Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Drowning Waterfalls ❯ Dreaming ( Chapter 2 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

A/N: My other chapter was introducing you into the story. If you're reading this I'm so glad you're still reading, which means I'm not writing this just for myself. By the way it's not going to be just Maya and Kiba's P.O.V. I'm going to do other peoples also, like Naruto, Hinata, Sasuke etc… That is when the time comes so please be patient. I'll probably do a generalized chapter focusing on everyone's thoughts…we'll see about that though. Anyway enjoy the chapter =]

“Talking”
`Thinking'
(Inner Sakura)

Maya's P.O.V.

`Why does my head hurt so bad?' I rubbed my head trying to soothe the pain.

Once the pain faded away, I sat up and slowly opened my eyes. I froze for a moment when I started to take in my environment. I was stunned to find that I was back in my home village.

Something was wrong.

There were no flames, no screams, and the smell of burnt wood was replaced by soft scents of plants and fruit. Everyone was going about their day as if nothing had happened. I rubbed my eyes as if it would rid me of this hallucination.

This could not be right.

A kid ran by me with a wallet, with a rather large man chasing him. “Stop that kid!”

`What the heck is happening?'

I stood up and started walking around. As I was walking, I felt as if all eyes were on me. I stopped to look around and found that everyone was looking at me in disgust. I began to walk once more. I kept my head low and started to pick up my pace.

All I could hear were the whispers of the villagers. The only words that audible were “death”, “Wench”, and “Disappointment”. As I got closer to my home the whispers began to fade, but their words echoed in my mind.

I saw my home in the distance and began to run.

Once there, I quickly opened the door and walked in. Before I was completely in my home I felt a strong emotion that I could not identify at the moment.

My body froze near the doorway. I looked down slowly since I felt a warm, thick liquid under my foot.

I stared.

I stared at the blood on the floor for well over a moment. I turned away from the blood and began to check my body for any opened wounds.

Looking back on it, it was probably a silly thing to do. I would have noticed blood at some point walking here.

`Whose blood could this be?'

I searched my house to see if I could find the source of the blood. I checked the nearby rooms and continued to search further into my house. I paused when I heard whimpers coming from my bedroom. I opened the door and found my mother kneeling next to my bed.

I could not see her face since her folded arms covered her face. As I drew near, her whimpers became louder and louder.

“Why Kami? Why did I have such a horrible child?” mother said getting up slowly. She turned towards me with her head down. I still could not see her face.

“Why Maya?” There was a pause that left me to think about what exactly was she asking.

“Why couldn't you be like your cousins and be normal?” I saw her tears hit the floors. “Why did you have to be so different?”

I opened my mouth to speak “B-But you always said.

“-Don't you dare tell me what I said!” I took a step back surprised that my mother had actually yelled at me.

Mother began to walk towards me. Her body was shaking almost unnaturally, but she continued to walk.

She abruptly stopped a few feet away from me. She slowly lifted her head to finally reveal her face. Even with her eyes were closed I could tell she was looking at me.

It was evident that she had been crying. I took a closer look at her face and saw that it was distorted with burns that covered her cheeks and neck.

“…Mother” I sighed. I was about to take a step forward.

“You left me behind Maya…” I looked at her in shock.

“You were the one who told me to leave!” I was getting frustrated. Everything was just so confusing at this point.

Mother started laughing; she opened her mouth to speak. Her voice had changed; it was slightly deeper and somehow familiar.

“Is that any way to talk to your mother?” she opened her eyes to reveal red ones. I turned to run away but she was standing appeared behind me.

“Going somewhere?” I turned to run the other way but was stopped. I felt a sharp pain in my chest. Mother looked down at me in the most condescending way.

“You were always weak Maya, you were a disappointment since the day I gave birth to you.” She dug the knife deeper into my chest, without any hesitation. I looked at my mother and saw that she was enjoying watching me suffer.

I put my hand over hers, and peeled the dagger out of my chest. Blood began to pour out of my wound. I fell to the ground not being able to hold my weight up any longer. I held the dagger loosely in hand.

“Why?” I asked. It was the only word I can manage with the amount of filling my mouth. I could taste it as it came up slowly from the back of my throat.

