It was raining the day he came back.
She had been outside, basking in the cold, slippery drops that clung to her shocking pink hair.
Something had not been right when she woke up. She had felt it in the air. She felt him in the air.
She had been right. He was there, standing ghostlike on the path, getting soaked. She bit her lip, taking him in. Dark, luxurious, though somewhat wet bangs fell into his eyes, casting them in shadow. Gaunt, hollowed cheeks and black smudges under his eyes gave him a unkept appearance. His eyes drew her like a magnet. So dangerously dark, like poisonous ebony ink. She felt herself begin to drown in the swirling resevoirs of black that completely dominated his face. No other pair of eyes had this much intensity, had so much erotic depth. No other gaze could cut right through her, as his did right now...
A coppery, metallic taste filled her mouth. Surprised, she realized that she had bitten down on her lip hard enough to draw blood.
The sound of footsteps drawing closer snapped her vision back up. She found herself staring into those eyes. His hand was raised slightly, poised to wipe away the blood that smeared her lip.
Then he did the last thing she expected.
He smirked, lowering his hand. "Screw that," he whispered. Sasuke ran his fingers slowly through her long, amazingly bright pink locks. His other hand had found its way around her waist and pulled her to him in a tight embrace. "I missed you, Haruno."
Her lips twitched in a small smile. "Me too."
She actually had no idea what she was playing at. She was standing in the arms of the boy whom she admired so much, even when she was a child. Yet her body was acting as if it were no big deal. I... I should do something...
She didn't have to do anything. He kissed her first.
Before her mind could register what was happening, his lips met hers. Her eyelids fluttered closed, drawing illusionary walls around herself. What's wrong with her? She had waited so long for this...
He smirked against her mouth, feeling her stiffen. He ran his fingers down her back, making her shudder. She struggled a little, causing him to kiss her more fiercely than before. Slowly, her body betrayed her despited her mind's will. Her hands moved of their own accord, traveling up his arms and entwined her fingers in his hair. To her dismay, his lips left her mouth, and began kissing her neck.
With a small moan, she titled her head back, inviting him to do as he pleased. Her fingers tightened over his dark tresses as she tried in vain to get him to kiss her again.
The two were so caught up in each other as the kiss grew more passionate, their minds completely blotted out what was happening around them.
Unknown to them, a lone figure stood near the edge of the scene, muted pink hair growing wet against her cheek, emerald green eyes widening in disbelief. That messy dark hair, that strong stance, those obsidian eyes. It can't be... is it?
"S-Sasuke-kun?"
Sasuke tore himself away at the sound of his name, revealing the other girl who had been hidden earlier from Sakura's vision. His eyes narrowed when he saw the person who spoke. The girl whose hand he gripped tightly had hair much more vibrant and pinker than the pale perriwinkle strands of her sister.
Sakura gasped at the pink-haired girl. "Saeka!"
Saeka smirked at her and wiped her sopping fuschia bangs out of her eyes. "Hey oneesan. Guess what? Sasuke-kun's back."
Sakura didn't know what to say. Her vision flitted from the cold stare that Sasuke was giving her, to her sister's triumphant look, to their hands clasped tightly. Her eyes filled up with tears. "Saeka... why?" She whispered, her voice sending out feelings of betrayal.
Haruno Saeka shrugged, her blue eyes holding no compassion.
Sasuke spoke for her, his icy look never leaving her face. "Because she's not you."
Ouch. Sakura choked back a sob upon hearing the insult.
Her younger sister smiled insincerely. "I'm sorry, Sakura. But I saw him first."
"No." Sakura wiped her eyes, anger and jealousy building inside of her. She glowered at the pair. "You're wrong, Saeka!" Turning to Sasuke, Sakura rushed forward to stand in front of him, matching his glare.
"Sasuke..." Sakura swallowed. Her gaze turned to the ground, uncomfortable in the wake of his stare.
The Uchiha heir narrowed his eyes. "Spit it out already."
Sakura glanced at Saeka, who crossed her arms impatiently.
"We don't have all day, neesan."
She swallowed again, struggling to hold back her tears. "Sasuke, I realize that you have no feelings for me." She looked straight into his dark unwavering eyes. "But I want you to know that--"
"I know Sakura."
Sakura gasped. "What?" It was no use. The tears leaked out and spilled down the sides of her face.
Sasuke turned away, grabbing Saeka's hand. "I already know that you love me. You told me before." And with that, he started to walk off.
Saeka didn't move. She stood staring at her sister, watching her cry. She finally gave in and left Sakura and her tears.
As they moved away from the weeping girl, a cry echoed from behind. "I love you, Sasuke, please remember that!!!"
Sasuke closed his eyes, tightening his grip on Saeka's hand. I already know, Sakura. I've known since the day I first met you. I'm sorry I never comforted you... I'm sorry...
"Sasuke? Are you okay?"
He turned to look at the girl next to him, concern showing through the blue in her eyes. She was much prettier than her sister, and a better sparring partner. And yet... Sasuke nodded, moving his gaze ahead of him. Although it seemed like he was concentrating on the road, his mind was swirling. He turned to look back one more time at Sakura, who had fallen to her knees crying.
Sasuke pulled Saeka closer, letting her lean against him.
I could have learned to love you. Just know that... Sakura.
