I can't believe I'm even considering this. I mean, it's stupid! They're going to freak. They'll kill me. Or they'll disown me. Or something of that caliber. Sorry the writing's so bad… my hands are shaking.
I got so nervous today that I threw up. I'm worried that it may have been a panic attack, but maybe I'm just sick.
Zabuza thinks it's a bad idea to do it now. He thinks that with parents as high-strung as mine that I should wait until I'm out of high school to tell them. But… I don't want to lie to them any more. I mean, I can see where he's coming from. His parents kicked him out of the house when he was fourteen. He's seventeen now, but he's going to turn eighteen soon. He'll be one of the oldest people in his grade. I worry more about him than about myself, and with good reason!
Oh, well. I'm going to do it for sure, but I don't know when. God, if you're listening, please let them be able to stomach it…

I talked to Itachi today after drama. I think something's wrong, but I don't know what. He was a lot sadder, and less… Itachi-ish today. I hope he's okay.
On a different note, I also spoke with Haku. Looks like he might come out to his parents. I'm pulling for him, but he's almost sick about it. Zabuza doesn't think he should yet, but still wants to be there with him, but I think Haku wants to do it on his own. I really admire that girl. I mean, guy. Ha ha, I made a funny.
Jeez, what IS it with everyone today? I mean, Gaara was HAPPY at breakfast today, and everyone who is USUALLY bright and perky were all depressed. Huh. I'll have to tell Gaara to stop being so happy, hm? Ha ha. Ha. Ha ha.

“Attention, students,” Principal Sarutobi blared over the crackly intercom. Kankuro looked up from his math. “We have a surprise assembly today. Ninth grade is dismissed to the auditorium at this time.”
Kankuro sniffed. Eleventh graders were not ninth graders.
Mr. Baki sighed audibly from the front of the room.
“Everyone put your stuff away. That's the end of today's lesson, I guess,” he said, rolling his visible eye. He and Mr. Kakashi were both teachers who wore, for some reason, eye patches. No one had ever asked them why, and they had never bothered to tell the student populous.
Kankuro leaned back in his chair. He could smell something embarrassing and or boring about to happen, and his nose was never wrong.

Itachi looked blearily at the intercom as the announcement was made. Everything hurt and ached and stung, and he couldn't concentrate at all on what Mr. Umino was saying. He rubbed his eyes. He hadn't slept at all the night before, and now he was both physically and mentally exhausted. He considered begging to go to the nurse. If he was going to do that, then this was the time to do it. Iruka had already asked him if he was feeling all right, which, of course, he wasn't. But he told the fidgety teacher that he felt fine.
Itachi thought that Iruka would make a good mother. He had a small chuckle at the thought.
If Kankuro were sitting next to him, he would say that he could smell something embarrassing about to happen. And Itachi would have whole-heartedly believed him.

“Something embarrassing is about to happen,” Gaara said, shoving his science book in his locker, and standing.
“How do you know?” Naruto asked, frowning.
“I can smell it.”
“… You can SMELL when embarrassing stuff's gonna happen?”
“Call it a `family gift'.”
“Ah. Mm-kay.” Naruto coughed into his hand, and he and Gaara continued to allow themselves to be strung along in the wave of freshmen advancing to the auditorium. All the freshmen except one. Who was the one freshman? Well, you'll find out in a moment. Patience, human, patience!

