I do not own Naruto
Rasengan86…Thank you, that is the one thing I am taking pride in. I try to be realistic somewhat despite the situation no matter what fiction I write for. The thing is I can kind of somewhat empathize with Naruto…lets just leave it at that….
Chapter 25
Approaching the door and knocking on it, Kakashi almost dances on his feet as he waits. His mind thoughtful on how he's going to talk, the copy ninja notices as the door creaks open…and then slams shut again.
“Hmmm…he had to have been watching…” The silvery gray haired man mused. “He's going to be difficult then…should be interesting.”
Making a Shadow clone to take his place as he silently teleports away, Kakashi knows his student pretty well in the fact that when he gets moody. He's more or less focused on avoiding the issue rather then the actual problem.
Watching the windows from the side to see Naruto pacing, he observes as the youth disappears momentarily for a moment, as his clone knocks again and waits. Repeating the action a few more times, the youth finally gets frustrated enough, as stomps towards his door, giving Kakashi the excuse to slide in from behind.
“What in the world...a CLONE!” Naruto yells as he whirls around to find his teacher and teammate relaxed don his couch.
“Yo!”
“GET OUT!”
“Nope, no can do…” The silvery haired jounin murmurs as he gets his book out of his pocket.
“Kakashi-sensei…” The youth growls out, his eyes expressive and in pain, Kakashi continues to read the book. But his body is alert; he may have to literally wrestle Naruto down to the ground before he is willing to talk. Which means… he might have to stay out of Tsunade and Sakura's sight, if Naruto's arm gets hurt even worse. “I said GET OUT!”
Ignoring the youth on purpose, Kakashi hears the growling sound of aggravation. Trusting in his belief that Naruto would not call the fox demon's chakra, when he feels the youth reach for his arm to literally, yank him out. Kakashi deftly flips him over onto his back upon the cushions.
Counting on that wince of pain to help him think twice, Kakashi is prepared though as Naruto despite his arm, leaps at him in anger. Catching the youth and whirling him around, so that his back is to his chest, Kakashi firmly grabs hold around the youth's arms and waist.
Tightly holding on to him, as he struggles, it goes on and on for a good hour, before Naruto exhausts himself and slumps against him.
“Why couldn't he just stay out of it…?”
Setting Naruto free gently and onto his knees, Kakashi walks around to the side of his student and teammate, to find tears coursing down his cheeks. Now is not the time for talking…but for listening.
“Why couldn't my father just stay out of my life? I got used to being on my own…I got used to having no family, no one really close to really turn to, but my friends. SO WHY COULDN'T HE JUST STAY OUT OF IT!”
Watching as the youth pounds at the floor with his free hand, not caring about the pain his other arm is enduring. Kakashi waits silently for the pain and the rage to stop. His heart breaking for the young man, the ninja understands him a little better now.
Naruto had been suffering a long time in his loneliness. But ever since he had been placed with Sakura and Sasuke under his teaching, the youth despite his brash loudness, has been opening up.
It would explain that quiet grief, which Naruto had in the hospital after Sasuke had left. He remembers Jiriaya telling him when he brought Naruto back, that he had considered the Uchiha the first meaningful bond he had ever made. The fact that Sasuke had tried to break it, by attempting to kill him had hurt Naruto deeply.
Naruto was afraid of making a bond with his father, a bond such as one that he had with Sasuke.
Allowing the boy to sob away his pain, he bides his time. Shortly as they begin to subside, Kakashi turns Naruto's chin towards him. “He just wants to be with you Naruto…”
“But why Kakashi-sensei…why now?”
“Why not? You are his son and he loves you.”
“Love me? He doesn't love me…hell he hardly knows me.” The youth muttered as he struggled to get up off the floor. His knees are some what weak from his exertions. Kakashi stands up to give him a hand, which although he does not want to…he takes.
“Then let him get to know you…”
“I don't want him to!”
Sighing as the youth goes to his kitchen to get himself a drink of water, Kakashi looks the youth over. Although the pain and the rage is still there, he also sees something else.
Confusion…
“What do you want then Naruto?” Kakashi murmurs quietly. “A part of you wouldn't be agonizing over him being here now, if that part didn't want to have him in your life.”
“But I don't!” The blonde protested his hand clenched around the plastic glass, to the point, that Kakashi is glad it was not made of actual glass.
“Then why are you not telling him that?” The Ninja said carefully. “If you truly don't want Arashi in your life Naruto, then tell him. Don't put him through this…”
“But I can't tell him…I don't want to hurt him…” The youth responded. “I just want him to get the hint…to leave me alone.”
“Then you have to tell him that Naruto…he's hurting right now because he thinks you hate him.”
“I don't hate him! Or at least I don't think I do…” The fox youth confusedly replies. “I'm…”
“Scared?”
Looking up at the ninja, who in a single word sums up the riotous emotions in his soul… There is anger and there is a pain, from his childhood. Kindness, friendship and love radiate from those memories of his dearest friends….
But when he thinks of the Fourth, the one who sealed the demon inside him, the one responsible for sealing the demon inside him, and most of all the one responsible for his existence…he feels confusion and fear.
“You are scared aren't you…?” Kakashi states gently. “Scared of Arashi doing to you what Sasuke did…betraying you for someone else.”
“He did for Konoha…. He already did it once by putting the fox demon inside me, why won't he do it again Kakashi-sensei. He will inadvertently find some other way to make my life a living hell.” Naruto replied in bitterness.
The emotional drain on the youth was visible now. Kakashi could see the hurt and the pain as those words were spoken. All though Naruto understands the reasons and everything as to why he was chosen as the vessel of the nine-tailed fox. The fact of the matter was is that Naruto felt betrayed when he learned his own father was the one who did it to him.
Approaching the youth with his arm outstretched, Kakashi decides it is time to leave Naruto alone with his thoughts. At this point the youth will be hard pressed to understand and to hear things from Arashi's point of view. Save for the statements he is about to make…
“Ask yourself this, you know he is your father…you now have someone who wants to honestly and truly be there for you in ways that your friends have not been able to fulfill Naruto. Are you really willing to give that up, because you are scared?”
Disappearing as he does the seals for a teleportation jutsu, Kakashi vanishes from the young man's apartment. Leaving a confused and lonely youth to think on what was said.
In the meantime he goes off in search of his friend and ex-sensei. To make sure that the other man in his grief has not done anything stupid….
