[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Hey all! I just HAD to write this down before I forgot about it! I know I know, I should finish my other fic before starting up on this one, but I REALLY REEEEEALLY wanted to write it! Besides, This fic may not be as updated as much as my other one, but I'll try!

~

Yusuke was standing on weak legs. Brown eyes slide over his fallen teammates. Kurama, Kuwabara, and Hiei all were laying face down in the dirt, trying vainly to stand back up.

He rubbed the side of his face and spat some blood on the dry earth. Now wasn't the time to get distracted. He looked downward, and back up to the person in front of him.
He was tall and ugly. Basically ugly. Flatly ugly. Stupid ugly. But he was strong. They had fought and worn him out, but it wasn't enough.

They got their asses kicked in and out.

He tried to stand forward, his legs jerking out from under him, sending him crashing to the floor. “Kuso…”

The man smiled wickedly. Raising his thick sword high above his head, Yusuke winced, Out of all the ways to die; it had to be in a way like this, Yusuke-shies-ka-bob. The sword flashed in the sun, swinging towards Yusuke to slice him in half with one sweep.

Before it even got close to him however, a long vine wrapped around his arm and a black blur rammed the man in the gut, sending them sprawling on the caked earth.
“Hiei! Kurama!” Yusuke shouted hoarsely, he managed a weak smile; So they were alive and ok. For now.

That was good…

A long trickle of blood that blended in with his flaming hair dripped down and over one fierce emerald eye. He regarded his fallen comrade in his usual quiet tone “Are you doing `Ok' Yusuke?”
The chocolate eyed teenager blinked and nodded, trying to stand up again.
“Stay still” an alto voice muttered, emerging next to the fallen form he not-so-nicely ran into. “You aren't in any condition to fight.”
“Shrimp…”
“Besides,” He continued, “He's dead anyway” He waved a tattooed arm towards the sword erected from the bad dude's gut. “You were a nice distraction.”

Yusuke felt a stressmark on his temple at being called a `distraction', “You're welcome shrimp, someone had to do it and they wouldn't have been able to see you unless you stood on a chair!”
Hiei remained silent as though he didn't hear the remark concerning his size, looking closely however; you could see his eyebrow begin to tick in irritation. “Whatever, get kuwabara's body so we can drag him back.”
Stifling a chuckle, Kurama nodded, “Yes, he needs the most medical attention, its life threatening at this point.”

Yusuke nodded and stood up, turning his back and turning to his friend. Just as he was bending down, he heard a loud *snap* and a surge of demonic energy. He swiveled his head back just in time to see Hiei fall forward with his ruby eyes squinted in pain, a miniature hole in his chest, made by a thin sword.
“Hiei!”
Kurama was down next, with a loud crunch, Yusuke heard several ribs break. “Oy Fox!”

Yusuke scrambled to his feet, hand posed to beat some ass down into the ground, brown eyes widening as they saw who the threat was.

The enemy they thought was dead rose up, Hiei's katana in his hand dripping with his and its owners blood. A smirk on his face and crimson liquid dripping down his leg where he hit Kurama. Yusuke's eyes were wider then they've been in a while, Though fighting, this guy wasn't alive. He took a tentative step backward.

A walking corpse.

Yusuke gave a wiry smile. “Well, I guess I can relate to the walking dead.”

One of Yusuke's eyes were swollen over, he had a fine line of blood oozing from a small cut next to his eyebrow, and he had a bruise on his cheek. However, he smirked and narrowed his useable eye.

Yusuke Urameshi: Ex- Spirit Detective, Last of the Mazuco, High school student, and street-fighter extraordinaire. He had a knack of pulling through in the end. His good luck never seemed to fail whenever he got himself plunged into deep dookie. In other people's senses, he was a walking corpse. He had been brought back from death more then two times already, many people believed he was living on borrowed time, maybe he was, and he didn't really care since he was going to die eventually anyway.

So he charged the last bit of his energy into his fist, and crossed his fingers for luck.

He ran towards the guy, fist clenched. With one cocky smirk, he yelled, “Bring it on bitch!!!!!!”

Black

More Black

Too much black

It was everywhere

And Yusuke frankly didn't like it.

