Chapter 2
The Silent Type of Death
Finally, after a week of searching, a lead was finally scrounged up.
Some travelers from a nearby village said there was a pink haired girl of around 16 staying at an inn there. The Hokage immediately dispatched Sasuke, Naruto, Shino, Shikamaru, Neji and TenTen. In short, they were called Team Recovery
The lead itself was a week old but the chances of finding more were still likely.
Team Recovery (Team R for short) arrived twenty minuets after leaving Konoha's main gate at full speed. The village was a peaceful community. Everyone knew everyone and corruption is nigh.
Team R was given orders to wait at the local pub for the Elder of the village. The pub itself was one long room with two long tables stretching from the counter to the front doors. The Elder was sitting at the table to the right with two burley men sitting next to him.
The group of teens sat in front of him and for an answer whether he had information on Sakura or not. They sat for twenty minuets without making a sound or even moving, somehow Naruto managed but boredom was clear in his sky blue eyes, as well as anticipation.
The Elder smiled at the teens finally acting as though he noticed them. “It is good to finally meet some new young'ens that respects silence and solitude” He nodded at each of them keeping his smile in place.
“Elder,” Neji spoke with respect to the old man. “Do you have any information on our comrade?” The Elder looked the Hyuuga up and down then gazed over at the other table, over Neji's right shoulder and Sasuke's left.
There where few other people in the pub still being early afternoon. The old man gave a nod to the men by his sides and they left, leaving the old man by himself, unguarded. He then gestured towards the table behind them.
“Ask Mizu.” And with that he left.
Team R looked behind them to see the back of a teen girl with short, blond hair, tied back into two pigtails, hardly longer then her neck. She wore a black and white stripped tee shirt and dark blue bellbottom jeans that covered her feet and dragged on the floor. A sake bottle was too her right and her frame was hunched over, looking at something in front of her.
“…” She gestured to the seats beside her without so much as looking over at the teens behind her. Though they still transferred seats anyway. Once all seated they found that the girl called Mizu was looking at the cover of a sketch book.
She silently opened it and all of Team R gasped in both recognition and shock. The recognition being it was a sketch of Sakura sitting at the end of the table, looking anxious. The shock being that the sketch could easily be mistaken for a fine piece of excusive art work.
Every line was perfect to the brink of it being the real Sakura in 2D. The background as the pub was exactly the same in real life down to the slight burn mark at the corner. Sakura had a glass in front of her. She was looking at it with redemption, as if saying she didn't belong to this world.
The girl called Mizu had given Team R a piece of paper which mapped everything Sakura did in the town down to minute scale of where she went to use a public toilet to which inn she stayed at.
After questioning everyone who came in contact with Sakura they found her attitude remained as it did in Konoha. Fair, just, trustworthy, friendly, calm and so forth. Nothing seemed out of place except she left Leaf without a note left behind but instead her forehead protector.
Team R was heading down towards the road Sakura left by, to find the Elder and Mizu waiting for them.
“…” Mizu stared at them in turn and gave Shika a piece of folded parchment.
“That holds the directions your friend took after she left. It appears she is headed in a North West direction… not very encouraging for me I'm afraid, and Mizu here is worried a little as well.”
“…” Mizu nodded her head slightly in conformation of the old man's words.
Shika unfolded the parchment read the directions. Then let out a sigh.
“Troublesome” he muttered. “She left four days ago heading towards Sand.”
“…” Mizu tapped her foot twice and pointed towards a nearby building when she had every ones attention.
“Ah, yes. We had a large harvest of rice last year so we thought we'd give some to you before it gets too old to eat and turns out as the bird's harvest.” The old man chuckled slightly at his joke while the blond teen beside him shook her head wearily, her short bangs waving lightly at the motion.
After some exchange of goodbyes with the old man and nods with the Mizu, Team R made their way through the forest using the directions given to them by the blond teen as Shika yelled them out every time they needed to change course.
“Nearly makes you wonder how they got all that information.” Neji remarked noticing how quiet and deserted the forest around them is. The team nodded their heads. They were running through the trees, looking for any sign Sakura or anyone else went the way the directions instructed.
The directions lead them to another small town. The villagers there said she traveled in a northern direction out of the village.
Nothing.
For three days of traveling by clues and/or sightings, nothing.
Sakura seemed to be always in the lead, and the only way Team R knew they were going the right way, were by people telling them they saw the pink haired, emerald eyed female teen go by, alone.
Sakura managed to out wit all of Team R all by herself.
Always ahead.
Never leaving any trails behind.
Only sightings lead them to where she went.
And when they got there…
They were ambushed.
They were betrayed.
Sakura is now a ninja of Sound.
Sakura…
Why?
Why did you betray us?
Why did you leave Leaf?
Why join Sound?
Did we hurt you?
Did we betray you, or insult you so much as to do this?
Why, Sakura?
Why…
Because I wanted to,
I know this chapter is short but it is meant to be to give some suspense
Shinji: Really? I hade no clue…
Ceer: Oh, don't you give me lip. I am not in a good mood right now.
Shinji: Why not?
Ceer: Oh, just life in general.
Shinji: Are you going suicidal?
Ceer: Just drop it.
