Author's Notes: Wow! It's been ages since I last updated, but look at all the reviews! (Yes, just one, just it's awesome! Yay!) And because of that one and only reviewer (Aukai) I'm dedicating this entire chapter to her as a thankyou.
Hopefully this chapter will be alright, I haven't had much time for writing lately and writers block has been getting me down. Damn the thing…-mutters darkly-
Sasuke: Well isn't this fun! More pain for me!
Fox: Yes! I love it!
Sasuke: … I was being sarcastic.
Itachi: Well I enjoy seeing my foolish little brother suffer, such a joy it is.
Sasuke: You would, sick bastard, I bet you're getting hard on this right now…
Itachi: You know me so well.
Sasuke: O.O I was being SARCASTIC, damn it, s-a-r-c-a-s-t-i-c!
Fox: -Cough- We have some minor problems right now, so I guess it's time for review replies!
Aukai: My first review for this fanfiction on MediaMiner! Go you! Thankyou so much for reviewing, and thanks even more for praising this fic so much! I feel loved!!! …almost… Lol, ignore the crazy girl. Anyways, since you asked for it, I updated! ^.^ As you were the only person who reviewed, I'm dedicating the chapter all to you! -Cheers- Lets give you a Sasu/Naru plushie, since you love them so much.
Onto the fiction!
The next two days passed uneventfully, training continued and, to Sasuke's immense relief, the dreams appeared to have stopped, for the time being anyway.
Currently, the dark haired teen was leaning in his usual spot against the rails of the bridge where cell seven met every morning before training. He had been the last to arrive that morning, since he had slept in later then usual. Naruto appeared to have forgotten all about the `incident' that had occurred roughly forty eight hours before hand, apparently he had not heard Kakashi's final comment towards Sasuke either, but then again, the fox boy's mind reminded Sasuke strongly of a sieve. Things went in one side and came straight out the other.
The Uchiha was surprised to see that they were missing Sakura, and she was usually either the first or second to arrive out of the three of them. However, this was forgotten within a few moments when he caught sight of a very familiar silver haired Jounin reading a bright orange novel. Sasuke had no need to say anything about the rather strange situation, for Kakashi got there first. “Ah, Sasuke, here at last I see.” There was a sharp nod in reply, but that was it. “Well, now that we're all here…” The scarecrow began, but was interrupted by his other, much louder student.
“Hey, Master Kakashi! Where's Sakura? Is she sick?” The orange clad shinobi immediately began to worry as the thought popped into his mind. What if she was hurt or caught some terrible disease! “Don't worry Naruto, Sakura is fine. She just has a new mission for today. She will be back before Monday.” The blonde breathed a sigh of relief, seeing as it was Friday, he wouldn't have to wait long to see Sakura again.
“Why was she given a mission without us?” Both Kakashi and Naruto turned to look at Sasuke as he spoke. The older ninja closed his eyes lazily. “She has been chosen as part of a specialist team, her skills suit well with two other Chuunin's techniques. Their particular skills are needed for this mission.” He explained, not bothering to go into too much detail. Both boys nodded in understanding as their teacher rolled his shoulders suddenly and began to (with an incredibly slow pace) move away from them. “Time to go then, we don't have many missions today, but I have something to show you later.” Intrigued with what this `something' may be, they followed without question.
The next few hours consisted of minor tasks which (though really were only for Naruto, as Sasuke was no longer part of the team, in truth) were each completed by the two younger males of the group in a relatively short amount of time.
As always, Kakashi had either sat in a tree or flopped down on the grass, complaining of either a stomach ache or muscle cramps while pulling out his `Come Come Paradise' novel with flourish. Sighing and knowing very well that the older man would not help them at all (well, Sasuke had known this, Naruto had continually attempted to force the Jounin to help them, each time ending up face first on the ground) they had gone about there work. Both knew that the scarecrow did not actually have to help them, but he didn't have to be so god damned lazy.
After pulling out weeds, retrieving lost or stolen items and finding various pets and children for the majority of the day, the missions finally came to an end when Kakashi stretched and yawned after yet another nap, signaling for them to follow him.
“Master Kakashi! Are you going to show us that thing now?” It amazed Sasuke that the blonde, who had only moments before appeared absolutely exhausted, was now bouncing about, excited at the thought of learning a new technique or jutsu. “Ah yes, I almost forgot.” The silver haired man smiled beneath his mask, or, that was what they guessed he was doing, since his eyes resembled upturned `U's' at that moment. “What is it then?” Sasuke asked, his voice sounding uninterested, though that was far from the truth. “Wait and see, I'll show you when we arrive at the training grounds.”
The walk to the training grounds seemed to stretch out till the end of forever that day, it didn't help when the one supposedly leading them somehow managed to get lost every few seconds, despite the fact that he had lived in Konoha all his life. “Naruto, stop running around in circles and just stick with us.” The dark haired Chuunin finally snapped, unable to take the continuous `game' of hide and seek. The fox boy pouted “Can't tell me what to do, Bastard!” And flounced off ahead of them, exaggerating every movement he made. This simply caused his hips to swing in a strangely alluring fashion (well, to Sasuke it was alluring) and allowed the slightly older boy to receive a very nice view of the ramen loving ninja's rear end.
