Zero was standing nervously at the street corner.

Today was the big day, the day that he wasn't sure if he was looking forwards to or wishing for it never to come.

Her first date with Iris.

Zero had known Iris for over a week now, both reploids were in some sort of relationship but they hadn't gone out on any dates yet.

Till now, of course.

Even now Zero didn't understand what Iris saw in him. Maybe it was true what they say, opposites attract.

Zero looked up at the big clock on the building on the other street, it was already 6:30 in the afternoon. The sun was beginning to set over the horizon.

He let out a sigh. Iris was half an hour late for their date.

Zero couldn't help but remember what X had told him, about girls usually being late on dates.

This being the first date in Zero's life, he really was at a lose about what he was supposed to do. That's why the red maverick-hunter had to ask for some pointers to his lifelong friend, X.

After all, no other reploid had X's … skill … to make good impression with girls. X wasn't called the "Reploid Romeo" for nothing.

X had had more girlfriends that Zero could ever count, in fact, there had been rumors going around the Maverick Hunters HQ that even human girls found X attractive! Of course that X only dated reploid girls, but still …

Zero on the other hand was very cold and self centered, never talking much with anyone about anything. If it weren't for Iris' perseverance he probably would have never agreed to this date. He just couldn't say no when she asked him something.

"Zero! Hi!"

Zero was taken back to reality when he heard Iris' voice. He turned around to see her jogging over to where he was. She was wearing a red, white and blue dress, with a red beret on her head, her long brown hair tied up in a ponytail.

She looked stunning in Zero's eyes, and the red armored reploid couldn't help but blush. (For those of you who think that reploids can't blush, I think they can, after all, they had been built to emulate humans in every way possible)

"H … hello Iris." Said Zero as Iris reached him.

"I'm sorry to keep you waiting," apologized Iris, then she noticed what Zero was wearing, "you are going to wear your armor to our date?" Asked the girl reploid.

"Hum, sorry. It's the only clothes I have." Explained Zero.

Iris smiled, causing Zero to blush even more. "That's okay Zero."

"So. Where are you going to take me on our date?" Asked Iris.

"Hum, well … I was thinking that we could go to that new reploid fair downtown." Replied Zero.

Iris' face lit up with happiness, "Really? That's great, I had been wanting to go to there for a while now."

Zero gave a mental thank you to X. The fair had been his idea.

"Okay then, shall we get going?" Asked Zero.

Iris nodded with a smile. "Okay."

About twenty minutes later, Zero and Iris were at the entrance of the reploid fair. The fair had been done by reploids, for reploids, to emulate the ones where humans went to have fun. After all, reploids also liked to have some fun once in a while.

After buying two tickets, Zero and Iris were just entering the fair, when Zero heard a familiar voice coming from his left.

"Hey Zero!"

Zero and Iris stopped, and turned to the side.

It was X. He was wearing his regular blue armor, minus the helmet. X had his right arm around the waist of a very nice reploid girl, her armor was a shiny violet color, and her hair was a light brown that reached just past her shoulders. She too had her arm around X's torso.

"Friends of yours Zero?" Asked Iris as she saw the other two reploids walking towards them.

"You could say that." Answered Zero, "Hello X."

"Nice to see you." Said the blue reploid, then he noticed Iris standing close to Zero, "Ah, you must be Iris. You know, Zero talks about you all the time."

Zero blushed and looked at the floor, while Iris giggled. "He does?" She asked.

"Sure." Replied X, then he grinned as he looked at Iris. "You know, you're a lot prettier in person."

Hearing X's comment, Iris blushed a crimson red, and also looked down at the floor, Zero on the other side was starting to get annoyed.

"So X," commented Zero casually, "who's she?"

"Oh, sorry. Zero, Iris, this is Alita. Alita, this is my friend Zero and his girlfriend Iris." X commented, as casually as Zero had just a second ago. "Nice to meet you." Acknowledged Alita.

Zero and Iris both blushed, a lot, as they heard how X introduced Iris as Zero's girlfriend. The blue reploid must have noticed since he was smiling.

'Well, I see that you two are going to enjoy the fair, so we won't bother you anymore." Said X, as both he and Alita walked away, both still with an arm around each other. "Nice talking to you." Added Alita.

"Tell the guys at Hunter HQ not to wait up for me!" Waved X as he walked away, without turning to see them. Right after that, X and Alita shared a quick kiss and continued walking.

Iris and Zero just watched the two reploids walk away.

"I see that your friend is quite the charmer." Commented Iris.

"That's putting it lightly." Answered Zero.

