Luna: ANYWAY, this is based off Utada Hikaru's song “Devil Inside” and an idea that now popped into my head. It was inspired by a ItachiSasuke fanfic and my love of SasuNaru..

NOW, onto the story!
Sasuke lurched forward, hands on his head as he replayed the scene of his parents dead on the floor, his brother over them with an unreadable expression on his face. Sasuke was eight, it only being a day after the incident. He had run away, dodging the ninjas sent after him. His mind was caving in on him and causing him to go insane. He was still slightly sane, but was reaching the edge of his humanity.
“NOOOO! Please, no, don't-don't be ...dead...” Sasuke screamed, his heart breaking again and again. He had loved his older brother, his mother, adored his father. His other relatives were always cheering him on...
“Poor boy,” a voice said in the back of his mind. Sasuke was running again, going farther and farther away from the chaos that started at Konoha.
“You just need to let go, don't you? Just need someone to protect you? To help you through the pandemonium that is now your life...” The voice chuckled as Sasuke lied down, curling into a ball and crying again.
“I'll help you...” the voice suddenly was loud and demanding, making Sasuke cry out as a pain shot through him. Purple eyes blinked at the sky before he fell unconscious...

Sasuke glared at his team, annoyed that they didn't have a mission today. Sasuke had returned from Orochimaru after four years, coming back with his heart in a bag and blood all over him. He had wiped out as many of Orochimaru's minions as he could before leaving for Konoha. He explained to Tsunade what he did and she let him in with a year of minor things and passing trust tests, etc. They had his seal sealed, but he broke it and Orochimaru's control over his body and chakra was broken along with it. Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, and Iruka all questioned him until he almost exploded, but Naruto was the one who hugged him and said he missed him. That was start of the weirdest family Sasuke ever had. He got to really know them all, mostly Naruto, who he trained with and hung out with the most. Sakura had given up on him, but his fan girls hadn't, which annoyed him to no end. Sakura was with Lee, Gaara and Neiji had a secret relationship, and Kakashi was with Iruka, who was too shy to let Kakashi announce to the world that they were lovers. Shikamaru, Chouji, Ten Ten, Temari, and Shino were all still friends with Sasuke and they all went out together when they could. Missions were a breeze because they stayed with their teams and did team training once in a while too. Akatsuki was still at large, but Sasuke didn't fear them, nor want to avenge his family like a maniac. He knows that Naruto can take care of himself and he'd be there with the blond when they tried to take him. He'd take his revenge when the opportunity arises. For now, he'd enjoy his life.
“Sasuke, let's get some ramen!! You pay, teme?” Naruto grinned, causing Sasuke to sigh and agree. Sakura watched them, smiling slightly. They were like brothers to her and she loved spending time with them.
“Can I come too, guys?” Sakura asked, earning her an annoyed look that she just chuckled at. Naruto nodded and grabbed both of them, pulling them off.

The Next Day

Team Seven again met up at the ridge, Naruto being first this time. He fidgeted, messing with his hands before he noticed Sasuke come, a look of boredom on his face. Naruto smiled, which turned into a full blown grin as Sasuke narrowed his eyes at him.
“What are you up to, dobe?” the raven-haired asked suspiciously as the blond took his own smirk.
“Nothing, Sasuke...Just wanted to say I'll always be here for ya...” He let his smirk turn into a genuine smile as Sakura ran up behind him.
Sasuke grunted in reply, his mind currently in a turmoil. -He'll be here for me? Unlike all of the others, he's different, so different that it's hard to keep up...-
-Don't let this blond fool you, Sasuke. He just wants to use you like all the others...-
Sasuke shook his head before thinking -I don't need you to show me what's wrong and right. I can think for myself, thank you...- Then he shut the voice off, his eyes hard as Kakashi appeared, only thirty minutes late.
“Okay, we've got a mission to do today, so let's get going, ya?” Kakashi smiled while pulling out there mission description. Handing it to Sasuke, Kakashi leaned in and whispered, “Your chance has come. Just wait a little longer and you revenge will be fulfilled...Be careful, Sasuke...” Then he smiled, his eyes scrunching up as he turned to Sakura and Naruto, who were arguing over what the mission had to be.
“It's got to be a -A- rank mission!! Believe it!!!” Naruto posed in the good guy pose, grinning as she gave up.
“I still think it'll probably be only a -B- rank at the most...” She sulked as Kakashi ruffled the blond hair, getting an annoyed growl.
“You guys are both right in a way. It was ranked between -B- and -A- because there are two parts of it. Sasuke and Naruto will being doing one and Sakura, Iruka and I will be doing the other...”
“Iruka?? Iruka's coming?!?!” Naruto asked, looking up at his sensei. As if he was called, Iruka showed up, a scowl on his face as he stuffed a piece of paper in his pocket. Kakashi grinned as Naruto yelled and jumped on the scarred man.
“Naruto! How are you?” He managed to say while being squished into a bear hug. Naruto pulled back, grin in place.
“I'm great Iruka-sensei...I mean, Iruka-san...” He smiled sheepishly as Sakura hit Kakashi, who had been about to pull out his perverted book, Icha Icha Paradise Gay Version. Sasuke was watching all of this with a frown on his face as he glanced at the paper again.
Sasuke,
Don't be rash and think things through when you go on this mission. I'm only giving this to you because I believe in you and Naruto will accompany you, of course...

