Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Corrupted Society ❯ Discover the Enemy ( Chapter 2 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
A/N: I didn't mean for the first chapter to start out so dark and it probably should have been titled prologue but that didn't occur to me till now. This chapter has a bit more going and certain things will be answered.
Corrupted Society
Mission 2
Discover the Enemy

She pulled the trigger and two silver bullets came blasting out of the golden gun. It was her baby, her most prized position. It was practice time so she shot a few rounds off in there enclosed area. It was getting late and it would be time to meet the boss soon. Sakura was just practicing to take her mind off things and the day she had to endure. Nothing could be easy, was being left alone so hard? She pictured Ino on her dartboard and pulled the trigger and a bullet went straight threw her face. It might have been a weird stress reliever but it made her feel good seeing a hole through the head of that obnoxious blonde.
The basement where she practiced was muggy and dirty. The air was full of cigarette smoke and the ground covered in the ashes, a revolting habit that she never wanted to take part in. Sunlight never seemed to break the big walls; the place was so secretive filled with so much emotion. Maybe that was what built the wall that never seemed to break or crumble.
A tap on the shoulders alerted her that it was time for her meeting. Sakura pulled the goggles away from her eyes and turned around to be greeted by the head man. He always wore a black suit and was to be called Lutheran at all times though she knew that was not his real name. He greeted her with a nod and she bowed slightly. It was customary though made one feel degraded and not worthy.
He towered over her by a good foot and a half. His face was cleanly shaven, not as vile as all the others but nothing to brag about. He spoke in a burly voice as she followed him to the back where she would sit and wait for instructions. He offered her a seat which she gladly took not wanting to be rude. His office smelled of rotten fish and was so dark that she had to squint to see his face.
The office lacked any real color and needed a clean desperately. The ceiling was always creaking, making her nerves jumpy and once in awhile she could have sworn she heard a squeak squeak, and a pitter patter of tiny feet.
“I called you in here for a reason.” He said folding his hands into two and taking out some paper work, not wasting a minute to get down to the point. “There is another gang that is trying to interfere with some of my plans and there is a certain boy, one of the head leaders, and I have gotten wind that he will take part in this plot to destroy us, but without him they will be wounded and not be able to move forward.” He spoke in a pensive, tiresome voice as he related these facts to Sakura.
Sakura looked at him eyes full of curiosity. “And” she mumbled not sure where this was going. If he was at the top of the other gang what did he want her to do? Sakura never had much confidence and when she was put on pressure she occasionally choked.
“Well this boy is the clan leader's brother and goes to your school.” Her eyes almost bugled; there was another hit man besides herself going to the elite Konoha high school? “You know what I want you to do right?” He continued on ignoring her brief spasm.
“Take him out…” She replied softly and he continued “Well yes, but first you must follow him and get the location of there base and than kill him.” He said this and she could have sworn he smiled. It seemed to mean nothing to him that his hands stayed clean and she was the one getting wrapped up in this society.
“But sir why wouldn't you put one of your elite on the case I mean he is a talented shooter and…” Sakura could have continued on but he broke her by saying that she was part of the elite and she was closest to the enemy with school and all. She would have to catch him off guard.
Sakura nodded and began to get up but as she left he said one last thing “If you help me take down this Clan Sakura I will make you the happiest girl ever, living in riches right next to me.” She reframed from snorting. There was something else some other motive up his sleeve. `They want to destroy this other gang for what?' Sakura said good night and walked up the staircase into her room and locked the door. He had tossed her a folder with pictures of the enemy and information. It had aroused her curiosity that there was another person similar to her and so close. But also her mind waned at the fact that something was going on with the other gang and she did not want to start a war with anyone.
The manila folder read top secret and she delicately opened it up. A picture came fluttering out into her lap. She sat Indian style on the old carpet which once was white, now very off. She stared at it for a couple seconds and than realized it was that same boy she bumped into in the morning, the one with the black aurora coming off of him. `He's a hit man?' She couldn't exactly believe it. He was the quarter back for the foot ball team; all the girls loved him and drooled over him. He was just too popular to be caught up in this. `No there must be a mistake.'
“Uhicha Sasuke” she mumbled and blinked, for darkness finally seemed to consume her and sent her into dreamland.
-
Nothing changed the next morning except that her mind was now diverted off and in full focus on a certain black haired boy. It didn't add up right. She was forced to quick the track team because of this secret but him, no. Her lips were pressed together and on full attention of the new assignment. People would wonder what happened to him when she took him out. He wouldn't be as easy to kill, she reckoned because unlike most clients she dealt with, this one had many people to back him up. She nervously chewed on the bottom of her lip, slowly getting lost in her thoughts.
Sakura that morning purposely awoke earlier than normal to go investigate. Most clubs had practice in the morning so she would belike every other girl and go watch Sasuke, the heartthrob, do some morning exercising.
There had been no recent snowfall and the air was getting a bit warmer though still bitter. She blew some in and out of her mouth and could see it was still below freezing. How anyone could stand to stay outside and exercise or watch someone she could not understand.