He knew he was floating, floating in the darkness around him. It was pressing down on him at all sides, chocking him, suffocating him.

He knew he was dieing, the darkness said it to him, and it taunted him. It sang its unholy song in his ears, each note dripping with sadistic glee of stealing his life.

It was REALLY beginning to tick him off, he clenched his fist, getting ready to punch the blackness and get out of the dark, into the light. He glared, he was ready to die until the dark began taunting him. Now there was NO way it was getting rid of him yet.

Not yet.

His arms felt like lead, eyelashes were glued shut with a thin layer of dirt, and he felt like crap.

Since he could feel this, entirely he could merely assume he was alive.
He sat up; muscles cramped and flexed his shoulder aching and sore. Ruby eyes glinted through narrow slits; the sun was glaring down at him through spider webbed tree branches. He breathed out, and stood up. The air around him was heavy, but clean. It wasn't like Makai, and it wasn't like Ningenkai.

He stood up and rubbed he eyes, searching for his comrades. The fox, detective, and baka weren't anywhere near him, but he could faintly feel their energy signatures far away.

At least they were alive.

When he took a few steps forward a strong pain from his abdominal area made him gasp in pain. He looked down and grimaced, a large wound was there, made probably by his katana.

He did a quick check over, His shoulder was badly bruised from where he rammed into that 8ft monster. It had been like trying to run into a reinforced wall plated by steel and diamond. His wound inflicted by the sword was deep and it hurt like a bitch, but it wasn't life threatening yet. The Fibula in his left leg was fractured, and he guessed he probably had some broken ribs. He gritted his teeth, if he was attacked now, he could do little to protect himself.

Crimson eyes flicked over his surroundings, catching sight of a red sign embellished with the kanji of `fire'. A good place to check out, maybe get the provisions he needed.

Then he'd find the idiots.

~

Hiei walked through the gates of the Fire city, senses stretched as far as they could go, prepared for any encounter with an enemy.

However, as he walked by houses, when he caught the presence of a being behind the door, they didn't emerge. He felt their eyes pressed hard on him. A dreary silence hung about him. He looked directly at a window and glared where a girl had been staring at him. In fear?

It was unnerving, it was creepy, and above all else, it was annoying.

The sun was setting, and the shadows were long, night was falling, and Hiei was still walking. Just as he was entering the center of the village, he felt eight presences closing in on him on all sides. His almond eyes narrowed to slits. They were hostile. And they were directed towards him.

A flash of energy next to him almost made him jump in surprise. Something was coming across the floor, taking a closer look; he saw it was a shadow. Alarmed, he jumped up, being careful of his fractured leg and glaring.

The eight figures emerged from the shadows, all wearing masks of some sort, unnervingly. The shadow returned to one of them.
“He dodged it.” He said turning to a person with a dog..
“I noticed” The dog guy replied, then turning towards Hiei, he pulled up his mask, showing triangular marks on his cheeks and brown eyes. His eyes were narrowed to a glare. “Hey Stranger.”

Hiei stared coldly up at the guy. He made no notice of the name, but quickly evaluated his situation. 8 humans, dangerous and powerful, but he'd probably be able to get rid of them.

He reached downward to where the hilt of his sword was, and then cursed when he realized that monster had it. So instead he assumed an offensive position and curled his hands into fists.

He knew he was fighting humans, he couldn't kill them no matter how much he wished to.
“If you wish to fight me, you will die.”

So much for following the rules.

He bent his knees and shifted his feet. Before any of them could blink, the first man was down, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.

The man snapped his mask back over his face, while the man next to him sent his shadow back after Hiei. He jumped backward, landing smoothly out of the shadow's way and behind another solider. He quickly disposed of the man, jumping again. `Two down Six to go' He thought in his mind, doing a flip and landing on the ground in a crouch. When he looked up, his eyes widened. Weapons he recognized as Shrunken an Kunai went hurling at him.

Knowing he didn't have enough time to dodge, he raised his hand up and sent a jet of fire, melting the weapons successfully.

For some odd reason this seemed to freak them out even more.

“He didn't use hand seals!” The man with the dog mask barked in alarm.

