Chapter 4: A problem

“Hyah!”
Ishizu struck into the stump with her fingers once again, digging bits of bark out from her stationary target. The chakra flowed through her fingers, dulling the pain that came with the training.
A kick, 2 strikes with her palms…Ishizu slowed, feeling the exertion of her exercises beginning to catch up with her. Her breath came out hard and fast while her fingers were red and swollen. Her head ached from the continuous use of her Byakuugan.
She leaned against the log, turning off her family gift. It hurt, and was not usually used for such long periods of time. She wiped the sweat from her forehead, smiling at the futility of such an action. The sweat continued to pour down her body, warm yet sticky. She wrapped her fingers in some protective bandaging after applying some healing salve to the swollen extremities. Then she headed inside to bathe.

Ishizu hummed to herself as she toweled herself off. She walked out of the furrow, one towel around her hair and the other around her body. While it didn't matter to any Hyuga, anyone able to see her through the window would obviously have to be spared a closer look. Ishizu smirked, blushing and thinking of her new reputation around town…'perverted Hyuga'. She was actually surprised that no action had been taken by the Main House.
Getting dressed once again, Ishizu glided down the stairs, heading towards the kitchen table. She sat down quickly, keeping her head bowed and her hands in her lap. Neji was already eating, and Hanabi rose from the table to fetch Ishizu's food. Ishizu smiled, thanking her mother, but noticed that the atmosphere in the house had been very cold for the past few weeks. She was glad to get missions, any missions, just for the sake of getting out of the house.
Neji finished eating. Hanabi took his bowl and chopsticks, putting them quickly in the sink before finishing her own food. Ishizu kept her head aimed downwards as she ate. Neji hadn't moved from the table, and that was a bad sign. He turned his head towards Ishizu.
“Your Hitate seems a bit bulky.” He stated flatly. “New hairstyle?”
Ishizu winced, not letting her eyes widen as they wished. Any such action would be nearly suicidal, as Neji had told her to burn the sash. Keeping it was directly disobeying him, and that wasn't smart.
“Y…y-yes, Hyuga-sama. It helps p-protect against the s-sun.”
He sniffed, shaking his head. Rising from the table with a scowl on his lips, Neji stalked into the living room and sat in his favorite chair. Ishizu allowed herself to breathe once again. Hanabi did too.
“You know…” Hanabi whispered. “I think he's in a bad mood. It might be best to take that out of your-“
Ishizu stood straight up, grabbing her dishes from the table. “I-I don't know what you m-mean!” she almost shouted. “B-but thank you for b-breakfast!”
Ishizu dumped her bowl and utensils in the sink, bowing quickly and rushing out the door.

“Oh no, oh no, oh no”…she repeated quickly as she walked down the street. What am I going to do? If Hanabi-sama sees it, then…what if…has Neji-sama…
Ishizu felt very sick. She knew she needed to talk to someone, and quickly. Otherwise she would look very strange, stuttering to herself and walking down the street.
Ishizu took off towards the front of the school, where her cell (cell 7) always met when they had missions. Maybe Kikyinn would be there. If not, well…Yamaki would do, I guess, Ishizu thought to herself. Hey, I would even take Kakashi-sensei right now.
A child's scream broke through the air. Ishizu snapped her head to the left, already knowing full well that she couldn't see the problem yet. She took off towards the sound.
Getting closer, she could hear the child screaming a name; “Jiabi! Jiabi! Oh, somebody help!”
The child came into view. A young girl stood at the side of a river, screaming and staring into the water. A small puppy floundered in the flow, yapping and trying desperately to keep its head above water. Ishizu ran to the girl's side. “It's ok!” she said quickly. “I'm a ninja, I'll get it!”
She removed her coat, preparing to dive in. But she stopped when a sudden burst of sand on the opposite bank revealed the location of…Assatsu Gaara? Ishizu couldn't help but stare. Why was he here?
As if in answer, sand began to flow from the container on his back. It rushed into the stream, encasing the dog in the thick layer known as the desert coffin. The dog yelped, seeming glad to be free of the stream but afraid of its current situation. Ishizu sighed. Assatsu wasn't nearly as bad as everyone thought. He was-
He was…
He was holding his hand outstretched towards the dog, integrating the sands movements with the movements of his fingers. His fingers curled just the slightest bit, and the dog let out a small yip. It struggled against the sand, but to no avail. Assatsu grinned horribly, chuckling a bit to himself.
“No! Assatsu-san!” Ishizu found herself screaming. Then her hands clapped across her mouth, her eyes wide and her chest heaving. She couldn't believe she had just done that. If the Main House wasn't going to kill her, she wanted to live. And yelling at Assatsu Gaara was a good way to die.
His head snapped around, fixing her with one of his trademark glares. She shuddered, unable to tear her gaze away from his. It seemed a true shame that someone with such a handsome face, such deep eyes could be so cold and heartless. She found herself blushing once again. His finger twitched, causing the dog to let out another yelp.
“P…please, Assatsu…s-san…” she gulped, falling to her knees. “D…d-don't…p-p-please…”
The sand wrapped about his feet, lifting him and carrying across the torrent. He landed in front of her, dog floating in the middle of the river. He wrapped his hand around her chin, pulling her face up to look at his. He stared deep into her eyes, chilling her to the bone.
“Do you even realize…who you're talking you?” he mouthed slowly.
Ishizu gulped nodding. She felt incredibly helpless.
“You realize…I am Assatsu Gaara?” She nodded. “That I would have no problems with killing you, this dog and this child right now?” A slow nod. “And still you would speak to me?” A faltering nod.
He chuckled, shaking his head. “You're so stupid. I should kill you.” The sand wrapped about her legs, giving them a quick squeeze. She gasped with pain, but continued to stare into his eyes. She couldn't bring herself to look away.
His upper lip twitched. “I…should kill you.” His hand rose towards her, fingers outstretched. She cringed the best she could with only half her body. His shoulders hunched, and a snarl broke out upon his lips.
“But…why…can't I…?” he muttered. His left hand whipped forward, carrying the dog to the bank. The animal was deposited on the ground, panting and dashing to its master, who squealed with joy and giggled happily. “Thank you, mister Gaara!” she called, waving to him with one hand. It probably looked quite humorous, but it didn't feel that way. Assatsu held his right arm in front of him, while Ishizu knelt on the ground before him with her legs wrapped in rock-hard sand.
Finally, he lowered his arm. The sand removed itself from her, flowing back into his container. He turned his back to Ishizu, baring his teeth. “I…I want to…to kill you.” He muttered. “Why…can't I kill you? You're nothing special…”
He moved his hands together and disappeared in a small swirl of sand. Ishizu breathed a sigh of relief, wiping a trickle of sweat from her brow. She turned to the child, who smiled happily and waved again.
“If you see Mr. Gaara again, tell him Obis said thank you again!” called the child, who ran off with her dog. Ishizu smiled before turning once again towards the school.