The metallic smell present as I tried to get myself to breathe deep. I felt as though my lungs were given in.

I then realized that my mother had punctured my lung. I was becoming frantic with that knowledge. She pulled me by my hair and ordered me to look her into her eyes.

“Heal yourself!” she stared intensely.

I lifted my hand and hovered it over my chest; I closed my eyes to focus my chakra into my wound. My hand had started glowing green, but there was no sign that my chakra was healing it, I didn't feel any warmth. I didn't feel like it was doing anything at all.

`Please…work…just this one time!'

“You can't? Oh that's too bad!” She leaned down and grabbed me by my wrist painfully hard.

She started twisting me wrist slowly. She held enough force to make me scream.

“If you can't heal anything.” She began.

“Then why do you need this?” With the slightest movement, she had broken my wrist.

I screamed as the unbearable pain surged up my arm. Streams of tears were falling out of my eyes. I looked in horror at my wrist. The disfigurement was apparent. I squeezed my eyes shut, forcing the rest of the tears that were brimming in my eyes to fall.

I tried to take deep breaths.

I did not want to panic.

I knew that's probably what she wanted. She would enjoy watching me wallow in my pain as I beg for mercy. `What happened to mother? What would make her treat me like this?'

My breaths were labored, the room started spinning. No doubt because of the blood loss. I delayed the process by not panicking. Panicking would only would've made the blood pump faster.

I opened my eyes to look at my mother as she sat next to me smiling menacingly, “I should've killed you sooner.”

I looked at her face; my vision was starting to go. Her face was changing into what looked like a man, with red eyes. I've seen those red eyes before… but where?

I closed my eyes seeing, or rather not seeing as my vision went completely black. Who had I ever seen with red eyes?

Flashes popped into my head of my last moments before losing consciousness.

“Itachi!”

I sat sitting up and started looking around.

I was back in the village. I looked around it was the same village. No damage what so ever.

`Was it a dream?'

I could see that my hand was no longer broken and my breathing was perfectly fine.

A kid ran by me with a wallet, with a rather large man chasing him. “Stop that kid!”

Then it hit me; `I'm stuck in my worst nightmare.'

Kiba's P.O.V.

After I awoke I stayed lying on the ground relaxing, I took in all the scents around me like the morning dew on all the grass petals on the ground. I could hear them swaying side by side rubbing against each other in collision, as the wind blew at them with a gentle breeze. The breeze brushed against my skin causing goose bumps.

Now that I'm done being one with nature, I'd thought it'd be about time to get going.

I got up and patted down my body to get rid of dirt that may have matted to my skin and clothes while I slept.

I looked about to see Shino hiding our fire, to leave no trace that we were here.

Akamaru was next to Hinata watching her as she soothed the girl's pain, with the glow of the white chakra coming from her hand.

“We will eat energy bars until we get to the village, don't stop unless absolutely necessary. I'll scout ahead 100 meters, rendezvous with me in no more than 5 minutes.” Shino started sprinting forward.

I walked over to Hinata “Are you done?” Hinata looked up at me.

“Yes s-she's worse than she was last night…” The girl was sweating more than she was when we went to bed. Her breath was shallow, like she was struggling to breathe.

You could see blood trickling out of her mouth. Hinata wiped it away with a cloth that was in hand.

“We need to hurry then.” I tried to sound comforting to Hinata.

I could tell this girl's condition was bothering Hinata. We haven't seen anything like it before, so it as puzzling to not only her but to all of us.

I leaned down to her and picked her up and placed her on my back.

“Let's head out!” Hinata led the way with Akamaru and I behind her. Shortly after we met up with Shino, he led the way back to the village.

As we sprinted I couldn't help but notice the sun peering through the trees; it was a golden purple. Something that people could only wish, they could paint but can't.

`There's nothing more beautiful than nature undisturbed'.

`We've been running for hours!' I can't believe we had to stop our mission because of some chick.

I can't blame her though she can't help the situation she was in. `Focus Kiba. You're on a mission you can't screw up.'

I calmed down and attempted to clear my thoughts and focused on my senses. I could smell the fresh scent of pine with each wisp of wind, that and…blood?

I looked behind me to see blood coming out of her mouth again. Her brows are furrowed in frustration.

