Chapter 1: Mitsukai

I sat in the back of my grandmother's white limo, my head resting against the black tinted window. My grandmother sat across from me talking about some upcoming party.
“You didn't have to send the limo or accompany me,” I said, interrupting her.
I could tell she was looking at me, figuring out why I was all of a sudden talking and saying something like that.
“You're not safe in these streets, Mitsukai, especially knowing what…” she said leaving the sentence hang.
`You are,' is what she was going to say. Everything with my grandmother is what you are. My being a half demon and a half vampire is a problem. My grandmother takes extra security precautions. As if I can't take care of myself. One day when I was visiting her I asked why she took such precautions and she replied by saying `It's to make sure you don't harm others and others don't harm you.'
I sighed. “You're going to attract unwanted attention from the students on campus.”
“What do I care about what the students think,” she said pursing her lip.
I sighed again and decided to change the subject. “I'm surprised you let me attend a school, especially knowing what I am.”
She scowled at me. “It was not what I wanted; it's what your mother wanted.”
`Mother,' I thought as tears threatened to fall but I closed my eyes and willed them to stop.
It seemed like only yesterday my mother and I was laughing at a joke I made over a big bowl of vanilla ice-cream. She just had to go to that meeting with her boss, even after I said it was a bad idea.
My mother's body was found dead in her boss's office where they were to have the meeting. It was all over the news because she was well known. My mother the vampire was killed even after she said she would be in my life forever. The same thing my father said and now they were both dead trying to protect something like me, a half demon and half vampire. It's a shame what half of something can cause.
My father was a full blooded demon who fell in love with my full blooded vampire mother. They met when my mother accidentally pushed my mother causing her to land face first in a tub of vanilla ice-cream. I laughed when she told me this but now it doesn't seem so funny.
“Mitsukai,” my grandmother began.
“Yes, grandmother?” I asked fingering my school uniform.
My school uniform was made up of the colors gray, white, and pink. When the school gave me a chance to choose between pants and skirts, I jumped at the chance of getting to where pants instead of a skirt for a school uniform. The pants were gray and long, but I cut the pants five inches below my butt and re-stitched it with pink threads.
The shirt was a plain, short-sleeved, white shirt that I took the liberty of giving a makeover. I found some grey cloth, along with a gray, white, and pink plaid cloth and some long sleeved dress shirts at a fabric store nearby. I took the gray cloth and made it into a sleeveless turtle neck vest to put over the long sleeved dress shirt. I then made the plaid fabric into a skirt just in case I sometimes felt like wearing a skirt, which will be rarely.
“Yuki, I prefer Yuki,” she said.
“Yes, Yuki?”
“Please be good.” She said as the limo pulled up in front of the school building.
“Of course.” I said getting out.

I was glad to see that everybody was not outside on the school grounds. I was also happy to see the school halls empty. I made a beeline straight to the main office. I knocked once before entering.
The secretary smiled sweetly at me before handing me my schedule. You can't forget seeing somebody with peach hair and peach, with a tint of orange, eyes.
“Thanks,” I said smiling back at her, before walking out.
I looked down at my schedule, it read:

I sighed and looked at the numbers above the nearest doors. It read 201, 202, and 203.
I groaned. `Looks like I'll have to go to the other buildings.'
I walked across the lush green school's lawn and entered another building. I looked at the number above the door closest to me. It read 400. I nearly jumped in joy. Nearly. I looked at the door next to it just to be sure. It read 401. Nothing bad happened so far. I pulled my hair up in a neat bun and put on the hat I designed to with the plaid fabric. The hat was a little big, but that was how I wanted it to be. After doing that, I knocked on the door quietly and moved so my soon to be classmates didn't see me. A guy with a black scarf tied on his head stepped out and looked to the other side before looking at me. He flinched. Not surprised.
He closed the door before asking, “Are you the new student?”
`Obviously,' I thought before saying, “Yes, sir.”
He walked back into the classroom leaving me to decide whether I should follow or not. I chose not and waited for the class to settle. A minute later, the class was silent. I walked and heard gasps and murmurs.
“Introduce yourself,” said I biki.
“My name is Mitsukai Kawashi and feel free to ask me any question.”
A lot of hands went up. I picked a girl with her blond hair in a single ponytail.
“Where did you get that tan? It's so dark,” she said.
“It's not a tan. What's your name?”
“Ino.”
I nodded and picked the girl next to her, who had long pink hair.
“Where did you live before you moved here, if you lived elsewhere?” she asked.
“United States Virgin Islands, your name?”
“Sakura, where is the United States Virgin Islands?”
“Um………It's kinda hard to explain. I think you'll probably need to look that up on the Internet for that.”
I picked a guy with spiky, blond hair.
“Why are you wearing the guys uniform, well what's left of it?”
I giggled and said flirtatiously, “Is their something wrong with me wearing pants?”
“N-n-n-no,” he stuttered.
I giggled again and said, “Well, I decided to wear pants because skirts reveal too much, I don't know if there are any perverted guys in this school, and skirts are much more troubling than pants. What's your name?”
“N-Naruto.” He stuttered out again.
“Ok, that's enough,” Ibiki said.
I slightly bowed, “Sorry Ibiki-sama.”
He looked at me weirdly before saying, “Sit down in the seat behind the empty desk next to Naruto.”
`I wonder why he didn't just give me the seat next to Naruto? Somebody must already sit there and they're just absent,' I thought before saying to Ibiki-sensei, “Okie dokie artichokie.”
He looked at me even more weirdly.
I giggled.
I felt a little drowsy when I sat down in the seat. There were three other vampires and a fox demon in this classroom and I have a feeling I knew who they were.
Ok, this ends chapter one. I couldn't think of a better title so can you help with that because I don't think this title fit. I promise the chapter will be longer but I just had to end it like this, on a cliff hanger. Please leave reviews, so I could know if I should continue writing the story. Ciao.