Ishizu came within viewing range of the school, smiling all the way. Kikyinn sat chucking rocks at Yamaki, who chuckled as he attempted to dodge them. The occasional rock caught him in the leg or arm, but he took it in good nature. Ishizu waved. “Hello, Yamaki-san! Hello, Kikyinn-san!”
Yamaki waved without looking, focused on avoiding the rock aimed at his head. Kikyinn threw another rock at Yamaki before landing, and walking over to Ishizu. “Hey, good timing, Ishizu!” she said, smiling broadly. “We got a message from Kakashi-sensei about an hour ago, saying we were to meet here for a mission briefing. We figured you'd be here on time, like usual.”
Ishizu smiled. “I, um, d-didn't get the message.” She said. “I must have left a b-bit early.”
Kikyinn looked at her. “Hey, are you alright? You're trembling, and your legs are all sweaty.” Kikyinn eyed her suspiciously. “What have you been doing all morning, anyways?” She grinned, poking Ishizu in the ribs. “Are the rumors true?”
“B-b…w…n, um…w-what r-rumors?! No. No, no!” Ishizu yelped. Even Kikyinn considered her a pervert!
Kikyinn held up her hands. “Hey, don't worry about it. A lot of people peep, it's just easier for you.”
Ishizu stood stiff as a board, her jaw moving up and down. She felt kind of angry, and her cheeks went red. “I-I'll have you know, I…I-“
A loud bang was accompanied by a puff of smoke. Unprepared, Ishizu jumped with a YEEK, clasping her hands to her breast to make sure her heart still worked. Kakashi-sensei stepped out of the cloud. “Sorry I'm late,” he said, “I delivered a baby.”
Slow applause sounded from the three Genin. “And the prize for lamest excuse goes to…” said Yamaki. Kakashi rubbed the back of his head. “Nobody ever believes me…” he muttered.
Kakashi pulled out a scroll from his back pocket. “Today's mission is…” he drawled. “…stopping poachers from killing the rabbits around Konoahagakure.”

