Disclaimer: Naruto or any of the other anime touch upon in this fic are mine, at least not yet, but that doesn't stop the plot bunnies from attacking me.

 

Summary: Fate's always had a hard job, and when Naruto dies and the all her work is about to go down the drain, she enlists some help from another world to set it right. Only problem can this Naruto do, what the original couldn't. Naru/Hina

 

Note: I am not very good at Japanese to I will try to keep it simple by only using suffixes and names. Japanese jutsu names will be included (just because I like how they look).

 

Naruto: Fate's Rewrite

Chapter One: Conquests and Requests

 

His dream was dead, along with just about everyone else he knew. Lying before him dead was the man who caused just about all the suffering in the world, Orochimaru. The man hadn't gone down without a fight and that fight had taken almost all of Konoha to win.

 

`The road to victory had been long and bloody and in the end it was not worth the struggle and sacrifice of all the leaf shinobi who gave thier life to save the world of Orochimaru's terror,' were Naruto's last thought as he drifted into the afterlife, thinking of all that was lost in the war.

 

Tsunade had given her life holding open the Sound's main gate so that the ill fated attack on the Sound wouldn't end before it started. The act proved fatal when Kabuto attacked her chakra exhausted body, while she was holding the gate. This only enraged Shizune to the point where she would fight Kabuto, a superior shinobi, to the death, resulting in two of the world's brightest medical minds to pass over in one fleeting moment.

 

Jiraiya's fate was much worse, seeing as he was the first to encounter Orochimaru. In the ten years that the Leaf warred with the Sound Jiraiya had never felt so outclassed in his life. Orochimaru had transcended the human boundaries of life and entered into a god like state. Even a fellow Sanin could not last more than a few minutes in front of the man's might, and Jiraiya met his end when Orochimaru impaled him with Kusanagi, which it's deadly poison ate at Jiraiya's insides. For the last painful moments of his life Jiraiya had to watch Orochimaru gloat on how much more powerful he had become and how Jiraiya was more of a fool than ever before. Finally the old pervert died cursing Orochimaru to the lowest ring of hell.

 

With the last of his fellow Sanin dead Orochimaru, moved on to the next generation destroying Konoha's most prized clans with ease. The Nara's fell first after a failed attempt to imprison him in their Seken no Kage. The attempt resulted in most of the clan either being driven into the black void they had created for Orochimaru, or being killed by Orochimaru himself for being strong enough to resist the jutsu.

 

Shikamaru and Shikaku were some of the few that resisted and in the end met their end at the end of the famous grass cutter. Even with his intelligence, Shikamaru could not crack the code to Orochimaru's power and died thinking that it would be too troublesome to go to the afterlife wondering how the man had done it.

 

Next in line were the Yamanaka clan and their mental jutsu that served the clan for generations only caused a lethal stigma to break out within the clan itself. Any mind that connected with the snake sanin was driven insane by the man's twisted psyche, and when they tried to get him from their brethren they were only dragged down into insanity with them.

 

Last of the Ino-Shika-Cho clans was the Akimichi clan whose size was not a deciding factor once Manda was summoned. The snake boss and sanin quickly tore though the numerous fat fighters in a furious frenzy. One because their size clashed with Orochimaru's narcistic views of beauty and two because Manda was more than happy to dine on such fine sacrifices.

 

With three of Konoha's oldest clans obliterated in one swoop, fear passed over the village and smothered any of the `Will of Fire' that was left in the villagers and shinobi alike. Now demoralized and in disarray Konoha an even easier target for Orochimaru and his Sound forces to kill, Orochimaru proved it by unleashing a torrent of raw chakra so powerful that it's entirety rocked the earth beneath the feet of the Aburame clan while the Kukai bugs inside of them were filled with chakra and ruptured after absorbing to much.

 

The only being to ever produce that much chakra and live was the Kyuubi and the similarities between the two demons were too abundant for the shinobi to miss. The fear of fighting another Kyuubi put fear into the remaining shinobi even more and seemed to only kicked the dying village while it was down.