The field when she got there wasn't as crowded as she expected. There were actually very few people. There were a couple girls, though mostly cheerleaders practicing there routine and the boys doing laps around the track. She had no idea what she would be able to accomplish but there had to be some clues about this supposed hit man though in her eyes he looked more like a pig headed sissy man.
A few people turned to stare at her as she approached the stand where she would sit calmly and watch them have their fun. The chasing part was always much more fun than the kill and at least this time she didn't get an ugly one. Thank god for small favors. Some of the guys jogging turned to look at her as she sat on the first bleacher which was used for events that she never partaken in. She was equipped with a pad and pen and waited to jot down some notes about the enemy.
-
“Sasuke do you see that girl sitting on the bleacher, isn't she hot?” A blonde haired boy said with a grin, checking Sakura out as he jogged by. Sasuke on the other hand ignored it and paid no attention to what most of the guys were ogling about. His eyes were solely glued to the ground. All women in his eyes were the same, annoying, self centered brats, but he was an ignorant man himself.
Sakura at the moment paid no mind to the attention she was getting. Boys paying attention to her was not unusual but she blew it off and that was why she was known as the ice queen, or the constant rumors that were spread by Ino about her which were probably derogative. Girls were too vicious, that was why she never got involved with them. They played too dirty.
Naruto kept jabbing Sasuke in the arm to look at her. Unlike Sasuke, he was not smart and most of his time was spent in detention hall and when it wasn't it was in the lowest ranking classroom shunned by every other. Seeing a girl was a rarity for Naruto. The only reason he got into the school was because he was close friends with the dean. If he had his way he wouldn't even be in school but stubborn Iruka made him.
“Sasuke, Sasuke, Sasuke” Naruto kept poking him waiting till he got a reaction. Naruto was one of the few that could actually put up with Sasuke and his twenty four hour bad mood. A smile never seemed to grace his lips. Finally when he did glance in the direction he saw the figure though walking to the gate now, pink hair flowing freely behind her. He immediately recognized her. There was something very odd about her that made him wonder.
“You like what you see Sasuke?” Naruto grinned again but received a menacing look and a smack behind the head.
“Dobe...” he mumbled and headed straight for the locker room, the blonde hair boy chasing after him.
-
The day passed by rather uneventful and when the final bell rang Sakura bolted up and out of her seat but quickly remembered that she had a mission to deal with. So she slinked to her locker and than tried to locate her target but was stopped.
“Hey there” Naruto throughout the day tried to work up the courage to talk to his new found beauty and just his luck that fate guided her to his direction. She glanced upward to see a blonde boy grinning uncontrollably at her. A bit confused and disorientated she nodded back. “So um I was wondering.”
`Don't blow it Naruto, don't mess up.' His mind kept repeating but before he could even ask her out, she slid past him and out the door. “Hey where'd she go?” He turned around and saw the door was slowly closing shut so he burst right out of it. He at least wanted to get her name. His head turned in many directions and caught a glimpse of pink hiding behind a tree and started moving forward.
Sakura hid waiting for the cost to clear. `Is this guy after me?' She wondered and than heard the blonde haired boy shout, `I'm coming.' No one tried to talk to her this much ever, she usually snubbed them every time and than was usually ignored from than on but this guy made her nervous at first and now was running after her.
“Don't come any closer, don't make me break out my…”
“But I like you” He yelled from a distance.
“Gun.” She mumbled and looked at him stupefied. He was the creepiest secret admirer she had ever encountered. So she quickly slipped away from her hiding spot not knowing what to do for she had never encountered someone so forward. But before he got any closer a voice called him.
“Naruto leave her be.” It was her target, her enemy, Sasuke. She glared at him but secretively was relieved that he saved her from the blonde kid. He looked back one more time at her while dragging his friend to the field.
“Don't worry my pink haired goddess I'll come back for you.” He yelled but was given a swift quick to the gut by his friend. The boy might interfere with her plans she thought but shook her head. It was time to commence the stalking session.
-
He did nothing irregular she noted. After practice he walked to the quickie mart and picked up bottled water and than lazily strode around the city. Her feet began to ache from her heals and just when she began to loose hope he turned down a different block. Now years of experience made her cautious and slow the pace down. She had to be quite a few feet behind so he did not notice her. There company was probably very acute on hearing any trespassers but as long as she got the location she was in a go.
After she felt he was a good hundred feet ahead of her she began walking, the sun slowly setting in the back round, as darkness was engulfing it. She approached and saw a large building that he was entering. Unlike her base which was a warehouse, this place was very unsuspecting making each step of hers very cautious. She took out her binoculars and could see two men speaking to Sasuke and guarding the area. It was not going to be as easy as she first imagined and now there was no question in her mind that he was doing some form of undercover work.
Shooting them from a distance would cause too much commotion. Another fact lingered in her mind was that she was told just to find out where there headquarters was located, not to infiltrate but than again Sakura was never one to followed orders.
There was something else going on behind her back and she was going to crack down upon it and so she jogged forward now entering enemy territories.

A/N: I tried to make it a bit lighter and now we are clear that both of them are hit men of some sort. Next chapter we get to see Sakura in full action. Its called Kill the Fear with Pain and should be out Friday I believe. Till then, ciao.
