Satsuki walks into the house really mad.

Dad: Girls! I'm home. Mei? Where's Mei?

Satsuki: *sounding disappointed* She's outside.

Dad: What's wrong?

Satsuki: People are taking down Totoro's home.

Dad: You mean those people..??...

Satsuki: They're taking down the Camphor Tree and a part of the forest.

Dad: Wow. That's terrible!

Satsuki: WHY WOULD THEY HARM TOTORO'S HOME?!!!!?

Dad: Umm…Satsuki.. you're almost 9, and Ithink it's about time I tell you this. When people grow older, they leave things like Totoro behind.

Satsuki: BUT WHY?!!?

Dad: Some say they feel when they're older, the magic just disappears. Then, they don't believe and try to forget they existed.

Satsuki: *near tears* But where will Totoro go?!!?

Dad: I don't know. But, I told you, the reason I moved here was because of the Camphor Tree and the woods.

Satsuki: So what should I do?!!? IS HE REAL OR NOT?!!?

Dad: Let me just say he's only real if you believe he's real. *leaves*

Mei: *running in* SATSUKI!!!

Satsuki: What?

Mei: What did Daddy say to you?

Satsuki: *thinking* I don't think I should tell her Dad's speech. She won't understand. She's also a little too young.

Mei: What did he say?!?

Satsuki: Uhhh…he.. told.. me.. about.. WHAT HAPPENED TODAY!

Mei:…….. Hey! *runs to the back yard*

Later that night………………………… ………

Satsuki was laying in bed, thinking about what dad said.

Satsuki: *thinking* What should I do ? My friends will think I'm weird if I believed in Totoro.

Satsuki walks outside. She stood on her knees. Then, she stared at Totoro's tree. She watched it for countless minutes. Then, Satsuki burst into tears.

BONK!

She was hit in the head by a rock.

Satsuki: Uhh.. wha..??

She looked to find it was daytime.

Satsuki: That bed I have is really something.*looks down* HUH?!!?

She found out she was sleeping on Totoro all night.

Satsuki: How did I get here?

Totoro opened his eyes and smiled.

Satsuki: *hugs him* Totoro, I'll always believe in you.

Satsuki came down and walked out of the woods.

When she got home, Satsuki saw her dad.

Dad: Satsuki!! Where were you?

Satsuki: *lying* Uh.. I woke up in the woods. I don't know how I got there. So, I had to find my way home.

Dad: Okay, but I have to write you a late note for school.

Satsuki: What?

Dad: It's noon.

Satsuki: WHAT?!!!?

Dad wrote her a note. Then Satsuki ran to school.

She finally made it.

Teacher: Satsuki! You're late!

Satsuki: I'm sorry m'am. I have a note.

Satsuki's teacher read the note.

Teacher: Ok. You're excused.

Then Satsuki went to her seat, a little embarrassed when the kids watched her.