The Maverick ran trough the streets, trying to get away from the two Maverick Hunters dead in his tracks.

He ran into an empty alley, and watched how the two Maverick Hunters ran past him with an evil tint in his shiny red eyes.

"Fools." The Maverick muttered, then he looked around. Looking for a target to get, he grinned like a psychopath as he saw the new reploid fair just a few blocks away.

The Mavercik quickly jumped from building to building, heading towards the fair, ready to wreck havoc among the poor reploids that were there.

Zero aimed carefully, when he was sure, fired.

CLANG!

"Bull's eye!" Exclaimed Zero, giving himself a thumbs up.

"Very good Zero!" Cheered Iris from the side.

The yellow reploid behind the counter at the shooting fair game was shocked at Zero's skill. The red reploid had made five bull's eyes in a row. Needles to say that Zero had just made a perfect score.

"C … congratulations sir. Here's your prize." The yellow reploid handed Zero a big stuffed teddy bear.

Zero turned to look at Iris, and gave her the teddy bear. "Here you go Iris. Like I promised."

Iris smiled and took the teddy bear, hugging it tightly to her chest with both arms. "Oooh … it's SO CUTE! Thank you Zero!"

Zero blushed, "Hum, you are welcome Iris." A pause, "hum … what do you want to do now?" he asked.

"That! I want to go to that game!" Said Iris, pointing at one of the games of the fair.

Zero turned to look. The game was a slow ride called the 'spider' were people get into a small cage with seats, and the spider's 'legs' gave them a slow pleasant ride till they were so high up that they could see the whole fair.

Zero gulped when he noticed that the ride was the sort of one that couples went to. But when he noticed Iris' sad face at his hesitation, he nodded. "Okay Iris, let's go."

Iris smiled and followed him as the two got into one of the cages, and sat on the plastic seats as the ride started.

Unknown to them, the red eyed Maverick on the run from before had also gotten into the same mechanic attraction.

The two Maverick Hunters had found out that the Maverick had entered the reploid fair, and was now probably merging with the crowd, waiting for the right moment to strike.

They were looking around the different places in the fair, when one of them suddenly spotted the Mavercik as it was getting into the 'spider'.

"There he is!" Said the Mavercik Hunter, pointing at the run away Maverick.

"Let's get him!" Said the other hunter, and both of them ran towards the game.

The two Maverick Hunters made their way to the ride by pushing away the reploids in the crowd, when they finally reached the ride, the cage with the Maverick was very high up already.

"Maverick Hunters! There's a Maverick there! Stop the ride!" Ordered one of the hunters at the red reploid that was controlling the ride.

"I … I can't, not till it stops by itself." Explained the reploid nervously.

"I said stop it!" The Maverick Hunter pushed the reploid aside, and started to pull levers on the control panel at random.

CRACK!

"What the …"

All of a sudden, electric sparks came from the control panel, as the spider stopped dead in its tracks, leaving everyone that was in it high up above ground level.

"What happened!?" Asked the hunter that had messed up the levers.

"You broke the mechanism! They're all stuck up there!" Explained the red reploid.

Zero sat on the seat of the medium sized cage. It seemed like it could fit two more reploids in it, but right now it was just him and Iris.

Iris sat across from him, her knees on the seat as she started in wonderment at the landscape of the fair.

"Wow! Zero! Look at this!" She said without turning back from what she was watching.

Zero looked out the cage's bars, to see how the whole fair had lit up its night lights, since the sun was almost completely set on the horizon. Zero had to admit that it was a rather magnificent view. It wasn't like him to just sit and look at the nice things in life, as he realized that being with Iris made him appreciate this kind of things more.

He was so lost in his thinking that he never noticed when Iris sat up from his seat, and sat down on the seat right next to him.

"Hum … Zero …" Said Iris softly.

Just then Zero realized where Iris was, and blushed as he noticed how close she was from him. "Hum … y … yes Iris? Wha … what is it?"

"When that friend of your, X, introduced us he … he introduced me as your girlfriend." Commented Iris, also blushed a little.

Zero blushed even more, and turned his head away so she wouldn't notice. "I … I'm sorry … I'll have a talk with him later about that."

"Oh … okay."

What? What did she mean by that? Zero turned his head to look back at Iris, and noticed that she looked kind of disappointed.

"Does that mean that we aren't … well … you know. Are we?" Asked Iris.

"Hum … I … I … hum … no … I mean yes … I mean … I don't know … I never …" Zero muttered as best he could, his cheeks were as red as his armor.

Iris looked up and giggled. "It's okay Zero, you don't have to answer me, I can tell what you think by just looking at you."

