Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Competition ❯ Prologue

This is not my first fanfiction, but this is my first on AFF. I'm not normally a yoai writer so please be patient with me!

 

This fic is dedicated solely to my little sister who just happens to not only be an amazing writer herself, but also my bestest friend!!

Introduction

 

Blood. There was so much blood.

 

The once beautiful and proud Amegakure no Sato slowly burned in flames, reducing its grand towers and stately homes to ash. Men, women, and children alike lay slain, the streets flowing with their blood.

 

A group of handpicked Anbu elite, gazed in horror at the sight before them. It was with a heavy spirit that Namikaze Minato led his squad to search for survivors. Minato was reluctant to inform the Sandaime of the failed rescue mission. Amegakure no Sato had helped Konoha in the past, making them a small but needed ally for the future. No, Sarutobi was not going to like this at all.

 

Paper bombs had been set up around the village to slow down anyone who might have been interested in helping the poor village. The bombs themselves would have been easy for Minato and his men to disable, but unfortunately many intricate jutsu were also put in place to thwart even the most skilled of ninja. No doubt alerted by one of the bombs going off, the men who ravaged the village were long gone and the inhabitants had all been killed. Minato and his men would have been able to save the small village if only they had arrived sooner!

 

The hidden village of rain had been a peaceful place. A few ninja served to guard the city, but for the most part, the village's men were of brain not brawn. They specialized in war equipment, strategies, and finding solutions to problems such as famine, sickness, and poverty. In fact, it was Konoha's alliance with this country that allowed for the treaty between Sand and Leaf to exist.

 

Minato was about to step over the severed arm of a man when a slender grungy hand grasped his ankle. Startled, Minato jumped slightly and looking down, took in the smeared and dirty face of a once beautiful woman. She was bleeding profusely from a wound from her right side, and he could immediately deduce from her loss of blood that she had only a few minutes before death overcame her.

 

He was about to swallow his guilt and leave her when she cried out desperately, “Please sir! I've kept him a secret for as long as I could.” Minato puzzled over the woman's words until he heard a soft cry of discontent coming from a pile of rags nearby. Arching a blonde brow at the woman, he reached over and unveiled a tiny baby boy, not more than a month old.

 

The infant bore a striking resemblance to his dying mother, as they both had the same dark violet eyes and odd silvery hair. Minato picked the baby up and brought him closer to the poor woman. She reached a shaky hand out to rub a fat little cheek, “Please kind sir, take care of my child. Raise him as your own and protect him from those who killed us to find him.”

 

Minato looked into the baby's curiously wise eyes and was about to protest when he noticed the woman's eyes begin to glaze over. With her last breath she managed to utter, “Raiko is destined to kill his father…he is the chosen one…among…our…people…” Minato nodded slowly to the now deceased woman and gently lowered her eyelids. There were so many questions he wanted to ask her. Who was she? Whose child was he holding? And most importantly…who would kill an entire village to find a single little boy?

 

A strong hand reached up to rub a tired forehead. Namikaze Minato looked down at the sleeping form of the infant cradled protectively in his arms. `How can this little boy be the source of so much bloodshed?'
