I do not own Naruto

The previous part I had to stop at a little early because I was starting to cry…long story don't ask. But now I hope to finish it this time…

Chapter 18

Standing there and watching his son, from the distant shadows, he watches as his son, pulls a leg up to rest his chin on it. Closing his eyes, his clear voice startles Arashi…

“You can come out now…I know you're there.”

Sheepish and somewhat embarrassed, the older man approaches tentatively. He does not want to blow any chance he has with this young man. “Do you mid if I sit down?”

Naruto shakes his head in response to that question. “It's a free village.”

Wincing a little bit at the somewhat callous remark, Arashi still sits down. His own eyes observing the view, alongside his son, there is nothing but silence and an unbreakable tension. Finally as if in frustration or maybe just wonder…Naruto finally speaks.

“Why?”

“Why you?” Arashi asked sadly.

“Yes…I can understand the reasons and everything. I just…why me? Why your own son?”

“Could you ask anyone else to give up their child?” Arashi said quietly. “And if so could you picture any of your friends in your position and still come out sane?”

Thinking about his words, Naruto focuses on each of them in particular. He shakes his head moments later. “No…they wouldn't. You believed in me that much though?” Naruto asked with a questioning tone, his eyes turning to Arashi. “When I was just a baby?”

“Yeah I did kiddo…” Arashi smiled gently. “Your mother said you would be and whatever she said always came true.”

“Who was she?” The young man asks. “Who was my mother?”

Arashi looks towards the town with a warm and gentle smile. “Her name was Yukita Tenjo…she was sweet, kind quite beautiful. Hair that was like fire and eyes that could warm your soul. She believed in people, believed that no one was truly evil, just lost…”

Smiling as he can see her in his minds eye, Arashi becomes saddened as her loss shits home.

“You must have loved her very much…” Naruto whispers. “Did…did she die because of me?”

“No…she died because of me…” Arashi sadly responds. “I had many enemies Naruto…and after she had given birth, one of them…”

“I see.”

Saddened now, the tension between the two comes back in full force. Silent once again between Father and son, Naruto feels nervous and anxious at Arashi's presence. “You know I mastered the Rasengan in a week…”

Eyebrows raised at this remark, Arashi looks at Naruto curiously. “Really?” The elder blonde asks. “Show me.”

Always eager to show people what he can do, Naruto leaps up as does Arashi. Both heading towards some nearby training grounds, the youth summons a clone and starts working on it. In mere moments Arashi smiles, as his son shows a perfectly formed Rasengan.

“I'm impressed. It took me three years to figure out how to do that.” The elder man stated warmly, his compliments noticed by the youth, causes him to beam with pride as Naruto seems to get flustered once more. “What else can you do?”

Happily listing off a bunch of techniques and then demonstrating each one, Arashi smiled and watched. His son was happy.

His son…

Reaching out as Naruto chatters on about something, Arashi startles the youth by taking him into his arms. Not ready at all for this kind of affection, the Fox child struggles against his embrace. But unlike before, where he would have let go. Arashi finds he can not.

He just holds him even tighter. Tears running down his cheeks, they fall against Naruto's own causing the boy to stop in surprise.

“Why?” Naruto whispers.

“Because I have my son back…I have my son!”

Pushing him away halfheartedly a few minutes later, Naruto looks up at Arashi with a mixture of emotions.

“I…I don't know if I can call you father just yet…” The youth stated quietly. Noticing the hurt in Arashi's eyes, Naruto walks away from the other man his stance weakening a little bit. But determined to not give in…he had just met the man and he was still confused…

Lost…that hug had unnerved him. Never before had that much emotion been directed at him in his entire life…it was unexpected.

Still the pain in Arashi's eyes had gotten to him…

“Just give me some time… I…I need to get used to it.”

Arashi nods his head. “All right…” His hurt still there, but lessened somewhat, he agrees, to his son's decision. Watching Naruto walk away, he smiles with hope.
