A Silent Notion
Sasuke scowled as he noticed the expiration date on the milk carton. It had gone bad last week. No wonder Naruto hadn't been feeling so well yesterday. It never ceased to amaze him, Naruto's complete oblivion to things like fresh groceries and expiration dates. He sighed as he placed the carton in the trash can.
It had been two months since Sasuke's apartment had burnt down. Kakashi-Sensei had insisted on Sasuke's staying with Naruto, much to Sakura's despair. Something about them being similar. But looking around the garbage dump Naruto called home, nothing came to mind.
He also seemed to have picked up some of Naruto's bad habits, as well. He found himself eating - and enjoying - cup ramen several times a week. Not like there's much else to eat around here. He scowled again.
“Hey Sasuke!” Naruto's voice drifted through the apartment complex and into the kitchen. “Look what I have!”
He burst into the kitchen and carelessly flung a rather large bag into Sasuke's arms. “Chocolates!” He panted, then stopped to catch his breath.
“Chocolates?” Sasuke's eyes narrowed slightly, giving the excited boy a rather unpleasant look. He didn't seem to notice.
“I spent the money I've been saving from our missions on this amazing chocolate! Let's eat some! We have like a half of a gallon of milk left! It'll go great with these unbelievably good chocolates!” His eyes were wide and his smile was ear to ear.
“Usuratonkachi.” Sasuke replied coolly.
Naruto's grin faltered slightly and his eyes were remarkably less open. “Nani?”
“The milk went bad a week ago. I just threw it out.”
Naruto thought about that for a moment. “But it can't be bad! I had some with my cereal yesterday.”
“And you were sick yesterday.”
“Oh… um…” His voice trailed off, meaning he accepted defeat. Sasuke put the bag of chocolate on the counter and headed for the door.
“I'm tired of rotten food and Ramen. I'm going to buy some real groceries.” Just as he stepped though the door, he glanced back. “And clean this place up a bit while I'm gone, ne?”
***
Naruto's face fell considerably as Sasuke left the apartment. Clean? That's not one of the Shinobi's duties. Why should he have to clean the house? But still, if Sasuke returned to the house looking the same as when he left… Naruto shuddered. Sasuke wasn't much fun when he was angry.
Naruto sighed and looked around. “Let's see, the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom, the living room… man, this whole place is dirty! How does he expect me to do this all by myself?!”
An idea struck him just then. “Hehehe, just because this isn't a job for a Shinobi doesn't mean I can't do it the Shinobi way. Kage Bushin no Jutsu!” Five Naruto's now filled the room. “Alright! Our mission is to clean this place up before Sasuke gets home! Go!”
Naruto smiled to himself. The bedroom is the least dirty. I better hurry up and grab that room. “Oh no you don't!” The Naruto next to him yelled. Things weren't going quite as he had planned. Five Naruto's now fought each other in the hallway to be the first in the bedroom.
“I saw it first!”
“Who cares?! I'll beat you up and take it!”
“Don't make me use the Rasengan on you!”
***
Sasuke came home to five very tired Naruto's laying on the living room floor. “Kage Bushin no Jutsu, eh? Well, at least it's clean now.” Clean was a bit of an understatement. The house was immaculate. The floor had even been waxed and the kitchen sparkled. Sasuke didn't think Naruto would actually clean the whole house just because he told him to.
“I'm going to start dinner now.” Sasuke said as he began putting away the groceries. He even cleaned out the fridge. Amazing. Did what I said really have that much of an impact on him?
“Dinner?” Four of the five Naruto's vanished and, seemingly forgetting his fatigue, he made his way into the kitchen. “I didn't know you could cook.”
“It's a skill that comes with living alone. I don't see how you never learned. Then again, your obsession with cup ramen explains a lot.”
Naruto ignored this last comment. “What are you going to make?”
Sasuke smirked a little. It was so easy to excite Naruto. “Not Ramen, if that's what you're thinking. And get out of the kitchen. This is going to take a while, and you're going to make it twice as hard if you're under my feet the whole time.” As Naruto trudged slowly out of the kitchen, Sasuke's fingers went to work.