`What could be going on in that head of yours'.

I could hear her faint breathing, I don't know how long she's going to last.

“About another hour till we reach the village!”

Hinata slowed her pace to fall back toward my side.

“K-Kiba?” I looked at her from the corner of my eye “Yes?”

“A-Are you going t-to go to the hospital and s-see what's wrong with her?” Her eyes seemed like they were pleading almost.

“Are you?” I wouldn't know why I would; I have no ties to this girl. She's just a piece of information for the village. But I can't say that to Hinata she'll think I'm an asshole.

“Y-Yes, but…” a blush brushed her cheeks “I d-don't want to go alone.”

“You want me to go…with you?” She just nodded and turned away. I really wasn't sure what to make of it. I knew she was worried for the girl but not that much.

“I'll keep you company Hinata, but don't worry she'll be fine” Although I know I probably don't believe that myself, but there's always hope. For her sake and Hinata's, but I have faith.

Hinata smiled at me “Thank you Kiba-kun!”

She ran back into her place in front of me, as we continued on our way to the village.

After a while of more running I could see the village gates in the clearing. It looked like late afternoon just the time Shino said we'd arrive.

“Head straight for the hospital you two, I'll go to Tsunade about the matter at hand” he sprinted off toward the Hokage tower.

“Akamaru head home I can handle this” Akamaru nodded and ran off toward his home. We all split up our separate ways.

Hinata and I went to the hospital.

We busted through the door and explained the situation to nurse at the front desk, she picked up the phone and called for an emergency examination.

Two nurses came with a bed on wheels, and in a minute Sakura was at the girl's side examining her.

“How did she get this way?” Sakura said not bothering to look up at us.

“When we found her Itachi had just left” As soon as the name “Itachi” left my mouth Sakura automatically stiffened.

“That will be all, I'll send someone to your homes to report to you on her condition.” Sakura said pushing her bed into the hallway until I couldn't see it anymore.

I looked over at Hinata, who looked worried. “Hey, what did I tell you…she's going to be fine. Look I'll walk you home.” She just simply nodded.

We left the hospital and started walking to Hinata's house in an awkward silence. But it went by rather fast, next thing I knew, we were at her front gate.

“When they send word I'll meet you at the hospital k?”

“Thank you Kiba-kun” she bowed and left behind the gates of the Hyuga Estate.

`I better get home before Hana yells at me'

Sakura's P.O.V.

I healed all her cuts and bruises, but there is something strange about this girl's case. No matter how many times I heal her lungs her breath returns to shallow within five minutes later.

(When I find you Itachi! I will show no mercy!)

This was getting too frustrating for me to handle. I was brought out of my thoughts as I heard a brief knock and a nurse poke her head in.
“Sakura the Hokage is here to speak with you” I nodded and walked out and followed the nurse to where Tsunade was. When she came into my view I dismissed the nurse and walked up to her.

“So how is the girl doing?” Tsunade asked signaling to take a walk with her.

“Minor injuries are healed, all vital organs are clear…except. Her lungs won't seem to heal, when I do they go back to the original damaged condition. Which causes me to re-heal them.”

“Shino has told me what happened before she lost consciousness, so I will handle her case from here on out.”

“Go home and get rest, you probably lost a lot of chakra healing her countless times.”

She was right; I had been healing her for hours now. Even I know my limits so I did not refuse the offer of the well deserved rest.

“Thank you Tsunade.” I then took my leave, as she went into the patient's room to care of her in a way I could not.

I walked out of the hospital, I immediately noticed the change in scenery outside, and it didn't smell like sanitized everything. The scenery wasn't bland as it was inside.

The village was colorful and full of life and smelled like pine trees, and soil.

I could never live in the any place like the sand village; it's too bland and…sandy. I don't know how Temari does it. The sand must get in the most annoying places. ;]

I started walking in the direction of my apartment; I made it about halfway until I heard.

“Sakura-chan!!!”

I turned to see a bundle of blonde headed my way. Once close enough he stopped running and slowed down. “You walk really fast”

“What is it Naruto? I was on my way home”

“I went to the hospital to see if you wanted to have ramen with me but they said you left early. I was headed to your house to go get you. So…Do you want to have ramen with me?”

