Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Endless Rain ❯ Prologue ( Prologue )
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto but I wish I did….oh well….onto my story ^.^
"Wherever we go is okay,"
You said
Now what may have been
Has been stopped by time
On that night that was too long
I had a dream where you left me
Staring at a foreign sky
I hugged my lonliness
My fallen tears
Are piling up on the winds of time
At the end
I feel your breath
DRY YOUR TEARS WITH LOVE
DRY YOUR TEARS WITH LOVE
LONELINESS... YOUR SILENT WHISPER
FILLS A RIVER OF TEARS THROUGH THE NIGHT
MEMORY... YOU NEVER LET ME CRY
AND YOU, YOU NEVER SAID GOODBYE
SOMETIMES OUR TEARS BLINDED THE LOVE
WE LOST OUR DREAMS ALONG THE WAY
BUT I NEVER THOUGHT YOU'D TRADE YOUR SOUL TO THE FATES
NEVER THOUGHT YOU'D LEAVE ME ALONE
TIME THROUGH THE RAIN HAS SET ME FREE
SANDS OF TIME WILL KEEP YOUR MEMORY
LOVE EVERLASTING FADES AWAY
ALIVE WITHIN YOUR BEATLESS HEART
DRY YOUR TEARS WITH LOVE
DRY YOUR TEARS WITH LOVE
My fallen tears
Are piling up on the winds of time
This feeling at the end
Makes my blue rose change
DRY YOUR TEARS WITH LOVE
DRY YOUR TEARS WITH LOVE
My fallen tears are piled on the winds of time again
At the end I can feel your breath
DRY YOUR TEARS WITH LOVE
DRY YOUR TEARS WITH LOVE
DRY YOUR TEARS WITH LOVE
DRY YOUR TEARS WITH LOVE
If you could have taught me anything
You would have found what love is
If you could have taught me what was on your mind
I could have shown you the way
Someday... I will be before you
Have you ever thought about that time?
I never imagined the pictures of that night
For now I will try to live for you
And for you…
I will try to live
Try to live the love, the dreams,
And finally, the tears.

Prologue:
From Ninja to Rurouni
"Gomen nasai, Naruto. But you don't have the qualities we are looking for in a Chounin, better luck next time." the examiner told the blonde ninja, who grumbled out loud in protest and walked away before anyone could see his tears.
"You've got the skills, but you're not what we are looking for." said a different examiner to Naruto, who nodded silently and left without a fuss, causing a few eyebrows to be raised.
* A week ago*
"You didn't complete the necessary requiremen…" the examiner trailed off when he saw Naruto looked down and his shoulders started to shake uncontrollably. A few of the people thought that he was crying but were surprised when Naruto suddenly broke out in insane laughter.
"I see it now……" Naruto muttered softly
"What do you see?" the examiner asked curious and unnerved by the young ninja's actions
"You're afraid of me……." was the answer that everyone heard
The examiner snorted, "Stop making excu………" the man was caught off guard when Naruto blurred forward and slammed him against the unforgiving wall
"You are nothing but a HYPOCRITE!" Naruto snarled as he tightened his grip around the man's neck ignoring the shouts of warning from the other examiners and ninjas, "I truly see everything for what it is now."
Naruto let the man drop and made his exit, the crowd parting for him like the Red Sea.
"You'll pay for this, you stupid brat!" the man shouted in anger but all his rage vanished when a kunai was imbedded a few scant millimeters away from his face. He didn't even see the boy move!
"Next time, you die." Naruto said coldly as he headed for his apartment
*Present Time*
Looking out the window into the starry night sky and staring at the pale full moon, Uzumaki Naruto merely sighed and went back to packing all the necessary stuff he would need in his long journey into the unknown. But he didn't care about what would happen to him anyone, he didn't have anything to lose.
"This will solve things for everyone." Naruto told himself as he took off his regular clothes and put on a black traveling kimono that he had found neatly hidden in his apartment. It was a little worn but he didn't care, it would serve its purpose. He would leave the leaf to become a wanderer and a missing-nin.
"Well, I've always wanted to see the world." Naruto said as he sat down for the last time on his bed and took one last look around his apartment, "Guess this is my chance now."
It was a week ago after the little incident with the examiner that showed Naruto the harsh reality of his life. He knew that his dream of becoming the next Hokage after Tsunade was now nothing more than a fleeting fantasy as the people couldn't let of the past and clung to their fear and prejudice was fast becoming an immovable obstacle.
