Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Haunting Past ❯ chapter 5 ( Chapter 5 )

(Normal POV)
“So, Sasuke-kun, are you going to the Spring Festival?” Sakura asked as her and Sasuke walked through the park.
Sasuke had been out on a walk and Sakura had ‘bumped’ into him. Sasuke wasn’t one to tell someone to leave bluntly so he kept quiet as the pink haired girl followed him through the peaceful park.
Sasuke had no interest in anything Sakura had brought up as talking subjects.
“Hn” that was his way of saying ‘no’. Sakura looked disappointed before a hopeful glint entered her jade eyes.
“But me and Ino wanted you to join us, Naruto and Hinata for the firework show” Sasuke showed the tiniest bit of interest as Naruto’s name was mentioned. “Besides, Hinata is finally getting the courage to ask Naruto out. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to miss it.” Hinata had always liked the blond and Ino and Sakura had been encouraging the shy girl towards him more and more over the years.
It seemed perfect to confess her love towards Naruto at the festival just before the firework show. All three girls had fantasies of sharing a kiss with their dream boys during the wonderful show on the festival night. How romantic.
But Sasuke didn’t seem to happy to hear the Hyuuga girl was interested in Naruto that way. He envied her in a way, it was natural for a boy and girl to love each other, unlike a boy and a boy. There was a huge chance the two would be happy together. But Sasuke felt his love was stronger, he had just found his past love and he wouldn’t let Naruto go that easily.
“Maybe I will come” Sasuke said calmly. Sakura smiled and then a blush covered her face as the pink haired girl began to fiddle with her fingers.
“So…Sasuke-kun, would you like to accompany the festival with me then? It is traditional to go with someone” she looked up at the stoic Uchiha with a hopeful smile.
Sasuke looked down at the girl with the same blank face.
“Hn” he said again and left the girl where she stood, a disappointed look on her face as she watched Sasuke’s back as he left.

Hinata nervously paced around the outside of Naruto’s apartment. Her cheeks were tinted pink as she stopped her pacing and stood in front of the door, her index fingers pressed together then apart then back together in a nervous pattern as she looked at the door knob like it was a monster.
Hinata was severally nervous. Ino had forced her to ask Naruto to the festival now or else she would tell him on her own.
With a large gulp, Hinata raised a pale hand and softly knocked on the door. After a few minutes of no response, the shy girl tried again. There was a ’thump’ and the sound of a small coarse then the sound of footsteps heading towards the front door.
Hinata took another gulp as the door slowly opened to reveal messy blond hair and half lidded blue eyes. Hinata blushed heavily as Naruto looked at her sleepily.
“Hinata-chan? What are you doing here?” Naruto asked while rubbing his sleepy eyes with the back of his hand.
“Oh…um…well y-you see, Naruto-kun…”the shy girl stuttered while looking down at the ground. “I um…was wondering if you would l-like to um…c-come to the festival with m..m-me.”
Naruto looked down at the dark haired girl for a moment as clear silver eyes shyly looked up into his cerulean blue ones.
“Sure, Hinata-chan” Naruto grinned.
Hinata looked up completely, her face a whole shade darker.
“Really?” she asked hopefully. Could this be a dream? If it is, please let her not wake up.
“Sure!” the blonde’s grin spread as he set a tanned hand on the pale girl’s shoulder. “I’ll meet you around the bridge at 7, k?” Hinata simply nodded, still too happy to do much more.
With that, Naruto closed the apartment door and left Hinata to stand there, still in a pleasurable shock. With a content sigh, Hinata turned and smiled widely as she walked away from the apartment complexes. But as the girl left, a dark figure passed her, heading towards her previous location.
Dark eyes looked the place over before the figure walked closer.
(Sasuke’s POV)
I sigh. Its mid day, the skies being painted different colors of orange and pink as the sun sinks lower and lower. I was planning on stopping by Naruto’s earlier but when I saw the Hyuuga girl at his door, I turned and left. I’m guessing the girl finally asked him.
I sigh again as I look at the apartment complex that Naruto lives in. now would be better then never. I walk up the few stairs and after a few steps, I’m right in front of his door. Just before I’m about to knock, there’s a large crash from inside. My eyes widen as I start to pound on the door.
“Naruto? Naruto!” I yell while pounding harder on the door.
There are sounds of struggling and more crashes inside, I could hear my heart pounding in my chest as hard as my fist was against the door.
I begin to struggle with the lock and after a few minutes, it finally breaks and the door slams open.
The house is a mess. A complete and utter mess. But not lived in messy. Oh, no. far from it. Strong signs of struggle, tipped furniture, shattered TV, and blood….all over the wall. Shards of the window are on the ground, so is a large puddle of blood. I take a few steps in and notice a tanned hand laying in the blood. I run in completely and find the tanned hand is Naruto’s. His body lay limp in the pool of blood and his eyes are open but empty at the same time.
I freeze at the sight of those empty blue orbs.
“How nice of you to come” the voice was filled to the brim with amusement. “He seemed to be getting at you so I just decided to dispose of him before anything else happened.”
A small growl erupted from my throat. How could he!
“Itachi…” I growled.
