Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ A Prisoner at Daybreak ❯ Advent of the Dawn ( Chapter 1 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto or anything related to it. This work was done purely for entertainment and I did not make any profit. This applies to the entire story.

This is a divergent timeline story, meaning that it picks up somewhere in canon and goes off on its own tangent from there. In this case, the story starts during the climactic battle of the Search for Tsunade arc. Hope you enjoy it.

Chapter One: Advent of the Dawn

“It looks like things are getting pretty heated down there, eh Itachi-san?” a cloaked figure observed, gazing down at titanic battle in the valley below.

“Orochimaru is overestimating his abilities if he thinks himself capable of fighting the other two Sannin in his current condition. What a fool.” Uchiha Itachi scoffed.

“Still sore about what he tried to do to you?” the first man chuckled. He grinned at his partner, revealing rows of small, dagger-like teeth.

“No, I simply despise such stupidity. It is unbecoming of a shinobi.”

“That may be true, but he's certainly provided us with a great opportunity. They're so busy fighting that the jinchuuriki is practically unguarded.”

“Then let us retrieve him before the situation changes. Come Kisame.”

The two formed a few seals and disappeared in a puff of smoke.

“This will finish it.” Tsunade resolved, holding up her fist to the shaking man before her.

She focused all of her remaining chakra, as well as all the pain, suffering, and sorrow she had been forced to relive into this one, final blow. Walking calmly towards her old teammate, she knew that this was the end. There was no way he was getting up from this one.

She stalked slowly over towards him until she stood only a foot away.

“It's over Orochimaru!” she cried, sending her fist slamming into his face at point blank range. The snake Sannin let out a terrible cry of anguish as he was sent flying through the air. He collided head on with Gamabunta's giant sword and fell to the ground in a broken heap.

“Orochimaru-sama!” Kabuto yelled, leaping over to his fallen master and falling to his knees.

The pale man gave a few ragged gasps before expiring; a great evil forever gone from the world. Kabuto shed a single tear for his late lord before finally collapsing; the damage from the Rasengan had caught up with him.

Tsunade fell to her knees as well, panting heavily. Already she could feel the aftereffects of her Genesis Rebirth technique starting to kick in. She watched in disgust as her true form was revealed; that of a badly aged woman.

“You killed him.”

She got to her feet slowly, still trembling from exhaustion and chakra depletion. “Are you angry?”

Jiraiya sighed and thought about it for a moment, casting a sad glance over at what had once been his best friend and rival. “No. The Orochimaru I cared about died years ago.”

“We'll have to drink to old times when we get back to Konoha then.” Tsunade mused, turning to Jiraiya and smiling wearily.

If he was surprised at all by her suddenly older appearance, the pervert managed to hide it well. “Yes, a toast to our memories and fallen comrades.”

Their moment was suddenly interrupted by the sound of a struggle and muffled cries from behind.

“Tsunade-sama!” Shizune managed to scream before being knocked out by Kisame, who let her fall unceremoniously to the ground.

The two remaining Sannin turned at once to the source of the commotion. The blood drained from both of their faces when they saw just who had arrived. Staring back at them through cold onyx eyes was none other than Uchiha Itachi himself.

“Itachi?! Why is he here!?” Tsunade exclaimed, hardly believing that the famous mass-murderer had appeared.

“He's a member of Akatsuki. They're after Naruto.” Jiraiya muttered, steeling himself for a fight. He knew his chances of defeating not only Itachi, but Kisame as well were not especially high; even less so thanks to the drug Tsunade had slipped him.

“Calm down Jiraiya-sama, Tsunade-sama. We haven't come here to fight with you. There wouldn't be much point anyway, given your current level of fatigue.”

Tsunade snorted and cracked her knuckles. “I'm always ready to fight brats like you Uchiha.”

She was about to rush at the pair when Jiraiya grabbed her arm and held her back.

“Let go of me Jiraiya! I won't let them take Naruto!”

“Stop it Tsunade! Getting yourself killed won't help Naruto one bit! Even at full strength we would be hard-pressed to defeat these two.”

The fiery blonde gritted her teeth and looked away from her teammate, silently acknowledging the truth in his words, yet refusing to accept it.

“What are you going to do with him?” Jiraiya asked, looking up at the cloaked pair.

“That's really none of your business old man.” Kisame snorted, breaking his silence. He let out an amused chuckle when Jiraiya's eyes narrowed to a glare.

“Well now, we really must be going.” Itachi cut in. He motioned for Kisame to pick up Naruto and disappeared in a cloud of smoke as quickly as he had come.

Kisame lifted Naruto bodily with one hand and tucked the unconscious teen securely under his arm. “Another time then, perhaps.” he grinned and followed after his partner.

When the smoke had cleared, Tsunade rushed over to Shizune to check her condition while Jiraiya secured Kabuto for the trip back to Konoha. Within the space of five minutes they were ready to go, their twin wills hell bent on getting home to the village and devising a plan to save Naruto before it was too late…

“For a twelve year old, this kid sure weighs a lot.” Kisame complained for what seemed to Itachi the hundredth time since they had captured the boy. If one could even call kidnapping an unconscious child `capturing'.

While Itachi was pleased that they had completed one of their assignment so soon, the method in which it had been done disturbed him. He didn't care one way or the other what happened to this friend of Sasuke's, this Uzumaki Naruto, but he did believe that the blond deserved a chance to defend himself at the very least.

He quickly squashed that thought along with what little remained of his conscience. It wouldn't have made any difference if Naruto had been awake and at full strength; he still would have ended up in the same position. If anything, the boy was lucky to have been spared the Tsukiyomi.

“Itachi-san, what do you think the leader will decide to do with him? We can't extract the demon from him yet and the three year checkpoint is approaching.”

“His fate is not our concern. All that matters is that we have completed our mission successfully.”
“I guess you're right. Still, I can't help but pity the kid a little.”

“Hn.”

Itachi didn't feel sorry for Naruto in the slightest, but he was quite sure of one thing; whatever ended up happening to the blonde, it would not be pleasant.

I kinda killed Orochimaru right off the bat didn't I? Oh well, I've never really liked him much anyway. Just to clarify, there will be some slight yaoi in this story, but it will be quite awhile before I introduce that particular element. There will also be quite a bit of violence and gore, so please don't complain to me if that isn't your cup of tea; you were warned after all. Finally, the chapters will be relatively short for update convenience and timeliness. All that said, it would please me greatly (i.e. make me giggle like a little schoolgirl) if you would leave a review. Preferably a good one, but flames are fine too…I'll be happy as long as I get some feedback.