In the days following after the incident, Naruto kept to himself mostly. He went to the forest to train at dawn's first light and stayed there till the moon came up in the night sky. He had been avoiding Sakura, Sasuke, and Kakashi to avoid any confrontation that wouldn't be beneficial to them or him. He never noticed the worried glances that the other rookie nine sent his way.
Naruto stood up from his bed, finally rousing from his deep thoughts and went to the kitchen and lit a candle as he placed it on the middle of the table. Then he walked towards his stove and turned it on.
The only regret that Naruto ever had in his choice of leaving the village of hidden leaf was not telling Haruno Sakura, one of the most important people to him, what he truly felt about her. At first it was just a little crush on the pink haired girl but as time progressed his little crush deepened into something more. But he knew it was not meant to be. The reason for this was Uchiha Sasuke, his main rival, and the one who caught Sakura's eye. Another was that if or when she'd find about the Kyubi, Sakura would just treat him like the others.
"From this moment on…." said Naruto as he quickly walked out of his apartment as he had some business left to finish and he wanted to go with a bang, "...Uzumaki Naruto is no more."
Half an hour later, villagers and ninjas alike would be roused from their sleep by an earth shattering explosion coming from an apartment where a certain loud mouthed ninja lived.
The wanderer gazed at the rising sun in the horizon as he stopped for a quick rest and saw the pillar of smoke coming from Hidden Leaf Village.
"This is what I choose…….." the wanderer said as he got up from the rock he was sitting on and continued on his journey without looking back.
*A little later in the morning*
To say Tsunade was furious would be like saying an ant could kill an elephant. There was an explosion at Naruto's apartment in the morning hours and after the flames had finally been controlled and extinguished, there were no signs of the boy and she was getting worried for his safety.
When she had heard about that incident with the examiner, she had promptly fired the man but not before having a `talk' with him. She had decided to let Naruto cool off for the next week or so before approaching him about taking the exams for another time. Now, Naruto had vanished, either was kidnapped or ran away. She wasn't sure which though.
"Troublesome brat." all of her thoughts about the situation when her secretary came in with a package, "Can't you see I'm busy?"
"I'm sorry Hokage-sama, but this package was left in front of the tower. One of the ANBU found it just a few minutes ago, it's addressed specifically to you." answered the secretary.
"Alright, give it here." ordered Tsunade to which the secretary complied and gave the package to her boss and left when Tsunade motioned her to leave so that she could have some privacy.
Tsunade slowly opened the package and was surprised when she saw a leaf headband. Taking it out, she was even more surprised when her eyes caught a piece of jewelry.
"I-It can't be." she said in shock and disbelief at what she gazed at.
It was the necklace she had given to Naruto, a gift any ninja would kill to receive. It meant that the receiver was in favor of the current Hokage and had a very good chance of succeeding the title when the reigning leader died or stepped down. Tears started to form around Tsunade's eyes as she eyed the necklace and noticed a small card around it. She opened the card and read the single sentence written in it,
`I can never be Hokage.'
Tsunade let the card fall from her lifeless hands as tears fell from her face,
"Yondaime………what have we done?"
Hurting more than words could ever try to say
Once again my tears come raining down
Someday, though, I know that all I feel will be...
So I sing... this 'Unending Melody'...
Hold you close within my heart and tomorrow will live
again and
Maybe you and I will live there, too...
Sing without you
I'll sing without you
Can't you feel my heart
Falling through the rain?
I sing without you
I'll sing without you
Can't you hold my tears?
Cause, still I love you
I can't face that thought of being alone
I sing, for the song still carries on
Hold you close within my heart and think of all the
songs we would sing
But your voice has faded soft away...
Sing without you
I'll sing without you
Can't you feel my pain?
There's nothing I can do...
I still have a longing for your memory
Even if it only causes pain...
I want to tell you of what's in my heart
But right now... there's no one here for me to tell...
Once again the rain comes pouring, slowly seeming to
turn into dreams
Where tomorrow is 'played' just like a song...
Sing without you
I'll sing without you
Can't you feel my heart
Falling through the rain?
I sing without you
I'll sing without you
Can't you hold my tears?
Cause, still I love you

Author's Note: Hi all! I finally got over the writer's block for Heir to the Throne but I've been hit with a serious bout of laziness! Sorry to all my readers, but don't worry as I already have the chapters all planned out and I just need to write them! Oh yeah, this is one of my fate splits from `Crucifixion of Love' to which I've decided to make a one shot story thanks to one of my reader's suggestion! Anyways R & R!!!