Hiei flinted behind him and made a sharp jab to his neck, stopping mere centimeters from it.
Ruby eyes wide with alarm.

He couldn't move.

He felt something force his head down. With some annoyance, he noticed the shadow he had been eluding had snuck up behind him and seemed to have bound him.

“What….What is this….?” He ground out, trying to move, or even twitch a finger.

“It's My `Me and My shadow' Jutsu Sasuke,” The figure he had forgotten about spoke with a drawl. “Ah, how bothersome, coming back and stirring up all sorts of trouble.”

Hiei muttered something incoherent under his breath and glared at him. Well, he was in a fine mess now.

~

Yusuke groaned and sat up, knocking heads with someone bent in front of him. He fell backward with a thump and moaned in pain.
He blinked blearily at a pair of large green eyes that were now squinted and watering in pain about 3 ft away from him.
He sat up, and rubbed his head, “Sorry about that…” He mentally winced and made a note not to make any sudden movements for the next week and a half.

He jumped to his feet, wobbling then falling backwards again. Apparently, he had forgotten about his mental note he made less then 30 seconds ago.

This time he got up, slower then before to face the person in front of him.

She had green eyes and short pink hair. There was an odd air about her that smelt of things people twice her age should have seen. She seemed about 15 or 14, probably a year younger then himself. He made several quick notes about her, mainly her body shape and the fact that she was armed.

Great.

The girl stood up and looked at him, “Who are you?” She asked in a tone that meant, `tell me or die'.
“I'm sorry little girl, I'm not allowed to talk to strangers.” Yusuke replied in a tone that demanded that he should get his butt kicked.
Her eyebrow twitched.
“Tell ya what,” He continued, sensing that his life was in danger, “You answer a question and then I'll answer a question, fair enough?”
“Do I honestly need to answer that?”
“Nope, but I'll answer your question first” Yusuke replied with a grin, “The name's Yusuke Urameshi, who are you?”
“Sakura Haruno,” She answered with some hesitation, “What are you doing here in Konoha, are you a ninja from a neighboring country?”
Yusuke blinked, “Konoha? Ninja?”

He blinked again, and his eyes darted to the side, not seeing his friends anywhere, “OY! Hey!!!!!! What the?!” His head swiveled side to side, “Where's the asshole?!”

His blood went cold, What about Kuwabara?

Last time he saw him, he was on the verge of dying. Yusuke was living proof, that was not a fun thing to experience. Adrenaline was pouring through every pore on his body.
“We'll continue 20 questions later” He said to Sakura quickly before pivoting on his heel and bolting off in the opposite direction, “I gotta go!”
With some effort, he jumped onto a ledge and swung onto a roof, running across the tops.

Every now and then he would yell out a name of a companion. Hoping against hope they'd reply. He was aware of Sakura following him even though she had hidden her energy well.

Eventually, he had no other choice then to slow down or risk damaging his already damaged body. He laid his body flat against the tiled roof and stared at the sky blankly.
“Come on out Haruno” He called, turning his head to her hiding spot in a sleepy sort of way, He was BEYOND tired now since he was already running on empty.

The pink haired girl came out tentatively, and then with a little bit more confidence she looked at him with stern green eyes. “I'm going to have to ask you to come with me.”

Not feeling up to arguing, Yusuke shrugged, “I didn't know you moved that fast, but OK, fine by me”
This resulted in him getting a mild concussion.

~

When Yusuke woke up from his comatose state he was almost instantly aware of a pair of eyes watching him. Turning, he was met with a red eyed glare. One that he recognized.
“Hiei!”
The other boy nodded and `hned' clearly not in the mood for words, after all they were both locked in reinforced steel cells.
Ignoring the obvious signs of irritation from the fire demon, (A/n: Someone remind me of this song `End of all hope', by Nightwish, thx) Yusuke bombarded him with questions until the patience and cold demeanor Hiei is known for was threatening to crack.

“If you don't mind” A voice cut in smoothly, “I'd like to ask you some of those same questions.”

Both demons' heads turned and saw a tall woman come in, golden eyes gleaming and a cocky smile on her face.

“Hello boys, welcome to hell.”