He began with a nice appetizer. Asari no Sakamushi, clams steamed in sake. He was lucky he ran into Lady Tsunade while he was out. After a brief explanation of why he wanted some sake, she was more than happy to oblige. While that boiled he started the main course, Buri no Teriyaki, Yellowtail cooked liberally in Teriyaki sauce. As he put the fish aside to marinate, he strained the clams, tossing the ones that didn't open, and poured them into a bowl with a small amount of the Sake they had cooked in, and garnished it with some ginger and a lemon wedge. He carried it to the table and called for Naruto.
“Is it done?!” He came barreling down the hall and skidded to a stop right in front of the table.
“No, but the appetizer is, and it should be eaten fresh.” Sasuke pulled a clam out of the bowl, shelled it, squeezed some lemon onto it, and stuck it in his mouth. “Not bad. Eat up. Dinner will be served in about 15 minutes.”
***
It was like nothing he'd ever tried before. Dare he think it? Could it possibly be better than Ramen? That's not possible. But it IS good. Really good. Naruto continued to savor the clams while the sweet smell from the kitchen entertained his nose. If the appetizer is this good, I wonder what we're having for dinner… It smells great.
He crept toward the kitchen and peeked around the corner. A spoon hit him flat on his forehead. “Didn't I tell you to stay out of the kitchen?”
“Yes.” Naruto grumbled back to the table and polished off the last few clams. Moments later Sasuke walked out carrying two plates of steaming fish. Naruto tore into the fish enthusiastically and his eyes widened at the fabulous taste. “Wow Sasuke! This is amazing!”
He continued to devour the fish and Sasuke murmured, “Usuratonkachi.”
***
Sasuke cleared the dishes as Naruto stretched the length of the couch. “So full…” he moaned, holding his stomach. Sasuke chuckled at him.
“You shouldn't have eaten so much.” Sasuke moved Naruto's legs and settled on the far side of the couch.
“It was just so good!” He groaned, and Sasuke smirked. It was the first time he'd ever shared his cooking with someone else, and he was a bit surprised at how good it felt to have someone compliment it. “You'll cook again tomorrow, ne, ne?!”
Overexcited as usual, Naruto. “We'll see.” He let out a long yawn and stood up. “I'm pretty tired now. I'm going to head to bed.” He took a step forward as Naruto pulled his feet closer to him, and in the process, brushed against Sasuke's thigh, sending sparks up his side. Sasuke froze.
“Yeah, I think I'll go to bed too.” He got up and stretched liberally, completely unaware of the strange sensation he had caused to course through the dark haired boy next to him.
I must be more tired than I thought… Sasuke shook off the sensation and headed towards the boy's shared bedroom with Naruto dogging at his heels.
***
Naruto sprawled over his side of the futon as usual, stealing most of the covers and taking up more space than seemed humanly possible for the small boy. Sasuke lay silent and still, listening to the blondes' steady breathing. He was clearly asleep, leaving Sasuke to his muddled thoughts.
The small blonde rolled over. Sasuke twitched. He felt so strange… What was this he was feeling? Another shift, and a leg was thrown casually over the thinner boy. Sasuke tried to control his breathing as an unfamiliar warm sensation spread across his body from the area the limb so carelessly touched.
He forced himself to stay calm, but a fever was slowly beginning to spread over his pale flesh. Nani… this heat… With a shaky arm, he pushed Naruto's leg off of his body. He felt a little better, but the heat wouldn't go away.
Another roll, and a hand landed on his chest. Normally, Sasuke would be annoyed and pushing Naruto back on his side of the futon. But something about tonight made it unbearable. A light blush spread across his cheeks when he realized he was sexually aroused. The bulge in his boxers was steadily growing larger, and he started to realize something he didn't quite understand. I'm attracted… to Naruto?
