Summary: A spy from the Village of Sound is spotted and captured. She must now face the sadist himself, Morino Ibiki.
11:10 a.m
She, at the time, thought she was being careful.
She had stealthily entered the Village of the Hidden Leaf, completely undetected. She by-passed the guards, slipped into and out of the darkness with ease.
She was a pro in her village, ‘The Walking Shadow’ they called her. At least, those who were aware of her existence.
Even the Village of Sound, a place of secrets, had even deeper ones hidden beneath the myriad of mystery.
One can assume that because she was blended so easily was why she was so skilled.
She could easily sneak behind someone and cut their throat and fade into the background, only to leave behind confusion and destruction in her wake as she became part of the faceless crowd.
Now, a question one would ask themselves, why was ‘the Walking Shadow’ in the Village of the Hidden Leaf?
Perhaps to gather information…perhaps to confirm a target…anyone’s guess. No one would ever know.
Except of course, her employer.
This employer, an eccentric even questionable individual gave her this task with vague details, never truly revealing their intentions.
This task seemed below her abilities, perhaps even an insult on her otherwise superb repertoire. And yet…she was curious.
That single moment that she accepted, marked the beginning of the end for her.
‘The Walking Shadow’ had gotten cocky, because of her reputation. She assumed that because this seemed to be a Genin level mission, she would carry it out with ease.
She had gotten sloppy, despite her skills honed to ‘perfection’, a slightest shift of the foot led to her being captured.
The irony knew no limits. Espionage was supposedly her expertise.
Around that time, she was carefully hidden in the shadows, clad in all black. She saw a couple delinquent genin pass by, all giggling from their nighttime escapades. No matter.
She moved swiftly in the night, moving every so often, closing in on what she was sent to do.
There…her eyes scanned the open window, seeing the outline of a body as they lay in sleep. The breeze ruffled the curtains, and she could smell the fresh sheets of the bed.
A few more moments, and she could leave. Leave, and perhaps return another time, if successful.
She watched, shifted slightly, then…
BAM!
She felt her head jerk forward and she landed on the soft bed before her. Then all faded into black.
11:15 a.m
Two ANBU hovered over the unconscious person, studying what one of them had done. Blood spattered the white sheets, and the mask covering the persons face had shattered.
They saw the persons body twitch slightly, and the ANBU in the Cat Mask cringed beneath their masks.
In a moment of redundancy, he replied “I think I hit him a little TOO hard.”
His partner sighed exasperatedly, adjusting his Duck Mask.
“NAH, really?” said the ANBU with the Duck Mask, sarcasm dripping from his voice, “Ya clonked the guy on the head with a damned club! We were supposed to just subdue, not give him a damned concussion!”
“HEY! Fer all we know, the guy was about to assassinate someone!” said the ANBU with the Cat Mask, picking up the unconscious person.
He shivered slightly as he saw the persons eyes slightly open, and a small trickle of blood ran down their forehead as their head bobbed limply side-to-side.
“Didn’t you read the goddamned report!” the ANBU with the Duck Mask squawked, “The guy was just spying!”
“…oh…..really?” He really should have read that report.
“You’re such an idiot.” said the ANBU with the Duck Mask, rubbing his temples, “A simple pinch to a pressure point would have sufficed, BUT NO! You had to revert to Cro-Magnon, and club the guy! Ibiki is gonna have your balls, man. ”
“Don’t say that!” the ANBU with the Cat Mask whimpered, as the two of them jumped from building to building. “You know he scares me!”
“Hey. Ya should have thought about him before doing what you did.” the ANBU with the Duck Mask said, a smirk forming on his lips.
Oh, he was enjoying this. Teasing his partner over his extreme phobia of Ibiki was his favorite pastime. (‘Morinophobia’, he said in a sing-song voice in his mind.)
Besides, it was gonna be his ass too due to his partner’s incompetence. So, he may as well.
Ten minutes passed in silence.
The silence was broken when the ANBU in the Cat mask drew in a breath.
“You’re not gonna…” the other ANBU began timidly, “…t-tell him, are you?”
The ANBU with the Duck Mask sighed.
“……No.”
6:00 a.m
Morino Ibiki made his way down a flight of stairs, passing five ANBU.
He nodded at them, and they returned the social gesture, and went back to their posts.
He had been awoken an hour ago by nervous ANBU, telling him that a spy had been caught, ‘subdued’ (he noticed one of them had a sarcastic tone when saying it, but disregarded it as nothing), and taken into custody.
From what he was told about the situation, the spy had woken up, and hasn’t uttered a word. They had interrogated for him for three hours, even roughed him up a little bit.
Nothing. This person was obviously immune to ‘conventional’ interrogation methods.
Ibiki smirked to himself. He hadn’t interrogated anyone in a long while, much less….torture them. It was the proverbial itch that he needed to scratch.
As he approached the door, he felt himself filled with anticipation, his hands tingling as he reached for the door knob.
He stopped suddenly, muffled shouts (more than likely coming from the interrogator) and threats could be heard from the other side of the door.
A few moments later when the door opened, he noticed the frustration in the interrogators face. He was closely followed by an ANBU, who promptly shut the door behind him.
The interrogator seemed deep on thought, and only when Ibiki cleared his throat did he notice him.
“Morino-san.”
“I take it you weren’t able to get anything out of him?” Ibiki asked.
“Nah, not a thing. Still as silent as the moment he woke up,” the ANBU answered.
“I think he’s a masochist”, the interrogator chimed in, “Whenever I would hit him, he got a big grin on his face. Otherwise, he’s stoic.”
“I see…well, you did your part. You can leave now.”
Ibiki opened the door slightly, just enough for the light to shine upon his future victim.
There, a rather pretty young man sat, a trail of blood from his forehead contrasted his pale skin. His brown eyes were fixed elsewhere, and his face bore nothing.
A jolt of excitement filled Ibiki, and a sadistic curl of the lips made the ANBU stand aside quickly, the threat of soiling himself imminent.
With that, Ibiki entered the room, and shut the door.
6:03 a.m
The room itself was just four walls, two chairs, and a table. A flickering light hung overhead, and there was a presence of dampness. A distant dripping could be heard.
She looked up at the man, her face not changing from its expression.
He was very tall, muscular in build…scars all over his face. He wore a bandana and layers of clothes (‘probably to hide many other scars’ she thought to herself)
To most, a very intimidating man. She felt no fear. As a ninja, a kunoichi, she was never to fear death, or any other horrible fate that crossed her path.
She found it somewhat amusing that they haven’t realized that she’s a woman. She knew she was very androgynous, but for them not realize by this point was laughable.
The man stared at her, his dark eyes boring into hers.
A few moments passed, the two staring at each other impassively before he opened his mouth to speak.
“So…shall we begin?”