“Tenth graders are excused to the gym at this time.”
Temari heard the announcement quite well from her spot next to the railing that bordered the roof of the school, but she ignored it. She was leaning against said railing, a bathroom pass dangling from her wrist. She sighed, and slid down to sit. The wind was light and airy today. There was a light gray layer of clouds covering the blue of the sky, and she could tell that it was raining in the west. Maybe it would rain again today.
In Temari's opinion, Tuesdays were much worse than Mondays.
Suddenly, the door to the roof opened behind her, and someone stepped out. She whirled around on her knees, nervous that it might be a teacher coming to look for her, but instead, she was met with a slightly familiar sight.
“…Shikamaru?” she asked, frowning at the spikey-ponytailed teen.
“What?” Shikamaru asked, shutting the door, and jamming his hands in his pockets.
“Is that your name? Shikamaru?”
“Yeah. Why?”
“What are you doing up here?”
“I could ask you the same question, couldn't I?”
In truth, Shikamaru had heard the words `surprise assembly' in the announcement, and ran for his life. The only place he knew no one would be was the roof, seeing as it was off limits to students, so he made his way up there when no one was looking.
But now this… Temari… was up here too. All he wanted to do was watch the clouds. And now she was here. How troublesome.
She was staring at him with her hard, brown eyes. Finally, she said,
“I'm avoiding the stupid assembly. What about you?”
“Same.” Shikamaru shrugged, and came over to sit down next to the girl. He put his back against the railing, and slid down so that he was laying down face up. “How troublesome,” he muttered, shutting his eyes.
“What? The assembly?”
“Mm. Do you know what it's for?”
“I have no idea,” Temari said with a shrug.
“It's a sex ed assembly.”
“What?”
“Yep. I heard from my dad. He knows things like that.”
“Oh.” Temari bit her lip, then, hesitantly, laid down next to the boy. He put his arms behind his head, and she said, “So… do you come up here often?”
“Yes.”
“Ah. I see.” A beat. “I'm glad I'm missing that assembly now.”
“Yeah, no kidding.”
“Eleventh graders excused to the auditorium at this time.”

