a smirk gracing his lips. `We shall see what dear Mytoko will do after my devastating visit.' He walked slowly out of his hiding place as he saw Ritsuka start to open the door to the house. `After all, not always does one receive a visit from a dead son.' He chuckled a little. `Or so she thinks.' He crouched down near a tree out of Ritsuka's sight. `This is my revenge Master Seimei for preferring him, Soubi. You both will loose what you hold most dear. Or what you once held Master.' He chuckled a little more to himself finding a comfortable place to sit and watch as things unraveled.

“And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight”

Before Ritsuka walked inside the house he looked around him and toward the streets as he felt a twinge of fear, feeling as if someone had been watching him with malice intent shrugging off the feeling he continued inside.
Everything was dark inside the house and there was an eerie silence. Not even a single light was on. Ritsuka let out a heavy sigh. `Maybe she's not here yet,' he thought. He brought up his arm to see the time and noticed he still had on Soubi's fur jacket. `I'll give it back later.' He started walking toward the stairs deciding to take a bath then to sleep. As he got to the stairs his eyes shot wide in surprise when he saw a shadow before the steps. The fear he had felt before going inside his house came back with full force making him panic slightly.

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

"Where have you been, I made your favorite food and you did not arrive" the figure on the steps whispered.

Ritsuka jumped at the sudden voice trying to recollect himself as he calmed down as he noticed it was just his mother. Through the fear that stayed within him did not go away. He couldn't see her expression since it was dark. Even though her tone was neutral he couldn't really tell if she was angry which meant, `maybe' today he would get away without a scratch.

Deciding it was best to answer her than try to figure out her state of mind he walked a few steps closer so he could see her better in the darkness. "Mother, I went to the park for a whi...” Ritsuka didn't get to finish what he was about to say since she in those moments chose to show him just how happy she was of his tardiness by shoving him against the wall and pinning him by the neck.

"You are not my Ritsuka, Don't call me mother! He would have come straight home after school! What have you done to my Ritsuka!! Give him back!" she said smacking him hard across the face.

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
And you bleed just to know you're alive

He tried avoiding her blows but figured it was useless without hurting her in the process so he stood still taking all she was giving him. She threw him to the floor and kicked him hard in the stomach.

"I want my Ritsuka back!” She yelled while sobbing at the same time.

Ritsuka kept receiving the blows to his stomach trying to part his mind from his body but it was impossible as she kicked him in the thorax making him heave and letch on the floor trying to bring oxygen to his lungs.

"You dirty filth!” She took Ritsuka by the hair making him look at her.

"Its your fault Semei`s gone!, Its your fault Ritsuka's gone! What have you done to my family you disgusting boy!" Making him stand up while pinning him to the wall once again with a death grip

"You killed my family!" She said letting go of his throat as if all her strength had left her completely.

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

Ritsuka slid down the wall trying to catch his breath and finding it difficult since his throat was bruised and swollen and his lungs felt like they were on fire. `I know mom' he thought looking up to where she had positioned herself against the wall. `I wish I could be the old Ritsuka. I know I don't belong here. But I'm trying. I'm trying very hard to be him. But I just can't remember.' His eyes started filling up with tears. `I just wish…it would all end.' Tears he held back were now falling freely down his red cheek. With fist clenched into his shirt across his chest he kept on heaving trying to find the necessary air he needed.

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

He looked up at his mother once again as he tried getting up from the floor deciding it be best to run to his room and escape to Soubi's apartment to recover.
His mother had a crazed looked on and was mumbling something to herself which seemed to sound like a jumble of `I got to end this. He doesn't deserve this. I don't deserve this. Just him and I'll have Seimei...he's not my Ritsuka…' His eyes grew wide as she started righting herself from where she was turning to face him a determined but wild look in her eyes. He lowered his gaze toward her hands when he saw something sparkling from the corner of his eyes. He watched her hands in a surprised realization knowing he wasn't imaging things it was there and there was no running from this.