 

The Inuzuka tried to hold a last stand against the sound at the borders of mid-Fire Country after Orochimaru sweep through the country side killing all innocents and recruiting any willing bodies willing to fight for his dominating side. Their stand failed as they were overwhelmed by sheer number and if it wasn't for their leader's iron determination to hold their ground they would have never seen Orochimaru in the flesh. Kiba the clan head was killed after lasting ten minutes with the snake lord, when Orochimaru summoned an enhanced Rashomon gate that stopped Kiba's Garoga and sucked the twenty-five year old man into the gates of hell.

 

Orochimaru had now breached far into Fire Country and killed each lord he encountered on the way leaving a trail of chaos and anarchy behind him. Now at the gates of his hated home village Orochimaru mounted his counterattack on Konoha ripping the gates apart to meet the remnants of Team Seven and the whole Hyuuga clan. In one fell swoop Orochimaru scattered his opposition like he had done to Naruto in the chunin exam. The only things that could possible kill him were located there in the village, so Orochimaru took extreme caution and took it upon himself to make sure that those things would be rotting before the night was over.

 

Like an anaconda slowly swallowing its prey, Orochimaru slowly exterminated the Hyuuga clan member by member until he reached the Hyuuga Head. Dropping the head of the famous Hyuuga Neji, greatest branch member ever produced Orochimaru licked his lips in anticipation. This man was the only person that could harm him in any way, not that his body was only attached to this world by chakra. The dual commenced and Orochimaru dominated the Hyuuga Head throughout the fight and took it upon himself to mention the man's constant failures only to get a rise out of him. Instances like letting his wife die by his hand, or being manipulated by the council corrupted by none other than the snake himself, and lastly he pushed his daughter away who had a unique power that only manifested itself every few score of generation.

 

The Head then fell a broken man in both body and soul and passed to the afterlife knowing he failed as both a shinobi and a person(you could put father here as well). This left Hinata the surviving member of Hyuuga clan to fighting Orochimaru in front of the Hokage Tower in an attempt to buy her one love a few last seconds to prepare for the fight of his life.

 

Orochimaru humored the girl with a mock fight only landing blows that would cripple her and tell her that it was futile to resist, but she kept coming and for the Chunin that she was she managed to hold back the snake sanin for the thirty seconds she promised, until he mentioned her father. Finally the kind doormat snapped and lashed out at the cocky Sanin in righteous fury. The single blow land stopped chakra flow near Orochimaru's heart, not enough to kill him but enough to make him notice the girl's existence and thus making her his number one target. Deciding to give the girl a special parting gift Orochimaru dove into her mind like the Yamanaka tried to do to him, but unlike the dead clan Orochimaru succeed and began plowing through the girl's mind ripping it to shreds in the process.

 

After seconds of watching the girl's uneventful life, Orochimaru stumbled onto something so juicy he couldn't help but use it. The Hyuuga Heiress loved the unloved demon child. And being the bastard he was Orochimaru exploited it in ever way that he could. So by not killing the brain dead Hinata, Orochimaru kept her body just long enough to show the very demon container the girl loved her lifeless body. Giving the girl a piece of his immortality, he had her spill her dearest secret before slaying her in front of Naruto scarring his mind and soul before casting Hinata's lifeless husk away like trash.

 

At that very moment Naruto didn't seem to care any more, and the only thing the boy could think was, `Have I wasted my whole life?' while the snake's words settled in his mind. Hinata had loved him her whole life and it wasn't until her tragic death did he notice it, and once he started looking back Naruto added up all the signs before coming to the conclusion, `I have… haven't I?' and remember the saying `what you want is always right under your nose'. Reality slammed back to him and Naruto found that Orochimaru had killed Kakashi and Sakura within the too seconds he blacked out and he went back to interrogating a blind Sasuke to figure out how to kill the snake.