Panic quickly accompanied the fever as he tried to sort out what it meant. Was he really attracted to Naruto? Sakura had always liked him, but he never felt anything for her. Most of the girls in their class liked him. He never felt close to any of them. I've never liked anyone before…
Nervous and unsure, he rolled over on his side to look at the sleeping blonde. Such a peaceful expression… So sweet and innocent… He reached out an unsteady hand to trace a finger across the sleeping innocent's jaw. An involuntary murmur of approval slipped from his lips which set Sasuke's skin aflame.
Shaking and confused, he gently rocked the boy until he was awake. “What is it Sasuke?” His voice was thick with sleep, and his eyes remained closed. Sasuke's heart stopped. What exactly did he plan to do? I have to find out if this is what I think it is. He told himself. He forced himself to sit up and move forward in slow, quivering motions.
***
He felt Sasuke's hot breath on his face, and a chill shot through his body. Before he had time to react, soft, unsteady lips pressed against his own and his eyes flew open in shock. Dark hair brushed against his cheek and, not fully understanding the situation, he received his first kiss. It was an innocent, open mouthed kiss, where the lips met but the delicacy of tongues did not.
When they finally parted, electricity charged his lips and light headedness ensnared his senses. He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. He could barely make out Sasuke's lithe figure in the encompassing darkness. It was impossible to make out his expression.
“I… I…” Sasuke began quietly. But he couldn't seem to find the words, leaving Naruto confused and, for once in his life, speechless. Then Sasuke got up and ran from the room, Naruto's unsteady gaze following his outline in the dark until it disappeared.
***
He sat in his favorite tree on the outskirts of town. What have I done? He didn't even say anything… I wonder what he was thinking… Sasuke sighed. It had felt surprisingly good to kiss Naruto, and his lips still had the furor of the brief joining. But what was he going to do now? What was Naruto going to think, what was he going to say?
He felt like a fool for fleeing after doing such a thing. Naruto was probably confused, and maybe angry. He should have explained himself. But how? How do you explain something like that? He laid his head on his knees and contemplated what he should do.
***
He pressed a finger against his lips and drug them along the spot where moments ago, Sasuke's lips had been. It was all so new to him. But it felt good… He wasn't sure at all what it meant. Sasuke… was a guy, and he had liked Sakura for such a long time. Or maybe I just got so used to liking her that I stopped a long time ago…
He blinked. Could that really be the truth?
Sleep was out of the question now. He got up and went to the kitchen for a glass of water. He leaned against the counter and tried to sort his feelings out.
***
It was nearing dawn when the Naruto heard the door click. He hadn't moved an inch; his water sat on the counter untouched. He silently watched as the silhouette unknowingly walked past him and down the hallway. “He's gone.” The quiet voice drifted to him, shattering the silence in Naruto's head. He listened as Sasuke shifted around, getting comfortable on the futon they shared.
He waited a long time before he dared make a sound. He wanted to be sure Sasuke was fully asleep. Then he turned and opened the fridge.
***
His sleep was erratic and short lived. He laid there for a moment, acutely aware of the fact that Naruto hadn't returned. He turned his head to look at the empty spot next to him. He felt empty. He closed his eyes. He'd really blown it. How was he ever going to be able to face him again?
And what was that smell?
“Sasuke.” A soft voice drifted through the house, and it took a moment for Sasuke to realize that he didn't imagine it. He slowly got to his feet, taking hesitant steps towards the sound, half afraid, half curious.
What he found when he got to his destination was bewildering.
Naruto had set the table, and he was carrying two steaming plates as he stepped out of the kitchen.
“Nani?” Sasuke's eyes took in the contents of the plates; Scrambled eggs made with ham, onion and cheese, fluffy hot waffles and a English muffin was set in front of him.
“I just figured, you made dinner last night. It wouldn't hurt to try my hand at making you something delicious. It's not as good as what you made, but I did my best.” Naruto grinned wholeheartedly, a light flush tinted his cheeks and he ran his fingers through his hair.
Sasuke, not knowing what to say, began pouring syrup on his waffle. Naruto had sat down too, but, Sasuke noticed, he wasn't really eating. He was watching Sasuke.
