Chapter 1: The Beginning of the End

Dr. Wily was sitting in his lab, cackling as usual. Bass was walking by the room when he heard the annoying cackling and yelled, "Shut up, old man." The insane old doctor didn't reply, just continued to cackle and work. God, he's been that way since he started to work on that new robot. Like that hunk of junk'll help. Megaman's too strong for any other robot. But I know I can beat him. Bass continued walking through the corridor, still echoing with the sound of Dr. Wily's laughing.

"Rock, guess who's here?" Roll asked from the living room. Rock, sitting on his bed, thinking about what Wily had meant about this new robot. *flashback* Megaman had once again beaten Dr. Wily. The insane doctor was already in his saucer, but he stopped for a moment and said, "Just you wait until I'm done with my latest creation. I promise you that it will destroy you and all your annoying friends." And before Megaman raised his buster to fire at him, Dr. Wily flew out of a hole where part of the roof had just been.*end flashback*
"Rock, are you ok?" This time, Roll was standing in his doorway, looking slightly concerned for her bigger brother. Rock looked up and smiled at her. "Yeah, sis. What's going on?" "Well, someone just arrived. I was wondering if you wanted to guess who it is." Roll replied, the concerned look slipping off of her face, replaced with a smile. The surprise was ruined, however, when the space-faring robot walked into Rock's room.
"Duo! How are you doing?" Rock said, smiling toward the bulky robot. "I'm doing good, Megaman. I came back to see how all of you were doing. As I have noticed, everyone is doing well. However, I haven't seen Protoman. Do either of you know where he is?" Megaman smiled and said, "He's probably off doing his own thing."

"All robots report to the construction lab immediately." Of course, all of the robots immediately teleported over to the bay. The room was full within seconds and Wily smiled his crazed smile. Bass, of course noticed something wrong. His eyes seemed more glazed over than normal and he had the startings of a beard. Even though the doctor was crazy, he normally kept up with his hygiene. "He smiled his toothy smile again before turning to the table, which had a sheet laying over what appeared to be a girl robot. Bass was about to sigh and shake his head, but when Wily pulled the sheet off of the robot, Bass felt like his servos had frozen.
On the tabe was not a girl robot, but an older looking guy robot. "This one's name is Zero. He has one purpose. To destroy all life and everything simulating life. Yes, my faithful robots, that includes you. There is only one human he is supposed to spare. That, of course, is me." Before Bass could so much as raise his buster, Wily pressed a button and Zero sat up. His eyes moved side to side as his boot-up procedures initiated, then completed.
He looked around the room, then said, "Beginning Objective One. Destroy all Life." He immediately jumped off the metal and looked at Dr. Wily. Dr. Wily smiled and said, "Now, destroy them, Zero. Destroy everyone." Dr. Wily smiled for a second, then he looked over at Zero, who pulled out his beam saber. Wily cried out in fear and yelled at his robots to stop Zero. The robots fired at Zero, but he dashed out of the way. He appeared in front of the group and grabbed Gemini Man's head. Zero squeezed and smiled cruelly, which was only enhanced by Gemini Man's fluids splashing on his face.
Sword Man ran forward, then swung his sword downwards toward the monstrous robot. Zero swung his Saber upward and cut the other sword in half, then, before anyone could stop him, swung back down on top of Sword Man, slicing him clean in half. More fluids sprayed around the room. Zero then turned to Junkman, who was magnetically gathering scrap from around the lab. Zero dashed over there and immediately pulled out his buster. Everything in there heard the whine of the buster as it charged. It let off a blast so powerful the room shook and the half of Junkman that thought was gone, as well as the entire wall behind him. Junkman's legs fell to the ground and continued spraying fluids as well.
In the space of a minute, Zero destroyed three of Wily's favorite robots. Zero smiled as he raced around and started destroying the rest of the various robots there. Bass and Treble ran over to Dr. Wily. Bass grabbed Wily and jumped on Treble, who had already transformed. "I'll let you explain to Dr. Light why you dared to do this." Wily was shaking now, not shaking as in, "Brr, it sure is cold" shaking. More like, "Oh dear god, I hit someone" shaking. Zero gazed out of the hole Bass, Treble and Wily left out of and grinned again before looking at one of the computers.

Dr Light and Duo were talking in the basement about why Duo had come back. "I sensed that something extremely malicious has been created by someone on this world. I had to come back, because this thing is even worse than the evil energy I hunt." Dr. Light nodded gravely and said, "Wait a moment. I guess I should show everyone what I'm about to show you." Dr. Light walked up the stairs and opened the door to the living room, which held Rock, Roll, Duo, Eddie, Rush, and Protoman, who had recently arrived with Tango.
"Hello, Protoman. It's good to see you." Dr. Light said, smiling at the robot with the yellow scarf. "Hi, doc. Nice to see ya too." Protoman replied, holding up a hand in a greeting gesture. Dr. Light sighed, then his face took on a rather morose appearance. "If everyone would please come with me, I have something to show you all." He walked back into the basement, now followed by all of the robots that were in the living room.
They reached the basement and Dr. Light immediately touched the top of what looked like a barrel containing very important chips, that, if exposed to oxygen, would immediately degrade. Much to the robots combined surprise, he pressed the release button on the keypad controlling the clamp. Only, instead of opening the container, it opened the wall, revealing a long corridor leading to another door. As soon as they walked inside the wall closed again. They reached the door on the other side of the corridor and Dr. Light quickly punched in a keycode, followed by a retinal scan and DNA scan. The computer said, "Hello Dr. Light. You may enter when ready.
Dr. Light walked over to the nearby clean suit (a suit that has absolutely no bacteria whatsoever on it and encloses the user in a safe place when dealing with delicate viruses). Once he was in, Dr. Light pressed a button on his suit. Immediately the room was robbed of all oxygen. The robots looked over at Dr. Light with concern, but saw that his suit was hooked up to a tube which fed the suit oxygen.
The door opened and they walked into a room with consoles on all the walls, displaying various statistics about the robotic capsule in the center of the room. Rock looked at the tube and almost shut down from the surprise of what he saw. Rock was looking at himself in the tube. The one in the tube, though, was older and somehow radiated a sense of goodness. Rock looked over at the console nearest to the capsule.
He read the system specifications, then a warning written by Dr. Light. Rock looked over at Dr. Light, obviously hurt at what he was seeing. "I am sorry, Rock, but I am a robotologist. I am always striving to make the perfect robot." Rock looked hurt, but his face cleared and he smiled. "I guess I understand." "Well, then. This robot is named Megaman X. He is the first to have the ability to think for himself, and to chart out his own life. He is basically human, except he has robot components. His parts are some of the most advanced parts ever."
Everyone stared at the capsule in awe. Roll said, "Then why is he still in here?" Before Dr. Light could think to answer, Rock said, "He's in there because he could become bad if brought out immediately." Dr. Light smiled at his robotic son and said, "Yes, that is correct. If not frozen for twenty years, then he runs the possibility of harming humans. He must stay in there, so the computer can test him until he is ready to be brought to life." With that, Dr. Light signaled that it was time to leave, and they all stepped out of the room. Before the room closed, Roll looked back inside at her sleeping brother. "Sleep well, my brother."