Deciding suddenly to become observant once more (he had somehow turned both blind and deaf during the times Naruto had flashed Sasuke a very rude gesture which had involved his middle finger) Kakashi raised an eyebrow “I thought you said you didn't like Naruto.” Instantly, the Uchiha's eyes snapped away from the prancing blonde boy ahead of them and to the ground at his feet, hands shoved into his pockets. “I don't” He scowled back, a warning the older Shinobi obviously did not pay any attention too. “That's not a very convincing answer, especially when you just so happened to be staring directly at his backside.” Face flushed crimson, Sasuke forced himself to breathe in deeply, “I was not” He hissed dangerously. The scarecrow simply shrugged, though the dark haired boy was sure he was smirking beneath that mask of his.
Finally, they arrived at the training grounds just as the sun began to slowly sink from it's perch so high up in the sky. Naruto immediately began to bombard his teacher with questions about the `thing' the older man promised to show them. “Be quiet for a moment Naruto, and I'll tell you what it is.” Instantly, the said boy shut up and plopped down on the ground, legs crossed and staring up at the silver haired Jounin. Sasuke simply leant against a tree trunk, waiting with a bored expression upon his face. “Today I will teach you how to mould your chakra correctly when walking on water…” Once again, he was interrupted by a loud voice, “But Master Kakashi, we already know how to do that!” Sasuke winced at the voice, but instantly returned his face to its blank, emotionless self once again. “Do you now? I must be loosing my memory.” The Uchiha could have sworn he smirked then. “Well, I suppose you'll just have to spar together for the rest of the day then, have fun.” And in a puff of pale smoke, he was gone.
“How does he do that?” The blonde wondered aloud, voice surprisingly quiet before the volume was increased once again. “Hurry up Bastard, I need to train to get stronger!” Sasuke sighed, “I'm not sparring with you, Dobe.” Naruto pouted, “Yes you are, so get up!” Despite the fact that the older boy was already standing, the comment was spoken anyway. “No, I'm not. Now shut up idiot, you're giving me a head ache.” About to move away, the kitsune was suddenly before him, eyes narrowed.
“Yes, you are.”
“No”
“Yes!”
“No”
“Yeesss!”
“No”
“Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessss!”
“No”
“Yeeeeeee-”
“I said no damn it!”
Naruto's face screwed up into a strange look, as if thinking, weighing out his choices for something. Quickly though, the slightly retarded look was replaced with a pair of large, pleading eyes. “Pleeeease?” He clasped his hands together and pouted cutely. Sasuke's own eyes shot open in surprise and a small, almost nonexistent blush coloured his cheeks. “Fine” He muttered darkly, pushing the blonde away.
“Yay! Sasuke's gonna train with me!” Performing a small dance of joy, (which included much rear end shaking and much rear end watching on Sasuke's part) the blonde grinned and suddenly disappeared into the forest around them. With a heaved sigh, Sasuke retrieved a kunai from the holster strapped to his thigh The afternoon sun had bather the world in a golden glow, the sky's colours changed slowly as the large disk set below the horizon. The strange glow caused the shadows to dance and sway, making it near impossible for the Uchiha to guess where the other teen was. However, he had no need to find him.
An orange blur flew out from the foliage to his left, coming directly at him. Drawing back his arm, the dark haired boy let the Kunai in his hand fly at the orange blur. Naruto, who had obviously been suspecting this, simply threw himself at the ground, bouncing away and letting his own volley of shuriken zoom towards his rival. Dodging them easily, Sasuke sprinted forwards at the blonde for hand to hand combat.
Grinning, the blonde ducked just as a fist aimed for his head met thin air. “Missed me.” He taunted cruelly, managing to plough his elbow into the other's stomach. The blow knocked the Uchiha back a few steps, sucking in gasps of air while trying to regain his breathe. Grasping to moment, Naruto darted forwards, fist raised to catch the dark haired boy in his face. Dodging the fist, the taller of the two smirked when the opening appeared before him. Changing forwards suddenly, Sasuke slammed the fox into the tree trunk behind him, grabbing his wrists and holding them above the blonde's head.
Sasuke smirked, Naruto pouted, their chests pressed together as they panted heavily. Suddenly realizing how close they were, the older teen blushed slightly. The smaller boy was gazing up at him, an odd look upon his face. “Sasuke?” He said suddenly, voice soft. “Y-yes Naruto?” He replied, heartbeat increasing suddenly. What was the blonde going to say? What? The silence was almost deafening, it was excruciating. He waited, and then suddenly…
“I can see up your nose.”
Author's Notes: Wow, that was quite a long chapter, yay! -Happy dance- (yes, Fox does a dance just like Naruto does. Much ass shaking included!) I'm not sure if I liked the fight scene, it was very short and hard to understand, I could see it playing over in my head, but I just couldn't write it down. Argggh! I liked the ending though, well, the last sentence. It just popped into my while I was typing and I knew exactly how to end it. Anyway, review to tell me what you think!
