Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Concrete Angel ❯ Concrete Angel ( Chapter 1 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Okay, so this is sumthin I wrote for creative writing, but I decided to alter it for a naruto fic. It's a lil unusual and the main characters are Hanabi, Hinata and Sakura. I altered this so that Hanabi and Hinata are twins and really close and their best friend is Sakura. Song lyrics are in bold
DISCLAIMER:I do not own the song `concrete angel'. I do not own Naruto either. I do how ever, own everything else. Please review. flames welcome

“Hey Hinata. Are you okay?” Sakura asked as her best friend, once again zoned out.
“What?” Hinata asked, snapping back to reality. White met frustrated green and Sakura sighed.
“I asked you if you were alright. You haven't been yourself since Hanabi ....”
“You can say it if you want Sakura. Why shouldn't you?” Hinata asked, becoming hysterical. “The rest of the village is talking about it! Why shouldn't my best friend?”
“Hinata! Please stay calm. I didn't mean to...bring it up again. But if you don't talk to someone!” Hinata's eyes filled with tears.
“I know you didn't mean to bring it up Sakura. But you did!” Hinata turned and ran away, nearly sobbing. Sakura sighed and looked at the ground.
“I'm sorry Hinata.” She muttered to herself. “But it's been three months; you need to talk to someone.”
She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holding back

Hinata ran and didn't stop until she reached the beach. The waves were crashing along the sand and the roar of the sea calmed her. She stood for several minutes, allowing the peace to wash over her. She kicked off her shoes and dropped her school books. Her loose blue hair had grown to waist length and it whipped over her face from a wind, she ignored it. Hanabi, you always said that the sea cleanses the soul and mind. I've come here every day, why can't my mind be cleansed of you?
“Why do you remain Hanabi? Why won't you leave?” The sea continued to crash and the wind continued to blow, but neither gave an answer. Hinata walked slowly down towards the water. The tide washed up around her bare ankles and she hissed as the cuts stung.
“I see you at night.” Hinata continued to talk to the sea. Ignoring the pain in her ankles. “I can see you; you stand over me while I lie motionless. You cry and cry but do nothing else. Unless it's to say sorry.” The wind stilled and seamed to listen. Hinata waded her way deeper into water.
Wearing' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace

“You glow blue, like the sea. I know that you're here now Hanabi. You won't leave me alone and I don't know why!” Hinata's voice cracked and tears over took her. She fell to her knees with a splash, the water reached her chest and she stared into the water. “I want to know why you're still here Hanabi! Why do you keep apologising?! You've done nothing wrong! It wasn't you!” Hinata wrapped her arms around herself. “I still haven't told them Hanabi. Is that what you want me to do? You have to tell me! I'm not you Hanabi! I can't tell what you want!” Hinata shivered as a cool wind passed through her. “I can't tell Hanabi, you need to tell me!”
Hinata didn't notice that Sakura was standing at the edge of the water, watching her best friend sadly. There used to be three of us. Three that were down here and Hinata was never in the water. Why did that have to change?
The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
“Is it because I know?! Or just because you don't want it to happen to me? Hanabi you have to tell me!” Hinata screamed. “Please Hanabi! Don't keep doing this to me! It was hard enough when you left, but now you're coming back and it just makes it harder! I can't talk about it Hanabi! I just can't! I know I should, I should tell Sakura. But I'm scared Han, I'm not you.” Hinata moved into a sitting position and curled up into a ball as she sobbed. “I can't tell anyone Hanabi. You tried to tell and look what happened. I'm not you, I'm scared of death. I don't want to die.”
Sakura dropped her books next to Hinata's and took off her shoes before following Hinata into the waves. The water ran against her body and she shivered from the cold. Her school skirt was already soaked and her top was beginning to go transparent, revealing the black singlet all girls wore underneath.
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born

Hinata sobbed and shivered. She hadn't been in the water long, but it wasn't summer anymore and the Autumn breeze was cool.
“Please come back Hanabi. I can't stand being here by myself. You've always been here with me and now you're gone. I can't stand it. It hurts so much...please don't be gone Hanabi, it hurts too much...” Hinata broke off as another round of sobs racked her body.
Sakura stood not two feet away, watching painfully as her friend sobbed. God Hinata, this is where you've been coming...gods Hanabi. Why did you have to go? What happened? Sakura decided to make her presence known.
“Hinata?” Her friend started and slowly turned to face her. Her blue eyes were framed red from crying and nearly matched the blood red roses that grew in her garden.
“Sakura?” Hinata asked, wiping her eyes. “What are you doing here?” Sakura knelt down next to her friend.
“I am so sorry Hinata; I didn't know how much you were suffering. Why didn't you ever tell me?” Hinata barely shrugged and began to cry once more.
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
Tell her Hinata, now before your chance is gone.” The words seemed to float through the air towards the sobbing sixteen year old. Hinata looked up yet saw no one standing there.
“Hinata?” Sakura`s choked voice cut through her thoughts.
“Sakura, I need to tell you. I know what happened to Hanabi, Sakura. I know who it was.”
“Why didn't you tell me before Hinata?” Sakura's voice asked, full of shock and betrayal. Tears welled up in Hinata`s eyes once more.
“I don't know...I haven't told anyone. If I had then everything would have been different. I am so so sorry Sakura. I'm not strong like Hanabi, I don't want to be killed...I'm scared to die Sakura.”
“No ones going to hurt you Hinata. I swear it.” Hinata nodded and began to retell what had happened to Hanabi.
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
FLASHBACK
It was the beginning of summer. The sweltering heat had driven Hanabi to insanity.
“Hinata! Come on. It's not like he's ever going to know!”
“What about the others?” Hinata asked hesitantly. “If they see the cuts and bruises.”
“They won't!” Hanabi waved off her sisters' fear. “They never have before, they won't find out now! So are you coming or not?”
“I don't think so Hanabi, the beach is your place, not mine. I prefer the woods.”
“Okay. I'll tell the others you couldn't come, don't worry about it. Geez, you really need to lighten up Hinata. You're going to end up with wrinkles!” Hanabi laughed. Hinata forced a smile onto her face as Hanabi grabbed her back pack and climbed out the window. Her sister soon disappeared from sight and Hinata walked over to the mirror, she carefully began to apply make up, covering the bruises that marred her pale skin.