In his stupor of surprise he didn't notice when she launched herself at him until she grabbed his arm in a vice like grip. He struggled to free himself until he felt a sharp sting run threw his arm. He grabbed where his mother had just cut him with the knife and tried to run finally yanking himself out of her grasp.

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

But his mother caught his arm once again before he could escape making him emit a yelp as she pinned him to the wall. His eyes grew distant as he looked down to where his mothers' hands were. The knife was completely embedded into his abdomen. He started sliding to the floor his hands touching the knife. His mother backed away looking at him.

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am…

"Give me back my Ritsuka! Give him back to me, it's all I want! Just give me back my Ritsuka!!" She finished in a broken sob.

I just want you to know who I....
am

With tears still running down his now pale face Ritsuka looked into her eyes and saw, as hers grew big.
"Ritsuka" She whispered before turning around and leaving the house.
Ritsuka grabbed the hilt of the knife that was still stuck into him and pulled it out yelling.
"So...this i..is...it" he said almost inaudibly. `Am I going to be with you again Seimei?. Are we going to be together again...onii-chan.'

Soubi was almost near his apartment a frown marring his face; he'd been feeling a little off since he left Ritsuka at his house. It was a gut like feeling as if something was very wrong. Looking around himself he then noticed he was missing something; his coat. `Gives me reason to check on him quickly' he thought even though it was kind of idiotic to feel uneasily so suddenly.
He dug into his pocket reaching for his cell phone. He'd call Ritsuka to inform him he was going to go get his jacket just in case the boy decided he didn't want any company.

Soubi marked the number and waited for Ritsuka to answer as he had already started walking towards Ritsuka`s house again. But there was no answer. Soubi tried again. Then he heard the click which meant the connection between the phones.

"Ritsuka I left my coat'...Ritsuka?" Soubi didn't get an answer. The only thing he heard was some heavy breathing and a moan.
"Ritsuka are you alright?" still he didn't receive an answer. Instead he heard someone pressing a button twice. Now Soubi was getting really nervous.
"Ritsuka is it you?" he heard the sound of a button again but this time it was pressed only once. Soubi stared at his cell phone in confusion. He brought it back to his ear and he noticed the breathing was becoming heavier and it hitched on occasions.
"Ritsuka are you hurt?" Then he heard a button again.
"Is that a yes?" and again he heard it. Soubi picked up his stride to almost a run berating himself for not listening to his own discomfort earlier when he felt like something was wrong.
"Ritsuka don't end the call keep with me" he said in an almost frantic tone. He heard a soft moan from the other side and Soubi started running toward Ritsuka`s house.
"Ritsuka I'm almost there" he said in a wavering voice. Soubi noticed Ritsuka`s breathing was getting very slow and as if he was having difficulty doing so. Soubi saw the house from a distance.
"I'm almost there, don't worry" He said it more to himself than to the phone.
Soubi arrived to the front door and opened it noticing it was slightly ajar. All the lights were off. But he could see something a few steps away on the floor. He lowered his hand in which he had the cell phone and started walking towards the figure on the floor. `Please be okay, please be okay'. He kept chanting in his mind.

But what he saw made him pause and the color in his face drain. He could hear his heartbeats thundering in his ears as his hands started trembling as they stretched out towards the figure.

Hey I'm Ales(short for alessa) I'm from PR. (Puerto Rico) my English is kinda quacky since I haven't gone to the US in more than a decade. So I pardon for all the errors there may be. I'm in the process of deciding if I should write a book since I've been accepted by a publisher. But I'm kinda in a depressed mode where I think my stories are all horse crap (no offense for the horsies) this story was put on fanfiction . net some years back. I never really got to fix it or edit the parts I found unnecessary and the parts I wanted to add. So could you please review and tell me (mind you.. you do not have to be gentle, meaning if you have to say things harshly do so. It'll make me feel better) how it was?. Thanxs. Any private communication you can add me to msn: alessa_186 @ hotmail . com