Zero didn't know if he should feel happy or embarrassed. He just looked down, his feet suddenly seeming very interesting.

"Zero … do … do you like me?" Asked Iris, she also wasn't looking at him.

Hearing that question, Zero looked up to look at her. "Yes Iris, I do. I like you very, very much." He answered.

Iris looked up to him, a bright smile on her features. "Oh Zero … I really like you too."

Zero felt very happy at hearing Iris say that, in fact he didn't even notice her getting closer to him till a second later.

Iris's face was getting closer to him, her eyes closed, her lips opened slightly. She was about to kiss him.

Zero didn't know what to do, how to react. He just closed his eyes and waited for the kiss …

CRACK!

… but it never came.

The ride went still all of a sudden, the cages suddenly began to shake from the sudden stop. Screams of fear started to sound all around the game, and from inside the game.

When the cage finally stopped shaking, Iris was hugging Zero with all her might, burying her face in his armor's chest plate.

"Zero!" She cried in fear, "Zero, what's happening! Why did the game stop!"

Zero felt how his fearless Maverick Hunter side took over him, a determined look in his eyes as he looked at Iris and at the different cages hanging around the one they were in.

"I'm not sure Iris. Let me take a closer look." Zero gently untangled her arms from his, and walked over to take a closer look at what was going on.

He saw what seemed like two Maverick Hunter rookies at the bottom of the game, messing up with the control panel's levers. Then he began to look around, if there were Maverick Hunters on duty here, then it meant that there was a Maverick on the lose, most probably in this very game.

Zero began to look at every cage that had someone that looked suspicious. Most of the cages had young reploid couples, all except one.

The cage had a lone rurple armored reploid.

Zero gave the Maverick a quick look, his armor was almost entirely light green, except for the shining red eyes, and his fists and legs, that were white. It wasn't very big, but it was strong looking. In the middle of his chest plate it had what it looked like a deep blue crystal. He didn't have any weapons that showed, so if it had any, they were internal.

Reaching out the bars, Zero opened the cage's door. "Iris, wait here. I'll be right back."

"Zero! Please don't leave me here!" Iris pleaded.

"I'm sorry Iris. I have to, or else a lot of innocent lives will be lost." He started to climb out of the cage and on the 'leg' that was holding it. "I'll be right back. That's a promise."

Iris was still worried, but nodded as she saw Zero climb onto the thin metal bar that was holding the cage up, and began to walk towards the center of the 'spider'.

When he was close enough, he jumped on to a close by metal bar, where the Maverick was.

The Maverick looked down as the two Maverick Hunters had found him, and stopped the ride. Then he heard a sound of something jumping on the metal car that held up his cage. Looking out, he saw a red armored reploid coming towards him.

The reploid was so famous that it didn't take him long to recognize him. "Zero! What's HE doing here!?" Asked the Maverick out loud. And then moved to also open his cage's door. "Whatever it is. I have to take him down, I'll be a legend among all Mavericks when they find out that I defeated the mighty Zero."

When the door opened, he climbed out and onto the metal bar of the cage.

Zero was walking carefully on the not so thick metal bar, when he noticed the Maverick climbing a few feet in front of him. Zero quickly took out his Z-sword. "Stop right there! I'm Maverick Hunter Zero!"

The Maverick smiled, "I know who you are." He said with an evil grin, "get ready!" The Maverick raised his fists in a battle ready position.

Without further warning, the Maverick jumped towards Zero. He extended his right leg for a flying kick in mid air. But Zero dashed forwards to dodge it, and the Maverick landed on the metal bar.

Zero turned around just in time to see how the Maverick extended his right palm, and out from it came a round sphere of energy. Zero managed to jump over it, but that in turn made the energy sphere continue until it hit the cage where Iris was, making it shake and twist.

"Aaah! Zero!" Yelled a scared Iris, as she hanged on to the seat she was sitting on.

"Iris!" Zero turned around to look if Iris was okay, and the Maverick took the opportunity to run towards the hunter, and punched Zero right on the face.

"Argh!" Zero took a few steps back from the hit, and rubbed his left cheek with his free hand. "Attacking from behind!? Coward!"

The Maverick resumed his battle ready position, and smiled evilly. "All's fair in love and war."

Zero tightened his grip on his Z-sword, and ran towards the Maverick.

The Maverick also ran towards Zero, fists ready to strike.

ZOOM!

Both combatants met in the middle of the metal bar, and stopped a few feet from each other. Standing with their backs at each other.

Zero fell on his knees, and put his free hand on the left side of his armor, where there was a small dent from the Maverick's attack.

