His eyes are closed as he gets the first peaceful sleep he's had in a long time. He's so calm, his steady breath evidence of his trust in me. I reach up with one hand and brush a few blood red strands of hair out of the way of his beautiful face, and lightly kiss the tattoo on his forehead.

“Nnnn~” he groans, opening his eyes groggily.

“I'm sorry, love. Go back to sleep.” I whisper, caressing his cheek, and planting a sweet kiss on his lips. He leans into the touch, moving closer to me. I break the kiss, gazing into his beautiful jade eyes as he looks lovingly into my own cerulean eyes.

“He tries to brush his bangs out of his face, but they just fall back, determined. “My hair's too long…” he mumbles, tugging on his beautiful red bangs.

“I know better than to try coaxing him back to sleep now, so I decide to tease him a bit. “Wow, way to kill a mood.” I reply jokingly.

“It's not my fault!” he protests, “You just woke me up!...Besides, it's true…I need to cut it…”

“Aw~ why? I like it like this…it's cute.” I say.

Right on cue he turns a shade of red that almost matches his hair. “Naruto~” he whines, suddenly unable to look me in the eye.

“Gaara~” I counter, saying his name in the same whiney tone as he said mine. “You are cute, and there's nothing wrong with showing that.” I lower my face again, capturing his lips with my own.

I want to tell him I love him, but we've both seen those words thrown around too easily-thrown at us, and around us. They are meaningless anymore. So, insteadI break the kiss again, and pull him even closer to me. “Don't leave me Gaara.”

He instantly understands, “I'll never leave you, Naruto.” Exhaustion finally took him over again, and he fell asleep in my arms, burying his face in my chest.

My redhead. My green-eyed beauty. My boyfriend. My Gaara. He won't leave, and neither will I.
