Devotion's Single Cry

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in the entire world is more grateful for your kindness than mine.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, though I would reach for your hand between blows, your patence and understanding will more quickly teach me things you want me to learn.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the the world's sweetest music, as you can tell by the honesty in my smile as your voice echoes in my mind.

Please let me stay beside you though the cold and wet times. I ask for no greater glory than thr privlage of staying at your side.

Please allow me clean food and water, so that I can stay well to do your bidding and walk by your side and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, my friend, when I am old and no longer enjoy good health, keen hearing, and far sight, do not make any heroic efforts to keep me going. Please see that my life is taken from me gently. I shall leave this earth knowing that the last breath I draw and that my fate is safest in your hands.

Note- THis was a poem by an unkown author entitle "A Dog's Plea". Since I read it I altered it to Haku's point of veiw. (And made it not sound like Haku is a dog...)