I hadn't really eaten all the much today and I needed to go grocery shopping anyway so.

“Sure” `There's no one waiting for me at home'

Kiba's P.O.V.

`Damn it's been almost the whole day, and no one has come to say if we can go visit the girl now. Hinata must be so worried'

Something must be really wrong with her.

“Kiba dinners ready!” Hana yelled to him from downstairs.

After coming down and sitting at the table with the food in front of me I looked at my food and stabbed the meat that was on my plate with the fork that had been placed next to my plate.

I took small bites till the meat was all gone. Last time I rushed I started choking. Which is not fun might I add.

“Kiba is something wrong? You've been acting funny since you came back from that mission.”

“Sorry it's just been a rough day.”

“Care to talk about it?” `Why does she have to be so nosey'

“Is it going to get you to leave me alone?” I leaned forward and put my elbows on the table to get comfortable.

“Yes” she put a grin on her face knowing she had one this round of the battle.

“We were on our mission and we came across a girl-”

“-Ah girl troubles” she leaned forward being more interested

“No it's not girl troubles, when we found her she was in really bad condition. So… we brought her back here to the hospital. We haven't heard about her condition yet.” I leaned back in my chair signaling that my story was complete.

“So… Your worried about her safety?”

“Nah I don't really care either way. It's just that…the girls injuries seemed to worry Hinata, which is unlike her.”

“Ahhhh” she said in an understanding kind of way.

“Why don't you just go to the hospital in the morning and see how she's doing?”

It took a minute to think about but I agree. `Maybe she is okay and they just forgot to send for us.'

Hana got up and grabbed their plates to clean them up. “Can I borrow Akamaru tomorrow?”

I got up and stretched which caused me to yawn rather loudly. “Yeah, Yeah, Sure. I'm off to bed night”

“Night Kiba”

I walked upstairs and plopped on my bed, and started thinking `I wonder what's going to happen tomorrow'.

Tsunade's P.O.V.

It took a while but I finally got her lungs to work properly, I just hope I gave her enough medicine to get her out of the jutsu.

“Tsunade, do you need any assistance?”

“No I just finished up here.”

“So when is she supposed to wake?” Shizune asked walking fully into the room and shutting the door behind her.

“If anything she'll be in a coma like state for weeks maybe even months. Not sure it depends on the damage the jutsu has done to her body. We're going to just have to wait it out.”

“Is she allowed visitors?”

“Yes she could now because she's stable…Why?”

“The Hyuga Heiress is worried of the girls health, and wanted to know when she could receive visits.”

“Ah…yes, yes. It's fine. I have more paperwork to fill out so I'll be on my way now.” I made my way to the door and closed it behind me.

“Don't you even think about drinking tonight!”

“Can't hear you!”

“Tsunade!” I could hear Shizune's footsteps grow louder as she stormed heading my way.

“This is going to be a long night.”

Sakura's P.O.V.

“Night Naruto” I walked up to my front door and unlocked it and slid in.

“Man! Can Naruto talk!” I threw the keys in the bowl on the table up against the wall.

Looking around at this house, it was dark and held the stench of stale air. Man I didn't think it was that bad.

(Well it is)

I walked over to my bed and laid down on top of deep red sheets that were decorated with cherry blossoms as a border. `What changed to make me like this?'

(Well, 1. Sasuke left and told you flat out that he basically couldn't give a shit about you. 2. Your Parents died 2 years ago. Did I mention Sasuke not returning your feelings?)

“UGH!” I rolled over and just groaned into my pillow. I need to get back on my feet…somehow.

I can't worry about that right now though.

I went under the sheets and tried to let sleep take me. But it was a little bit of a struggle.

I won the battle around… hmm I don't know 4 in the morning.

`Oh what a joy it is to be me.'

A/N: Sorry that the last Sakura part was short but hey what can I say she fell asleep. Nothing is interesting when people are asleep. So now you have to wait till they wake up. But man this took forever for me to write! Don't mind it if I made grammar mistakes or spelling. It's hard to focus on that stuff while your trying to get the idea out. Anyway I hoped you enjoyed it. If you did don't be afraid to rate and review =]. Next chapter should be up in like a week or so. So be on the look out!!