The Maverick smiled as he saw how he had managed to hit Zero. But his smile soon disappeared as he looked down, and noticed that Zero had made a clear cut with his Z-sword, separating both his legs from the rest of his body.

"Curse you Zero!!" Without his legs, the Maverick loosed balance and began to fall down to the ground, where he was sure he could not endure the fall, no matter how good his armor was.

"It's over." Whispered Zero, as he placed his Z-sword back in its sheathe.

"Aaah! Zero! Help!"

Hearing Iris scream, Zero turned around, and gasped in surprise and fear.

The Maverick's energy sphere hadn't made more than a scratch on the cage, and Iris was okay. But the twisting and shaking of the cage that the energy sphere caused had weakened the small metal hook that was holding it to the metal bar, and it was about to break. The cage, along with Iris, was going to fall down any minute!

"Hang on Iris! I'm coming!" Said Zero, as he began to walk back to the center of the ride, to climb back to the metal bar where Iris was.

"Please Zero! Hurry up! Aaaah!" Iris closed her eyes in fear as the hook bent even more, there wasn't much time left. And Zero knew it.

There's no way I'll make it to the cage in time. Said Zero to himself, and I can't jump to there, it's too high up. Jump? Yes! That's it! Jump!

Zero ran to the edge of the metal bar, where he stood a few feet away and below Iris' cage. "Iris! Iris can you hear me!" Zero yelled.

Iris slowly opened her eyes, without letting go of the seat, or even standing up, she turned her face to look at Zero through teary eyes, the red hunter was standing on the metal bar just below her own.

"Zero! Zero I'm scared!" She cried.

"I know Iris! But you have to listen to me! The cage is going to fall down any second now, I won't be able to reach it in time!" Zero explained as fast as he could.

"No! No! Please help me Zero!" Pleaded Iris, now even more scared than before.

"Iris! Iris listen to me! You're going to have to jump!"

"Jump! I … I can't I'm too scared!" Iris closed her eyes in fear again.

"I know you are Iris, but I'll catch you! Believe me, I'll catch you! Now jump! Hurry, before it's too late!" Answered Zero.

Iris nodded slowly, and opened her eyes. Being extremely careful she started to get up from the seat, and stopped a little when the cage began to shake again. Then she grabbed the edge of the open door, and looked outside.

"Very good Iris. Now, whatever you do, don't look down!" Warned Zero.

Iris closed her eyes and nodded, and then she jumped as far as she could.

As soon as her feet left the cage's floor, the small metal cage fell down, crashing to the floor below them, breaking into pieces.

"Aaah!"

GRAB!

"Got you!"

It all happened so fast that iris didn't even notice, nor realized what she just did. When she leaped out, Zero managed to catch her with both arms, and the two of them were now safely on the metal bar.

Iris was shaking, her eyes closed tightly.

"Iris … are you okay?" Asked a worried Zero as he looked down at the reploid girl in his arms.

Slowly, Iris opened her eyes and looked up at Zero. She was relieved and happy that he saved her. "Zero! I was so scared!" She buried her face in his chest, crying.

Zero let out a sigh of relief, "It's alright Iris, everything is alright." He whispered.

Iris hadn't said a single word after the incident.

Zero had been very angry at the two hunter rookies that caused the malfunction on the fair ride. He had made it very clear to them that they had made abuse of authority, and endangered the lives of many innocent reploids, Iris and himself included. And Zero also saidthat he was going to have a talk with their superior the following day.

Needles to say the rookies were VERY upset.

When Zero had been done scowling the two rookies, he had checked how Iris was doing. The poor reploid girl had been sitting on one of the fair's benches, after the reploid paramedics had checked her for any injuries.

She just looked down at the floor, her hands on her lap. Neither doing nor saying anything at all.

Zero just asked her if she wanted him to take her back to her home, and Iris had only nodded her head yes, not even looking up at him.

Now the two of them were walking trough the streets in the middle of the night, neither of them saying anything. Iris remained with her head down, but Zero seemed worried about Iris, looking at her from time to time as they walked, to see if she said something or looked up from the floor, but no such luck.

And so, the whole trip from the fair to Iris' home had been in complete silence. Finally, the two reploids reached their destination.

"Well … here we are." Said Zero. Iris remained silent.

Zero turned around to leave, "Iris … I'm sorry that our date got ruined." Zero began to walk away …

"Wait." But he didn't get far, Iris placed a hand on his left shoulder.

Zero turned around at hearing Iris speak for the first time they left the fair. She was looking up at him, with pleading eyes. "My … my brother is out on an assignment this week … please stay." Said the girl reploid.