* * *

The poachers were easy to find. They weren't ninja, just people, and their ability to cover their tracks was…slightly lacking. Kakashi-sensei stepped in front of them, a bored expression on his face. The Genin landed behind him.
“So…just what are you doing?” Kakashi asked, a kunai held loosely in his off hand. “You do know there are laws against poaching in Konoahagakure, don't you?”
The men dropped their equipment, shaking and stuttering. The garbled out some random words, words like…”We, we….uh, oh no, we were….we…hired, distract…attack…um…Gaaaah!”
The men turned, running off into the forest. Kakashi sighed, turning towards the Genin. “Well,” he said, “this is bad.” The three stared at their sensei. “What's the problem?” said Kikyinn, “I could get them all right now with my weapons.”
Ishizu squinted. It wasn't the poachers sensei was worried about. It was…
She turned her head rapidly, moving her blind spot to a new area and revealing the 6 ninja standing behind the group. “Behind us!” she screamed. The other two spun on their heels, pulling out their respective weapons.
“Heh. So you're the one…” one of them sneered. “We've been waiting.”
“We're here for the girl.” Said another, stepping forward with an arrogant swagger. “You are no threat to us, Copycat Kakashi. Take the white-eyes and the puppeteer and go, while you still can.”
Kakashi put his hand on Kikyinn's shoulder. “I really don't think so.” He stated plainly. He reached up towards his left eye, where his Hitate rested, and pulled the headband up onto his forehead. Ishizu turned on her Byakuugan quickly, activating the specialty of her family and watching the Chakra flow of everyone around her. She couldn't help but smile as she saw Kankouro's chakra sitting inside of the wrappings on his back, and the puppet walking around in Kankouro's place. Kikyinn stayed next to Kakashi, and Kakashi's Chakra flowed in that peculiar way about his left eye. The ninja's pulled out various weapons.
Then the fight began. 4 ninjas ran towards Kakashi and Kikyinn, baring their weapons while Kakashi performed several seals. One rushed towards Kankouro and his puppet, throwing two kunai into the puppets chest. Kankouro's strings dropped the puppet to it's knees in an imitation of death, making it holds its throat and chest before falling to the dirt face-first. Ishizu grinned, running towards the ninja that attacked her. She whipped out kunai, throwing them towards the ninjas legs. If she was correct, this would cause him to…
He jumped, and she dropped her head. Perfect.
She ran underneath his falling body, gathering the Chakra to her hands. And as he came down with his foot aimed for her head, she twisted her body and thrust her fingers into his palm. She watched as the Chakra quickly stopped flowing through the mans wrist, his hand going limp. He growled in pain, then whipped his leg towards her head. Ducking instinctively, she watched as he attempted to launch another surprise kick. She shot her head backwards, avoiding his kick and thrusting her fist into his solar plexus. He crumpled over, groaning and holding his stomach with his working hand.
He stared towards her. “E…excellent…” he gasped. He turned his head towards the 4 ninjas keeping Kakashi occupied. “Now!”
2 of the ninjas broke away from Kakashi and Kikyinn, running past the ninja that was now helpless under Yamaki's controlling strings. The pulled out long lengths of cord, twirling them around like whips. They flicked their wrists, wrapping the cords about Ishizu's body. One ninja grabbed her bodily about the waist, and the two took off towards the woods.
Ishizu wriggled in their grasp. “Kakashi-sensei, help!” she called, squirming against the larger mans powerful grasp. Kakashi looked towards her and cursed lightly. He took off after the escaping ninjas, but his opponents performed several seals and created a wall of earth. He turned back to them, throwing Kunai and performing seals.
Ishizu felt very frightened. She could no longer see anyone from her cell, just the nin carrying her and the nin beside him. She continued to struggle, attempting to untie her fingers from the cord and seal off the mans shoulder. But the cord was just too tight, and it effectively prevented her from doing anything but squirming.
The two ninjas stopped, dumping her unceremoniously on the ground. She let out a small grunt, gritting her teeth. “We got her!” the carrier nin said. “You were right! The copycat nin fell for it!”
“Well, of course.” Said a very soft voice from behind. Ishizu couldn't see anyone, whether that was because of her blind spot or her lack of vision range she couldn't tell. “I'm always right.”
The two ninjas shuddered, turning towards the voice. A tall, thin man walked into view, his long hair falling easily around his shoulders. He wore a long Kimono, and two long Katana were strapped at his belt. His Chakra was not the ordinary blue; it was mostly green, with a bluish tint. Ishizu's head started to ache, and she turned off the Byakuugan.
The newcomer walked over to Ishizu, kneeling down in front of her. “Well, well.” He said pleasantly, a kindly smile on his lips. “I finally have the Byakuugan. This is wonderful.”
Ishizu stared at him, keeping her mouth shut. Until she could figure out a way out of this, she wasn't going to say anything.
The man stood up, still smiling. He nodded to the bigger nin, then turned his head to Ishizu. “We're going to my house, Hyuga girl. Perhaps you will tell me your name there, hm?” He chuckled softly to himself, and the bigger nin put his hands together in the focus of Genjutsu. Ishizu began to feel very sleepy, and found herself drifting off into unconsciousness…

Heh. Cliffhanger. I truly am loving this. Being based off my game, I am rewriting the story to be a little less action-oriented and a little more romance interested. The real game has had a lot more fighting up to this point, but this is a romance story, right? Thus, I rewrite.
And love it.
Tee-hee!!!
Lol.
Yay.
W00t.
Ok I'm done now.
