Prologue: Mirrors Image
!.................!
She watched her reflection with a distant curiosity. Her movements seemed ethereal and foreign even to her, the owner of the body. She didn’t even recognize herself when her eyes met with her mirrors image. She had changed, that much was plainly obvious, but she didn’t care.
Eyes that were once full of life of happiness had been replaced by more suitable ones for her role in the world. They orbs that stared back at her now were glazed over and bloodshot, cold and hollow, with the telltale black rings of sleepless nights. Her face was drained of all color giving her skin a transparent, haunted, look. Her lips dry and cracked from the harsh elements beyond the four walls of her prison.
The prison she created. The prison she built with her own two hands.
If the young kunoichi looked hard enough she could still see a shadow of who she use to be. A fragment of her former self that always seemed to linger just below the surface, waiting for the opportune moment to make her grand reappearance. A shadow that constantly followed her, a shadow that would no be tolerated.
She hated what she had become, but even more she hated what she use to be.
She was an ignorant little girl with no true purpose or goal in life than to please others. She strived to make sure those around her were happy even when it tore her apart from the inside. She wasn’t that girl anymore. Her hands that were once gentle and innocent were now soaked in the blood of hundreds, her eyes that were once sheltered had seen horrors in life that should never be spoken of, her heart that was once tender and caring was now no more than another organ that kept her alive.
She was a traitor, hated by everyone, the whole damned world was her enemy. They hunted her. One would think after 5 years of failed attempts and countless shinobi murdered by her hands they would just give up and let her live her life out in peace. Then again this was a hidden village and they always seemed to hold grudges for far too long.
Pulling out of her musings she focused on her image once again before sighing. It was no use, no matter what she did she always seemed to look half dead these days. Not that it was a bad thing, people tended to avoid her because of it allowing her to pass through villages and whatnot without being harassed too much. Some people still commented on her beauty, which, no matter what, still seemed to shine through her cold exterior.
Not that she minded, after all a girl does have needs.
The kunoichi closed her eyes and immediately regretted it as horrifying images flooded her vision. Another bad thing about her new lifestyle: the nightmares. They were what prevented her from sleeping, and when she finally did give in to her body’s natural need they would make writhe and scream in her sleep. Every morning she would wake up with tears flowing from her eyes and it would take hours to calm her nerves. So naturally she slept as little as she could get away with without collapsing.
She had never wanted to kill any of those people. She had begged them to leave her be from the very beginning but they just kept insisting that she carried secrets far to valuable to be left to roam the continent. She had warned them over and over about the consequences but they refused to go turn around. In the end her body had acted on its own instinct to live and took their lives. It wasn’t a neat process either; the gore still made her stomach churn to this day.
The kunoichi scowled.
Here she was, a young, beautiful, talented woman with a deadly reputation getting queasy over a little blood, guts and a few random body parts. Ha, and she called herself a medic-nin! That wasn’t what bothered her the most though. What really upset her was that, after all this time, they were right: she did contain valuable hidden village secrets and they had the right to try to stop her.
But it wasn’t her fault, she had to leave that village before she went insane. She was standing on the brink when she left, maybe that’s why she left. A girl could only take so much verbal and emotional abuse before she just had to get out. She remembered thinking that they had hurt her for the final time as the tears carelessly rolled down her cheeks. Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi-sensei, they all had their share of fun torturing her in their own wicked ways. Sometimes she wondered if they even realized how much they hurt her, but decided it wasn’t worth thinking about. The damage was done, and with the help of some strange, but not unwelcome, friends she had made her escape.
With the help of her ‘friends’ she was unstoppable.
She was invincible.
She was ‘The Immortal’.
A half-crazed grin split her face.
She was Haruno Sakura.
!.................!
Ending Notes: alright before you all get your panties up in a bunch I will explain within the next few chapters what happened to our sweet little pink hair kunoichi to make her snap the way she did. Also im not intending at the current moment to make team 7 into evil people so you can put the tomatoes away. AND no worries Sakura isn’t invincible, just insanely strong like Gaara, Naruto, or Sasuke.... don’t worry my prettys everything will be explained in due time....
REVIEW... thankies!