Zero was surprised at this, "Iris … are you sure?"

Iris nodded, "Yes Zero, I'm sure … please … I don't want to be alone right now."

Zero nodded slowly, and the two reploids entered Iris' home. It wasn't very big, but it was nice and comfy enough.

As both of them walked in, Iris closed the door behind her.

"Zero …" Iris said with a very soft voice, almost a whisper, "what happened at the fair …"

Zero interrupted her, "Iris, I'm really sorry about all that happened and…"

Now it was Iris' turn to interrupt him, "I know. That's not what I meant … I … we … at the ride, we … we were going to kiss and …"

"Iris … you don't have to …"

"I know … but I want to … I want for us to complete that kiss … I feel like I owe you something, something that I don't want to owe you." Iris explained, and walked closer to him.

Zero nodded as Iris was now just in front of him. The reploid girl closed her eyes and tilted her head sideways as she leaned closer to Zero, who also had his eyes closed as he too leaned closer to her.

Finally, their lips met in a loving kiss.

But it didn't end there.

First their lips parted as they explored each other's mouths with their tongues, the kiss went from a tender one to a very passionate tongue war.

As they kissed, Iris began to be more bold, she wrapped her hands around Zero, caressing the back of his head even though he was wearing his helmet, then she began to run her hands down his back.

Zero broke the kiss, "Please stop."

Iris stopped caressing his back, and looked at him a little bit of worry could be seen on her facial features behind her reddened cheeks, "Why?"

"B … Because if you kept that up, I wouldn't want you to

stop." Answered Zero, his cheeks also were as red as his armor.

Iris smiled seductively, "Who said I would stop?" She resumed the passionate kissing, and also resumed her caressing on his back.

Zero broke the kiss again, "I … I just like you a lot Iris. I don't want us to do anything that youre not ready for … what I mean is … are you sure about this?"

Iris nodded, "Yes Zero I'm sure. I have never been so sure in my life." Again she began to kiss him with even more passion.

Never breaking the kiss, the two began to move towards Iris' room, while they struggled out of their clothes.

A trail of red armor pieces, and a blue, white and red dress, covered the pathway from the entrance to Iris' room.

The two reploids were now inside Iris' recharge capsule (The reploid equivalent of a bed). It was big enough for both of them to fit in.

Reploids were meant to emulate human beings in every way possible. So it WAS possible for reploids to have sex.

Basically, the two reploids formed a electrical connection at their crotches, with that done, the two reploids began to upload and download pleasurable data into the other reploid. In other words, the reploids became one in body and 'soul'.

Right now, Zero and Iris had already connected each other, Zero's connector entering Iris' receptor hole.

When the connection was complete a small gasp came out of their mouths, as the pleasurable data interchange began.

Iris and Zero began to kiss anew, moaning into each others mouth, as the two began to move their hips in sync with each other, making the pleasurable data flow increase.

Their moans increased in intensity, both reploids experiencing this for the first time.

Was this how it felt every time? No wonder X does this almost every day! Though Zero.

Iris could feel Zero's being merging with her own inside her body, and she knew that Zero could feel the same thing, she could feel all his struggles, all the pain he ever felt from seeing his comrades fall under the attack of Mavericks, how lonely he felt sometimes because of it. A small tear came out of Iris' eyes, for the first time she understood everything Zero had been trough, how much he needed her, needed to feel loved by someone.

Iris realized then and there that she loved him, and she could feel that he loved her too, more than anything.

Zero also could feel Iris' being inside his own. Everything that she had ever felt, everything that she had ever lived, the incident at the fair, how scared she had been, how happy she felt when he rescued her, how she loved him. Yes, he could feel Iris' love for him, and he knew that he loved her too.

The data flow soon began to overflow, they knew that they were going to climax soon, so they increased the speed.

"Oh … OH! ZERO!"

"IRIS!"

Finally, like hitting a wall, the data went right back into the respective reploid in one fast download. Both Iris and Zero screamed each other's names, throwing their heads back, as their bodies were washed up by the reploid equivalent of an orgasm.

When it was over, both of them collapsed on the recharging capsule, Iris on top of Zero.

Iris rolled off him to lay by his side, and then snuggled closer to him, a content smile on both their faces.

Iris knew that Zero already knew what she was about to say, but she said it anyway. "I love you Zero." She said as she rested her head on his chest.

Zero stroked Iris' long brown hair, "I love you too Iris."

And then, the sleep soon claimed both of them, as the recharging capsule activated. For the first time in a long time, Zero didn't have any nightmares.