Self consciously, he took a bite. Wow. When did he learn to cook like this?
Open-eyed and excited, Naruto burst out, “Is it good? Ne?”
Sasuke couldn't help but smile. “Usuratonkachi. Try it and you'll know.”
***
The next few days went by pretty normally. The incident wasn't brought up, and their daily routine was almost normal. Except there was a great deal of purposefully avoiding touching the other in any way.
Sakura had bumped into Sasuke, and rather than run into Naruto, he let himself fall flat on his face. Naruto waited until Sasuke was completely finished to grab something next to him, rather than reach across him. No one else seemed to notice, but both boys were acutely aware of their little dance.
One night after a long day of missions, they lay together on the shared futon, both feigning sleep, both listening to the other boy's breathing.
Pretending to be squirming in his sleep, Sasuke moved his leg so that it was just slightly touching Naruto's thigh. Naruto's hand came down on his calf. Sasuke's leg went over his knee. Naruto rolled over, his hand sliding up Sasuke's thigh.
It was an intricate game, both pretending to sleep, each knowing the other was awake. But at this stage of their uncertainty, the charade was important.
Before long, the two boys had managed to wriggle into each others arms, and both were breathing heavily. Sasuke was content with this, and was determined to just go to sleep this way. They weren't ready for this. They still didn't know what they were doing…
Hot, wet lips shattered his thoughts, and he parted his own lips to allow the other boy entry. It was gentle at first, an unknowing tongue searching another. But light, unknowing flickers quickly turned into passionate lunges, entwining the depths of their mouths as Naruto trailed a hand up Sasuke's back to grasp at the thick, soft hair at the nape of his neck.
The now familiar heat spread like a wildfire across Sasuke's body as he dug his fingers into Naruto's side. He twisted his fingers into the other boy's shirt and pulled him closer. He wanted to be closer, so close he could feel the blonde's heart beating in tune with his own.
They broke from the kiss with a dazed feeling. Sasuke opened his mouth to speak, but Naruto pressed a finger to it as he attacked the side of his neck with delicate nibbles. Sasuke groaned softly as Naruto drug his tongue up the side of his neck and traced the outline of his ear. Sasuke gently bit the finger pressing against his lips, sucking slightly on the tip. It was Naruto's turn to groan, a soft, breathy sound that tickled the inside of Sasuke's ear and sent blood rushing to his manhood.
Sasuke pushed the blonde back and climbed on top of him, needing, wanting. He attacked Naruto's mouth, fevered lips sucking, teeth nibbling, while his hands explored every intricate detail of the other boy's body. A momentary break in the kiss to remove both boy's shirts and he continued his ravishing, lips trailing the blonde's jaw, tasting the salt that had been caused by the boy's sudden need.
He drug his tongue down the boy's chest, stopping to lick at his nipple, one hand deep in the boy's mess of hair and another gripping his side. The other boy's hands were at work as well, tracing Sasuke's cheek and fingers running up his side. It was hot, unbearably hot, as he sucked at the boy's stomach, leaving light, purple bruises across it.
Naruto dug his fingers into Sasuke's boxers and tugged hard. The soft slap of the dark haired boy's erection as it hit his lover's thigh caused Sasuke to let out a moan of pleasure at the feel of skin on skin contact. It was Naruto's turn to push Sasuke down, and the thinner boy fell back, his hair wild in his face.
Gentle fingers explored the soft skin of his manliness while his mouth reveled in the sweet taste of Sasuke's thigh. His fingers rubbed the pink flesh at the tip as he nibbled his way up his leg. Pleased to hear the dark haired boy's breath grow ragged, he brought his mouth to the spot where his fingers once examined, and took a swift, experimental lick. The clear liquid seeping from the tip was sweet, and as his fingers moved downward to stoke the shaft, he swirled his tongue around the tip, hoping to taste more of that sweet liquid that showed Sasuke's appreciation for the activity at hand.