“Kankuro!”
The voice, high-pitched and effeminate as it was, caught Kankuro's attention immediately.
“Yo!” he said, straightening up, and glancing around the quickly filling auditorium. He could see Haku down near the front, along with Zabuza (of course), Ten-ten, Neji, and Chouji. He backpedaled down the aisle, and forced his way over to the empty seat next to Haku.
“Have you seen Itachi yet?” the sophomore asked. “I haven't seen him all day.”
“Yeah, me neither,” Kankuro said, adjusting his hat. “He's made himself scarce since last night. I tried calling him, but he didn't pick up his phone.”
“That's odd.”
“Yeah, no kidding.”
Suddenly, Haku's eyes widened. “There he is! Itachi! Over here!”
The dark-haired teen looked up from his stare to the floor. He had just come in through the side entrance. He raised a hand to show that he'd heard, then made his way over.
The auditorium was not exactly state-of-the-art. It was one of those old-fasioned ones with a sloping floor, and velvety chairs. The stage had lights on the floor down stage, and there were lights hanging from the ceiling as well. The stage itself was wooden, and raised about four feet off the ground.
At that moment, the boom of the intercom came on.
“Twelfth graders to the gym at this time.”
“Hi, all,” Itachi said quietly, sitting between Chouji and Neji.
“Dude, where ya been all day?” Kankuro asked, laughing. “And all night!”
“I've just been busy,” Itachi said, his hair falling in his eyes.
Kankuro frowned.
“Hey, Itachi, are you o-“
“Itachi! Dude, what's up?” Shisui Uchiha said, plopping down directly behind Itachi, the rest of the football team following him. Itachi made a face.
“Shisui,” he said as a greeting, not turning around.
“Now, Itachi, what kind of salutations is that for your cousin?” Shisui laughed.
“Good morning, students!” V.P. Tsunade said sharply into the microphone. The entire auditorium shut up at that moment. No one wanted to insight the wrath of the blonde vice principal. “Today, we have a special assembly planned for you all!”
She paused for a moment, scanning the crowd for anyone she could possibly throw out. Her eyes fell on Naruto, who was seated next to Gaara close to the back, then on Kiba, who was next to Hinata in the middle of the room. Next onto Shisui, who bit his lip. The boys shivered. She continued, satisfied.
“You're probably all wondering why we called you in here today! Well,” she said, “today, you all get a special treat on being informed about the dangers of STDs!”
A stifled groan ran through the crowd.
“Information on abstinence!”
Groan.
“Pregnancy!”
Moan.
“And most importantly, the reproductive system and organs!”
Several blushed, snickers, and more groans.
“Now,” Tsunade said, clearly not enjoying this, “I'd like to introduce your speakers, Mr.'s Gai and Ibiki!”
There was a lame, scattered applause, more groans, and someone called out, “Boooo!”
Gaara swallowed. Oh dear sweet God… he could tell what was going to come next.
Gai gallantly jaunted out onto the stage, with a wide grin. Ibiki followed him, shoulders hunched.
“HELLOOOOO, YOUTHFUL HIGHSCHOOL CLASSES!” Gai bellowed into the microphone, causing static and feedback to bounce back and forth through the speakers.
“Bet the AV club's having a great time with this,” Kankuro muttered sourly, sinking down in his chair.
“FIRST OF ALL,” Gai continued, “WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE DANGERS OF STDS! WE HAVE A SLIDESHOW FOR YOU ALL TO VIEW!”
`Yup,' Gaara thought. `I knew it.'
At that moment, Sasuke Uchiha came in from his left, and sat down next to him.
“Hey,” he said casually, crossing his arms. Gaara stared at his face in horror.
“Uh… h-hi…”
“THE FIRST SLIDE: GENITAL HERPES!”
The screen behind him flashed with disturbing images. The people in the front row all squealed with disgust, along with almost everyone in the room. Sasuke made a face that showed he was not pleased. Gaara's vision went from Sasuke's disgusted face, to the stage.
“Oh dear sweet Lord!” Naruto squeaked, covering his eyes. Gaara's face heated up.
“MORE GENITAL HERPES!”
There were terrified squeaks echoing through the room. Gaara sank down as low in his chair as possible, but he could not obscure the view of the screen.
“REMEMBER, THE ONLY TURE WAY TO AVOID GENITAL HERPES IS ABSTINENCE!”
Gaara's blushed went, on a scale of one to ten, from a four to an eleven.
More disturbing images, this time of childbirth.
“THE ONLY TRUE CONTRACEPTIVE IS ABSTINENCE!” Ibiki put in, gesturing at the screen.
Gaara almost died right there.
“THIS IS A WOMAN'S REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM!”
Down in the middle row, Hinata's normal blush skyrocketed so high that Kiba, who was bored off his ass, was surprised that her face didn't explode.
Down near the first row, Shisui jokingly punched his cousin in the arm.
“I bet you know all about that, huh, Itachi?” he laughed, leaning back in his chair. Itachi's hair overshadowed his face, so that Kankuro couldn't see his expression. Chouji was so disgusted that he had stopped eating his chips.
“Make it stop! Make it stoooop!” Ten-ten moaned, covering her eyes.
“No such luck. This thing's scheduled to go on until lunch,” Neji muttered, crossing his arms.
“How do you know that?”
“I saw the program on a teacher's desk.”
“Damn.”
“MORE GENITAL HERPES!”

“AND REMEMBER, THE ONLY TRUE CONTRACEPTIVE IS ABSTINENCE!” Ibiki shouted again for emphasis.
The school made it's dreary way out of the room. Haku was shaking, his hands pressed together.
“Dear sweet God, thank you for making me gay,” he murmured, his eyes shut. Zabuza rolled his eyes to the ceiling.
“I'm hungry,” he barked, crossing his arms. “Let's go get lunch.”
“God, I can't eat ANYTHING after seeing THAT.”
“No kidding.”
“Yeah.”
Naruto stumbled drunkenly out of the auditorium, pressing a hand to his mouth.
“I'm gonna heave!” he gasped, threading his way through the crowd to the bathroom. Gaara didn't bother following him. At that moment, someone tapped him on the shoulder. He turned, to see Sasuke standing behind him.
“Uh… hi…”
Smooth.
Sasuke crossed his arms.
“Uh… I was wondering,” he said, looking at a nearby wall. “Can I… sit at your table at lunch?”
“Uh… well… I mean…” Gaara's mouth hung agape for a moment, before he snapped out of his trance. “Yes! Yes, please do.”
Sasuke grinned.
“Thanks. I'll see you in a bit!”
Then he was gone, leaving Gaara in slight shock.
