Chapter 42

Jealousy…such a strong word, for a petty emotion….

But it is an emotion that can rule countries, break hearts and destroy lives. Umiko thinks to herself as she watches Naruto stalk off in anger.

The three younger children, having left to do something else, train for their Chuunin exams. She observes as despite her own heart towards the other man that is Arashi, it was originally the youth's idea to help the three genin train by this. Even Ebisu, their weird sensei was duly impressed by the youth's inspiration to help out his three students.

Hopefully Naruto calms down by the time he returns…

That move could put a lot of the older blonde's hard work at gaining his son's affection back weeks. Having been at the hospital that one time, she realized that the relationship between the father and the son was tentative. One that was just beginning to form, unlike the one she has with her daughter.

Although she is supposed to be spying on the younger, she can not help but try to heal their broken family. Something that even the Godaime of Konoha had asked her to do…

Flashback…

“Please continue being there for them…” The older blonde woman asked softly. Her voice carrying down the hall towards Umiko, she is startled by this request. Having accepted the thank you from before, she is stunned as this leader asks for her aide. “You have done more with whatever you said, and then they themselves have been able to do in weeks.”

“Why is that…?” Umiko asked cautiously.

“Let's just say Naruto has had a hard life…and that for Arashi to show up couple of months ago was kind of hard to get used to, for him.” Tsunade replied. “He trusts to easily sometimes, and at times he does not trust at all. I am afraid for Naruto and Arashi…”

“I see what you are saying.” The red headed woman replied softly. “I shall try my best if that is what you wish.”

“Yes…I can not lose Naruto or his Father now…. They have become my family…”

Flashback ends…

Family…

Putting herself in Arashi's shoes, she cans till see that he does indeed love his son. But that he is still so new to being a Father. He has to realize that Naruto is not a child but a seventeen year old boy, who needs his acknowledgement more then anything.

Brushing her hand through the thick wig, Umiko sets about starting supper as she studies the youth outside. The anger and frustration is there…in every punch and every kick. He grows stronger which she must report in her statements to Kabuto. But she wishes it was not for the reason at the moment that is happening.

As she has gotten to know the youth, she has head of the stories of him along with the other one back in sound, Sasuke Uchiha. She is so tempted to confess her true purpose in being here. But still she dares not, for the sake of her daughter, despite her growing affection for the youth…and her desire for the father…

Lost in thought, she turns away for a moment, to reach for a knife to cut some vegetables. Returning, she smiles as it seems the Hyuuga heiress has arrived with her sister. Slowly starting to relax as the two girls chat with him, she watches as more and more as of late, the blond looking at the older Hyuuga with a shy and gentle smile.

Startled all of a sudden as she senses a mind scan, Umiko out of habit immediately places blocks in place. Her own mind jutsus taking over, the woman does not know that she may have given away her presence…

Hokage Tower…

Unaware that he may have made a dreadful mistake, Arashi is watching as Tsunade has the two strongest Yamanakas, Inoichi and his daughter Ino scan for different and or malevolent thoughts. Both could do it by themselves easily enough, but to not tax either one's chakra too much, the Godaime had insisted on them doing it together.

Anxious to speak of his idea concerning the Chuunin exams, Arashi watches as the two in their trance scan all of Konoha between them. Suddenly puzzled, Ino makes a sound of confusion from where she was.

“Have you found something daughter?” Iniochi asks curiously as he disengages. The older man was proud of his baby girl, who had not only improved her family's jutsus. But had gained incredible strength in it to nearly rival his own thanks to her tutelage under Tsunade-sama and Shizune-san…

“I think so Papa…” The young blonde woman remarked with a confused look upon her face. I was scanning the area around the Hokage monument, when a powerful block appeared…”

“Are you sure?”

Nodding her head, the Yamanaka looks to the Hokages for permission before he can proceed. Both Arashi and Tsunade nod their heads in response, he makes the jutsu once more and focuses on the area Ino had told him.

As with the daughter, he to found the block, and decided to see if he could push against it with his own mind power. Pressing hard against it, he can feel his chakra draining faster and harder then ever before. But still he persists…finally as he dislodges a brick, his stunned as he finds a pair of amber eyes glaring at him…

I am duly impressed, for you to have done that much… A woman's voice replied in his mind. Regretfully I can not allow you or any others to go further…

Before he could blink, Iniochi screams in not just his mindscape but in reality as pain rolls into his mind like a tidal wave. Such intense pain, that even Ino feels it as her mind falls under its spell.

Both of the Yamanakas are screaming in pain and as their eyes roll back in their head, they promptly pass out. Tsunade and Arashi race towards them to catch their bodies as they fall. The Godaime already running her healing spells over the elder of the two unconscious Ninja, Shizune comes rushing in and without another word starts work on Ino.

ANBU as well as other Ninjas rush in to report of other Yamanakas collapsing under intense pain. But as Tsunade looks up at them from her hard work on Iniochi, it is Arashi who gently places his young friend on the ground as he starts barking orders. Gesturing for them to take, each Yamanaka to the hospital, he orders all medics to make their healing a priority unless others are dying.

Racing around in a flurry of activity as he starts writing out seals of carious sorts on plain scrolls, the Fourth moves rapidly to attach a fresh one to each window in the office tower. When finished, the older man makes several had signs and within seconds each one flares with power. The seals sinking into the clear glass window pains, both Tsunade and Shizune notice the difference immediately as the painful pressure inside the minds of Ino and her father let up.

“What did you just do Arashi?”

“A temporary blocking seal…” The Fourth replied as he helped Shizune gather Ino and place her on a near by couch. “I can remove it later. But right now, we need to get Iniochi at least healed alongside Ino. I am sure that between the two of them they can make some kind of defense mechanism…”

Nodding her head in agreement, as Arashi's plan seems plausible; both women focus on their charges and getting them back on their feet. Sakura running in a few minutes later, is worried about her friend and her father, is told to lend her strength to both as best she can. Although different, she has been shown on how to heal two at the same time in tandem with others…

Taxing and harder then most other jutsus, it is only used as a last resort in cases such as this. Finding her chakra going in two different directions, she feels her sensei and sister of a sort happy to have it. Both women manipulating it, by the time Sakura is almost drained, she is lucky as Iniochi starts to come around alongside Ino…

“What the hell…OWWWWW” Ino mutters as she tries to sit up. Only find the pain increasing with each degree of increased elevation for her head. Feeling that pressure building at the back of her mind, she latches onto her father's wrist as he starts a defense jutsu against this onslaught of mind attacks.

His daughter aiding him as she repeats the motion, the two combine forces as a wall arises around their minds as well as those of their family. Struggling to maintain that defense, the two Yamanakas find themselves being aided eventually one by one as brothers, sisters, cousins and others lend their strength to their clan head and his heir.

Two hours later, both stop and nearly fall to the ground once more with exhaustion…

“Papa…let's not go through that again!”

“Agreed daughter…agreed…”

Grinning, now somewhat wryly they look at the relieved forms of both Hokages. “If it helps…we can tell you this much.” The elder Yamanaka stated with a grin.

“This person, you are looking for Tsunade-sensei, is a woman…”

“Crap…” Was all both Hokages said. Unlike most clans were the Bloodline is considered the strongest in men, in the case of the Tanaka clan. Theirs was immensely powerful through the women…

Sighing as this overwhelms them, Arashi's eyes light up with a light as he looks to his fellow Hokage.

“Tsunade…I have an idea concerning the Chuunin exams…”

Surprised by this statement, as they had only discussed the event this morning, Tsunade leans forward to listen…
