Biogenesis (n) the theory that life always arises from previously existing life
Sasuke tried to ignore Naruto as best he could, partly because he was trying not to think perverted thoughts, but partly because the moron was currently acting as if he was a four-year-old in their first ever candy store. He was running between every window in every shop and pressing his face against the glass before rocketing off to the next one.
“Monster, why is he even here?”
“It's that headmaster in their school, she thinks he's got some sort of good qualities in him.”
Sasuke almost whirled to punch those two in the face.
Why the hell is it that everyone hates Naruto? Every person he's walked by has glared and a few shops even closed in his face. What the hell is going on?
He growled at the next group of people pointing at Naruto, almost going over to give them a demonstration of Uchiha strength, but his brow furrowed when he finally realized that the group wasn't pointing at Naruto, per say, but the strange sun-like mark on his stomach.
“Gaara,” Sasuke said quietly, glaring at another couple sticking their noses up away from Naruto, “why is it that the town's people to hate Naruto?”
Gaara remained silent and staring straight ahead for so long that Sasuke thought the red head hadn't heard him, when out of nowhere, he answered.
“Kyuubi has a very known and very unlikable reputation.” He murmured. “That is passed to Naruto through their family ties.”
“So people hate him because of his sister?” Sasuke verified. People had never hated him for what Itachi had done, so why was it different for Naruto?
“It's strange that an Uchiha heir would not know this.” Gaara's eyes flicked to Sasuke, and then back to the road in front of them. “But yes, Kyuubi has committed countless horrors over the… years. I can't say that the destruction of village after village was taken lightly.”
Sasuke's brow furrowed sharply. Villages? And again with the whole I-know-something-but-I'm-not-going-to-tell-you-and-then-act-like-you're-stu pid-when-you-don't-know thing?!
“Her profession is not well liked.” Gaara continued. “She has taken the lives of thousands over the many years.”
“What does she do? My brother and his band work for their own aims, but I don't see how ones own gains could cause you to kill thousands.”
“No, Kyuubi is an assassin, and the best at it too. She charges high, but hasn't failed once.”
That good, huh? Strange that Naruto doesn't seem to have inherited those talents. Sasuke snorted mentally, as he would die before physically snorting.
“Gaara!” Naruto raced back and latched onto his arm. “Ichiraku's is right over there!”
“No.” Gaara said flatly.
“Why not?!” Naruto whined pitifully.
“Because you can't survive on ramen.” Gaara explained in his monotone voice, still looking straight ahead.
“Sasuke?” Naruto asked quietly.
No, don't look in his eyes, don't look in his eyes, don't look in his eyes, don't look in his eyes, don't look in his eyes… “Fine.” He muttered. Damn.
“Yes!” Naruto jumped into the air, his arms extended above his head.
Six Bowls of Ramen Later, After Sasuke Had Finally Said Enough
Naruto stretched hugely, sighing happily. “Thank you for the food!” he yelled out again as the three were on their way home.
Sasuke heaved a huge breath, fighting not to let his agitation show. He'd had this… feeling ever since they'd walked into the ramen shop… like he was in danger.
He didn't sense anyone, and no feelings warned him that he was being watched… but still…
“Sasuke, what is it?” Naruto leaned in front of him to catch his attention.
“Hn.” Sasuke grunted.
“…Uptight bastard.” Naruto muttered, straightening up and stuffing his hands in his pockets.
A crash came from above, and the three whirled. Out of nowhere, Gaara lunged, knocking Naruto out of the way seconds before a car smashed onto the pavement where he'd been not two milliseconds ago.
How the hell did he move that fast?
Sasuke didn't wait for anything else to happen, and back flipped away from the car, falling into an offensive stance and looking up at the attacker. A tall boy with a short ponytail was standing with his arms crossed in a relaxed stance at the edge of the top of the building in front of them.
“Kabuto.” Gaara growled, his voice even icier than usual.
“Sorry about the car, but we needed you distracted.” Kabuto smiled.
Distracted?
“Sasuke, look out!” Naruto lunged for him, his eyes trained on something behind him.
“Ahh!” Sasuke hand jumped to the back of his neck as someone stabbed him, trying frantically to smother the inferno that was flaring up at inhumane speeds on his flesh.
“Sasuke!” Naruto appeared above him out of nowhere, kicking the thing behind him backwards.
Sasuke's eyes were blurring, and he felt his knees buckle, the pain was too intense to see or hear anyone else. His fingernails tore at his skin and his other hand raked the pavement, trying to end the fire on his neck.