Sasuke looked up to see all eyes on him, which startled him enough to do his Uchiha calm mask, so he just raised an eyebrow questioningly. “Are we going, or what?”
That brought everyone out of their reverie to at least look somewhat sheepish as Sasuke led the way to the gate. Naruto watched Sasuke with a weird look on his face until Kakashi caught him looking and nudged him suggestively.
“Hmm, Naruto likes the “Dark One” here? When did this happen?” Naruto blushed as he finally took his eyes off Sasuke to look down at his feet.
“I-I don't know when really... Maybe since I met him. I always thought he was cool...” The blush deepened as Sasuke scoffed at something Sakura told him. Iruka was laughing at both of the chunin as they passed through the gates.
Sasuke stared ahead, his eyes slightly glazed as he thought over the mission again and again. The whole mission was in two parts: one where Kakashi, Sakura, Iruka would be going on an escort mission, escorting the Sand Ninja, Gaara Subaku, though why he needed escorting was beyond them. But they would also being picking up two more along the way, the princess of the village hidden in the waves and the prince of the village hidden in the mist. The prince was a little older than them named Hotoshi Gentuji of the Gentuji Empire. The girl was younger than them, her name being Hiromi Tasuki of the Tasuki Empire. The three were making arrangements to have a treaty between the village and because the village hidden in the leaves is allies to all three they were wanted the leaf ninjas to escort them.
The second part was where Sasuke and Naruto would be going to the village hidden in the wind, where they were to meet up with a famous scroll man who was to give them a scroll that the Akatsuki were after. Sasuke and Naruto were to return with it, but if they came across members of the Akatsuki they were to eliminate them.
“SASUKE!” Naruto yelled, finally getting his attention as they jumped through the trees towards the village hidden in the sand.
“What, dobe?” Sasuke looked at him with a smirk as Naruto huffed.
“Well, you were all dazed looking and I thought you were going to hit a tree a few times...” Naruto humphed as Sasuke's smirk widened.
“Like you're about to do, hmm?” Sasuke smiled as Naruto gave him a confused look before smacking into a tree. Before the kyuubi holder could fall, the Uchiha grabbed him, pulling the unconscious blond against his chest and muttering fondly, “Dobe...”.
Kakashi, Iruka, and even Sakura watched this with broad smiles, all saying along the lines of “About time...” even though Kakashi said “I hope they have sex soon so I can listen in on them...” where he the got two huge bumps on his head for it.
Sasuke was looking around them, holding “the dobe” protectively as he narrowed his eyes. Then he started jumping through the trees again as Kakashi took the lead.
“Okay guys, it's about noon so we should stop and take a rest. Naruto looks to be out for a while... We'll take a two-hour break and eat, relax etc...” Kakashi looked around spotting a small clearing surrounded by willow trees. Landing in it, he smiled and nodded approvingly. Iruka landed next to him and gave it a look of satisfaction.
“Ok team, Sakura and Iruka will start up food while I get water and Sasuke gets some wood. Just put Naruto down and tend to him when you get back...” Kakashi smiled and disappeared in a puff of smoke. Iruka and Sakura started to discuss what would be best for dinner as Sasuke carefully put Naruto down and sighed as he straightened up. He walked quickly into the surrounding forest, out of view in a second.

Sasuke wiped the sweat away from his eyes, letting out a huff of breath. Muttering about stupid blonds, the raven-haired boy started toward their camp, thinking of his Kyuubi holder teammate.
-Naruto...He's such a dobe, always failing, too optimistic, forever dreaming...-
-He'll only bring you down, Sasuke...- A voice called out, making Sasuke stop.-No, Naruto has always been there for me when I was going to fall. He's my best friend and I'm...proud that he is...He might be a dobe, but he's my dobe. He'll always try again and he won't give up. And those foolish dreams are what make him unique...-
Sasuke started walking again before he was bombarded by the voice.

Next Chapter:

Sasuke begins to see the love he has for his team mate and he starts to show his feelings. But something that they didn't see is coming to break apart this new relationship... But what?