He nibbled at the tip while his hand ran up and down the shaft in fast, smooth motions. Pleasing sounds escaped his lovers' sweet lips, and he took the tip into his mouth to suck gently as his hand sped up. Back arched and moaning loudly, Sasuke dug his nails into the blankets surrounding him. He could feel the pressure building up, the shooting sensations of utopia coursing through his body. “Na-Naru-Naruto!” He screamed, and he reached out to grab Naruto's shoulder as the pleasure sent him over the edge, streams of warm, sticky liquid exiting his body into the blonde's willing mouth.
He fell back to the floor, white lights of ecstasy dancing before his eyes. Naruto wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, removing the last contents of the dark haired boy's bliss from his face. He moved forward, planting a sweet kiss on his flushed lover. Sasuke deepened the kiss, passion taking over his body as he pulled Naruto's boxers off and climbed on top of him.
Panting heavily, he gazed down upon his sweat glistened partner. “Are you sure… you want to do this?”
But just as before, Naruto only pressed a finger to his lips and leaned forward and gave his passionate answer in the form of a tantalizing kiss, sending blood pumping through both their systems. Fingers lost in dark hair, tongues entwined in titillating dance, Sasuke's hand flittering down the young blonde's side.
He broke the kiss to wet his fingers, and as they resumed their intimate oral dance, Sasuke touched a finger between Naruto's legs. He moaned a deep, throaty sound into Sasuke's open mouth, and Sasuke almost fell on top of the boy from the rush it sent down his spine. The dark haired boy bit at the blonde's neck as he inserted one finger into the place between his legs. He shuddered as he drew the finger in and out, slowly at first, then adding another finger, stretching the area, searching for the pearl behind the young boy's pleasure.
A sharp gasp and a ragged moan told him he had found it. He sped up his motions, lost in the sounds of his vulnerable lover.
Naruto shook with pleasure, feelings of warmth and tingling sensations overtook his body. The heat was so intense, he cried out and bit his lip in turn, trying desperately to control the uncontrollable. He murmured when Sasuke stopped, then his passionate eyes grew wide as he felt Sasuke's tip press against his opening.
“I apologize.” Sasuke said, then he thrust the length of his manhood into the boy beneath him. Naruto cried out in pain, his big blue eyes brimming with tears. Concerned cole eyes caught his gaze. “Do you want me to stop?”
The blue eyed blonde shook his head. The pain was already beginning to subside, and he thrust his hips forward, silently telling the concerned boy to move. Lips met once again as Sasuke slowly pulled out of Naruto until only the tip remained inside. He bit his lover's lip as he slowly pushed inside again, burying himself to the hilt. Naruto moaned in agreement, wriggling his hips in an attempt to tell the thinner boy to continue.
Slow, enticing thrusts mixed with passionate kisses, both boys moaning softly, shattered the serenity that was night. Sasuke sped his thrusts in time to meet Naruto's moving hips, his hand wandering to the blonde's neglected length. Timing his strokes with his thrusts, he bit at his lover's ear as a concupiscent moan dripped like honey from the boy's mouth.
Sasuke groaned as he felt Naruto's muscles tighten around his length, and as he neared the edge of reality, he thrust harder and faster, all of the senses tangled together as one, hot breath on his skin, succulent moans from his lover, soft skin on his, the sweet taste of salt, the distinct smell of their intimate dance and the masculine spice of his lover filling his nose.
He couldn't take it anymore and he leapt off the edge of reality, and as he began to soar, so did his partner, hot jets of warmth hitting his stomach and dripping down his fingers, the colors flashed behind his eyes and he drew sharp, ragged breaths, exploding with all that he was. Nails dug into his back and his fingers grasped blonde hair as he collapsed upon the boy beneath him.
Several moments passed while they regained their normal breathing and slowed their racing hearts. Neither boy stirred, holding on to each other, not out of the remanence of lust, but of a much different, lasting feeling.
Sasuke popped his head up and gazed into cloudy blue eyes. “Naruto…”
Naruto held a finger to his lips and said, “I love you.”