“Sasuke!” the voice was so far away, and Sasuke instinctively slashed at the hand that had been placed on his shoulder, but the person who was trying desperately to assure him that he was fine easily caught his attack.
His breath was jagged and harsh on his throat, and his hand was beyond bloodied from how he'd attacked the pavement, and everything was darker, heavier…
No, not this again. It was like that time, when Orochimaru had attacked, he'd felt so helpless and heavy, and everything was dark… just a blur… of unrecognizable… painful memories…
She was lying on her back, and her eyes stared up at the sky, but the world was spinning before her. It was heavy, her body felt like lead, and even though she could piece together that she was on her back, lying on the ground, she couldn't find where the ground was. Up or down, front or back, spinning or motionless, there was no difference now.
“Sasuka!”
Sasuka. Is that… me?—Sasuke moaned, no, that wasn't his name, but, it felt so… right—My name… who's calling me? It hurts… the baby… someone… help him… please… don't let him die…
“Sasuka! Hang on! Jesus, there's so much blood!”
“They got her stomach…”
“She's pregnant, do you think---”
“I don't know what to think yet, ok?! She looks pretty damndead to me, that's what I think!”
“She isn't dead!!”
“Calm down! Freaking out isn't helping, we need to get her back to the house!”
“Ok, everyone on three. One, two, three!”
She screamed at the pain, it hurt like more than anything she'd felt before. They were lifting her, and apologizing every time they jostled her and she cried out from the pain.
“Hold on, don't you dare let go!”
It was him, that golden hair…
Despite the pain, she couldn't help but smile. He's safe, thank god he's safe… thank god… thank… tha… th…
“Hey---hey! Don't close your eyes! Dammit! Sasuka!”
Not this again. He pleaded, and everything went black.

“But he'll be fine, right?!”
“For the last time brat, yes! He will be fine!”
Sasuke winced at the volume of the voice. The fire on his neck, it was gone. He groaned, forcing himself up, the covers falling off him as he did.
“Sasuke, you're awake!”
“Lay back down! Do you want to kill yourself!?”
That's Naruto… and Tsunade, what the hell is going on?
“What happened?” he reached up to rub the back of his neck. He could feel the wound where he'd been punctured, but he couldn't feel if there was any other marks or anything else on it.
“We got jumped by Kabuto and his dorm, remember?” Naruto sat down on the edge of his bed, looking him in the eye to see if he could remember.
Sasuke nodded with a “Hn” and looked around. He was in the school hospital, in the fifth building on the school grounds. He remembered wondering why they didn't just use the town hospital, but again, no one had told him the real reason, just like they hadn't told him why he was still stuck in a history class with only six other idiots.
“Where are they now?” he ground out, his voice rough and quieter than he'd liked.
“They would be expelled if they were here,” Tsunade growled, “but they aren't. I already sent someone up to check, their whole dorm had cleared out. Not even a hair was left for DNA tracking.” She said through gritted teeth. “Fighting is unavoidable at this school, but I would've had their hides for an attack like that.”
“Can I take him back to the dorm?” Naruto turned to her.
She winced at the thought, but then seemed to be considering it. “If you aren't too loud…”
“Yay! Thanks old hag!” he slid an arm around Sasuke's waist and pulled him up. Sasuke jumped at the sudden touch and how easily Naruto had been able to lift him off the bed and set him on his feet, but was forced to either fall over or lean into his human support, and quickly chose the latter.
“Not too loud!” Tsunade barked.
Naruto paused, staring up at Sasuke.
“What?” Sasuke snapped, though it lacked its usual harshness.
Naruto didn't even blink. “Hey, old hag?”
“Don't call me that, brat.” Tsunade snapped.
“What's this?” Naruto reached over and tapped where the wound was on Sasuke's neck, completely brushing over Tsunade's jab.
“What's what?” Sasuke almost groaned at how weak his voice sounded. Almost. Being an Uchiha forbade it.
“I've already taken a few samples of it while you were changing, I'll do some tests and should have some answers in a few days.” She told him, slipping Sasuke's files away into the filing cabinet.
“Hn.” Sasuke was too weak to demand that they explain… Wait… changing?
“How long was I out?” Sasuke demanded harshly, his grip tightening on Naruto's shoulder.
Naruto flinched, he had probably been hoping that Sasuke wouldn't ask.