 

Orochimaru had taken the boy's eyes and yet Sasuke was still loyal to the snake and was rambling on about how Orochimaru could now kill Itachi using his eyes thus having his revenge. It had taken three days to crack Sasuke, and convince him Orochimaru was using him. And once that happened years of pent up anguish and guilt hit the surviving Uchiha. The breakdown was the last thing Naruto needed and with Ino's help, before the Yamanaka massacre, Naruto managed to find a way to dive into Sasuke's mind to retrieve the information needed. The only problem was that it could permanently injure the subject's mind, but Naruto no longer cared and in the two seconds he had before Orochimaru arrived, he got the information needed and did battle with the immortal snake.

 

Naruto battled with Orochimaru for hours on end drawing onto Kyuubi's power as Orochimaru unleashed more of his true power. Soon they were at their peaks and in one quick fatal move, Naruto channeled all his remaining chakra, demonic and human, into one source… the three pronged kunai of the Yondaime. The trident shaped weapon dug into the snake sanin finishing what Hinata started by sealing and rupturing the tenketsu before Naruto multiplied it around Orochimaru's body riddling the corpse with Kunai and completely severing the snakes hold on the living world.

 

This did not come without a price, and as soon as Naruto opened himself up to land the finishing blow Orochimaru plunged his Kusanagi into Naruto poisoning the boy. The two titans fell, Rokudaime and Snake Sanin, after killing each other in battle while demolishing all that surrounded them.

 

Here Naruto lay dying poisoned and chakra exhausted, and Kyuubi gave no sign of helping. Waiting for death's cold embrace Naruto was completely submerged in the feeling when something sparked on the other side.

 

Sasuke had risen from his coma like state Naruto put him in to gather the information needed to kill Orochimaru. The blind shell of a man rose from the ground and with deft sense strode to Orochimaru's body and plucked his eyes out before reattaching them with a masterful display of jutsu. Naruto decided if Sasuke lived was none of his business anymore and would have happily died if it weren't for the change in aura.

 

Orochimaru's curse seal flared and the warped harmony of Sasuke and Orochimaru's voices blended to say, “I am…,” before Orochimaru's won out and said, “ALIVE!!!” Orochimaru had come back from the grave using Sasuke's body as his new host with no one to oppose him.

 

The executive level of heaven was always busy, never did a day go by where once of the thousand parallel universes that Almighty created didn't have a crisis, this time it was the Naruto universe and it was a doozy.

 

Fate was stressed and as God's secretary one should be, because while the Big Man got to golf and well play God all day she did all the paperwork. `Why did I sign up for this?' she asked before remembering all the perks of being immortal and of being God's secretary. Rubbing her temples and envisioning her two millennia vacation that was overdue Fate got a page of checking department and hurried down.

 

After meeting with the four archangels or as she liked to call them, the four laborers of God, Fate looked at the two folders containing two parallel deaths. `Two deaths NEVER happen at the exact same moment much less in different dimensions, maybe close to each other but never at the same time,' the celestial woman thought before looking at the lives of the two deceased. `One Uzumaki Naruto, classic tragic life leading to happy ending. Now what went wrong?' Fate asked herself while looking over the tapestry she had started from the beginning of time and on it she had recorded all the events of the parallel universes that occurred until Armageddon came and they would start a few thousand millennia of work all over again.

 

Summoning up a ladder, she moved to the Naruto section where she followed his life up to the point where he died. Along the way she noticed that there were several black spots that were spreading to other dimensions. `That's what's wrong this Orochimaru character has begun to destroyed the fabrics of time. If this keeps up I may have to start all over!' Fate mentally cried and cringed at the thought.

 

`No way in hell, and thank God I'm here, that I'm doing that,' Fate said to herself before ordering the two people killed to the archangel's office. Looking at the blonde in front of her, she could see that his life had really taken a toll on him. `I can't put him through that again,' she thought before, looking at the other deceased man. He was average all around and you wouldn't recognize him if he walked perfectly silent in a crowd.

 

Turning to the plain man she asked his name and what she got surprised her, `Maybe he's not so normal,' Fate thought while contemplating what to do.

 

`If I don't fix this soon, my two millennia break just went down the drain and we start over. So I guess we are going to have to do a little cut and paste,' she thought before asking the plain boy.