And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
“I should have made her stay. She shouldn't have gone. This is my fault. All of it is my fault!” Hinata said, choking on her words. Sakura frowned, causing more tears to form in her eyes.
“Shh... Hinata, it isn't your fault.” Sakura stated firmly. Hinata`s sobs began anew. Sakura hugged her distraught friend tightly.
“It is my fault Sakura. I could have stoped her! I should have!” Hinata managed to get these words through her sobs and Sakura sighed patiently.
“How is it your fault Hinata? What happened?” Hinata's sobs soon subsided and she sniffed back more tears.
“It's all my fault Sakura. I wouldn't let her tell anyone what was happening.” A cool wind blew through them and both girls shivered, the water level was rising and now reached their shoulders.
Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbours hear, but they turn out the lights
FLASHBACK
Hanabi snuck back in through the window. Her face was pale; she had seen her fathers' car out in the driveway, indicating with out a doubt that he was home. Her blue hair was still slightly wet and was bound back in a ponytail. Her white eyes scanned her surroundings and she saw no one. Not even her sister.
“Crap...” She muttered to herself, she dumped her bag on the bed and left her bedroom. She walked down the darkened hallway and met her fathers' murderous gaze.
“Hanabi ...you are in so much trouble.” Hanabi flicked on the light switch and saw Hinata lying behind her father. She was conscious but bleeding. Fresh cuts and bruises were covering her arms, legs and face. So caught up with her sisters' well being, Hanabi didn't even see the first punch coming. Her fathers' fist connected with her jaw and sent her sprawling back several feet. And so the punishment began.
END FLASHBACK
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late
“Then he panicked and dumped her body on the edge of town.” Hinata finished, her eyes were dull and lifeless. Tears ran freely down her face, yet she felt a little better. Sakura's mouth hung open in shock.
“Oh my god... Hinata ...I am so sorry. I should have noticed before!” Sakura's eyes were shining viciously, as if she was planning on killing the man who had caused Hinata and Hanabi so much pain. The man who didn't deserve to be called human. “God, that monster.” Sakura muttered, tears overtaking her vision. “How could he kill her like that?”
Hinata's crying turned into wails of despair and Sakura's heart clenched. She wished she had never known what had happened. It made the hurt ten times as powerful.
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
Hinata ... Sakura ...Oh god I'm so sorry...” The melody-like voice floated through their tears and both looked up to see someone familiar. Night blue hair, white eyes, but instead of the delightful gleam in her eyes, there were unshed tears, instead of the mischievous smirk, there was a sorrowful smile. She was still wearing the same clothes, dark blue jeans with a black top, but these weren't torn and her skin wasn't cut or bruised. Her hair was no longer a tangled mess and her eyes weren't glazed over and lifeless. There was no blood and she seemed to radiate a pale blue light.
“Hanabi ...” Sakura whispered. Hinata didn't utter a word. The girl seemed to stand on the top of the water and she smiled sadly before waving.
I have to go...I'm sorry. I'll see you when you get there...goodbye Hinata, Sakura.” She began to fade as she spoke and by the time her sentence was over, she was no longer there.
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
Hinata and Sakura stood in front of the marble rock. It had been one month since Hinata had testified against her father. Three months since she had begun to live with Sakura. Nine months since the incident on the beach. One year since Hanabi's torn and broken body was found in a ditch on the outskirts of the small town. One year since their world had been thrown out of orbit. Slowly Hinata knelt down in front of the angel that marked her sisters grave. She laid a rose, red as blood, in front of the inscription before standing and allowing Sakura to place her flower next to the rose. A daffodil, a symbol of hope. The hope that Hanabi always had and never lost. Sakura stood, brushed her rose hair out of her eyes and walked away from the grave. Hinata stayed a moment longer, lost in thought, before turning and following her best friend, casting a last look at her sister's grave.
Unbeknownst to them, a young girl stood next to the grave. Her dark blue hair made no movement in the breeze and her white eyes followed their departure. Pure white wings were folded behind her back, and the sun made them blindingly bright as she bent down to pick up the two flowers. Crystalline tears made their way down her face and she brushed them away before spreading her wings and flying away.
`Here lies Hanabi Hyuga
1988-2004
She loved all
And was loved by all
She will never be forgotten
May her soul
Rest on in our hearts.'