 

`So how much do you know about the man beside you,” and what she got surprised her. Not only did the boy know who he was, but he also knew all about the life of Naruto which surprised the Hokage a great deal. After explaining to him that his whole world was a commic book in the real world, Fate was surprised that Naruto took it so well. The blonde just laughed and said, “I don't care as long as I can see my friends again,” and under his breath he said, “And apologize to Hinata-chan.”

 

Fate smiled she knew all about the shy girl's crush and hid it behind a stern face she directed toward the other attended who was coming to grips that all of the archangel's where female.

 

“So you're telling me that all our books on earth,”

 

“Master earth,”

 

“Okay, Mater Earth, are wrong and that every depiction of you as a male is wrong,” the boy asked casting a suspicious eye at the female angel. The girl just sighed before explaining, “Yes, back then women weren't revered as powerful beings and on top of that what man wanting to follow a women he couldn't see? Yeah so it was for the best that the world didn't know,” Gabriel said before stamping more papers.

 

Souls were coming into heaven and others were rushing around trying to get more work done. Looking around the boy asked, “So you want to give me a second chance?” going back to reason why he was here. Fate wanted him to live Naruto's natural life out, only this time he would have to defeat Orochimaru without dying. Gabriel and here fellow archangels only nodded before the boy sank onto the cloud he stood on and said, “Maybe I'm not okay. I'm mean I did get shot,” whispering the last part, but Fate caught it and already knew.

 

This boy had been shot trying to spot a mugging that was a result of Orochimaru's evil fluctuating into other dimensions. He wasn't scheduled to have died, and because of that heaven was full, so they were offering him a chance to fix it. But it seemed he was still skeptical about begin dead. So Fate stepped in and told him, “Look you are dead, either you can take this other chance at life or you can go to the afterlife and rest.” And with that she went back to massaging her temples.

 

The boy paused and debated to himself, `I guess life wouldn't be much different me and Naruto were both orphans and I can deal with loneliness, and the ninja fights would be cool,' the boy thought to himself before looking at a hopeful looking fate.

 

“Saying that I do it what's to stop me from making the same mistakes that the Naruto over there made,” the boy said pointing to Naruto who was holding a conversation with a blushing Hinata. Fate followed his hands and said, “Oh that. Well you would have something he wouldn't have,” she said smiling slyly at the boy. Not liking her smile Naruto asked, “What would that be?” and before he knew it Naruto was back and a link of energy was flowing from Naruto's to his.

 

Now the boy had experience everything Naruto went through first hand, and needless to say it was painful. After he was done he looked at Fate who was still smiling and heard, “Well good luck with your new life,” before a head splitting pain shot through him centering in his stomach.

 

`What did I sign up for!!!' the new Naruto thought before passing out from the pain. The Kyuubi was resealed and a new life had begun, and at the same time Fate's rewrite of the universes' tapestry.

 

A/N Another new fic, well this one's been bugging me for months and I decided to give you guys a Christmas gift and write it out. Tell me what you think, and ask question and make suggestions. Aside from that happy holidays and keep reading.

 

Jutsu Logue:

 

Kusanagi: Orochimaru's butchering tool. Known as “Grass cutter” it is highly poisonous and sharp, and when laced with chakra can cut through almost any substance.

 

Garoga: Double Wolf Fang. After combining with Akamaru, Kiba can create cyclones able to cut a man in two, but two bad Orochimaru was too stronger for him and he ended up dead.

 

Rashomon: This summoning creates a demonic form of the main gate of old Kyoto which is capable of blocking almost any attack. It was previously believed that two people were required to summon it, as both Sakon and Ukon did; however, Orochimaru has been able to summon three of these gates by himself with his Triple Rashomon. To do so, he simply uses both hands, instead of one as is common in a summoning.

Seken no Kage (World of Shadows): The Nara clan's ultimate jutsu. Takes several members to perform and once done is said to pull all life into the void known as death. Only Orochimaru has been known to be able to walk in and out freely, because he wasn't bound by mortal flesh, but the very essence of his chakra.