“… Three days.” He finally said, but Sasuke could barely hear his voice it was so quiet.
“Three…” he blanched. Days?!
Naruto nodded apologetically.
“It isn't your fault, there was some kind of drug with whatever they attacked you with. Gaara said that it looked like a fang, but it sounds unlikely. There aren't a lot of animal fans out there that could leave a mark that size, unless you went back in time and did an extraction on a saber-tooth tiger.” Tsunade muttered the last bit to herself as Naruto walked Sasuke out the door.
Sasuke was numb, in more ways than one. He couldn't feel his brain. He'd been passed out for three days because he'd been careless and not noticed that someone had snuck up behind him, and what was worse was that he'd had another… vision again. They were getting more painful every time, everything he saw was a thousand times more painful than the one before it, and seemed even more personal than the one before it.
And every time I have one, I feel more and more like, that girl… is me.
Sasuke shook his head, only succeeding in rocking himself, but somehow, Naruto kept him upright.
Sasuke, Sasuka, there's obvious similarities, but—there was a simple nullifier to this argument—I'M A GUY!
“Watch out!”
Sasuke opened his eyes just in time to see a rock come rocketing towards his face. His arm jumped up out of instinct, but he was too weak to keep it there.
Well, it was nice having my right eye for this long. He thought dryly, when Naruto's hand flicked up faster than his eyes could keep track of and snagged the rigged rock from the air.
“Hey, watch it!” Naruto barked, whipping the rock back to where the person on the other side of the field waved an apology before catching it and turning back to their game of reflexes.
“You ok?” Naruto turned to him.
Sasuke grunted, but nodded anyway. How the hell do they move that fast?! I'll have to ask him later, I don't think I can handle one of Naruto's explanations right now.
“He's awake!” Kiba jumped from out of nowhere to Sasuke's other side, slinging Sasuke's other arm over his shoulder.
“Wait---!” Naruto jumped, looking like he was about to attack Kiba for being so reckless.
“Ok, on three.” Kiba smirked, and Naruto relaxed as it was obvious that Sasuke wasn't going to be hurt. “One, two, three!” On three, Kiba and Naruto ducked, knocked Sasuke's knees out from under him, acting as a chair as they lifted him, and took off for their dorm.
Sasuke could feel his breath increasing. The weight, the blurriness, the weakness… it was all too familiar, he was in a cold sweat, he hated the familiarity. He chuckled breathlessly. If his father saw him now, pathetic and weak, being carried when he could walk, he would have Sasuke's head. He and his parents had never been close, and even his relationship with Itachi was more of a friendship. It was obvious that Itachi was very protective and cared a great deal for his little brother, but Sasuke had always been fine with the privacy when he was alone.
His head dipped forward as the feeling of lead being pumped through his veins doubled nauseatingly.
“Get her inside!”
“What happened?”
“She was attacked, I think she's been hit in the gut.”
“Get her into the operating room, we might still be able to save her!”
Everything was so heavy. Blood. Drowning in blood. Someone help…
“No.” Sasuke moaned even before he knew the words were coming from his mouth.
“I think he's still a little delirious.” Kiba pointed out, slowing when he got to their door. He took Sasuke from Naruto—who very reluctantly let go—while Naruto opened the door.
“Sasuke's back!” he sang, throwing open the door.
Sakura came racing around the corner, knocking Naruto back into the hallway as she crashed into him.
“Thank god you're back!” she practically screamed. “Some weirdo came to the door asking for you, she forced her way in and said she'd wait when we told her that you weren't here! Gaara isn't here, we can't get her out, who is she, what is going on?!”
“Who is it?” Naruto asked, being the dunce that he was.
“Didn't I just say `I don't know'!?” Sakura smacked him across the head, and then pointed back into the dorm. “She's in the kitchen now!”
Naruto grabbed her protectively around the waist, angling himself in front of her and led her back inside. Sasuke growled at the sight, and blanched at what he'd done.
What is wrong with me?! Where the hell did that possessiveness come from?!
“Come on.” Kiba eased him forward, making sure Sasuke wouldn't hit the doorframe, and though it confused Sasuke to no end, he couldn't help but wish that Naruto was the one holding onto him. His brow furrowed.
All the pieces are in front of me… no, that can't be it. There's no way in hell. Just because I like him does not mean that he liked me at one point… before this time…
Naruto slowed and pressed himself against the wall, peaking slowly into the kitchen. He took a deep breath, nudged Sakura out of the way and jumped out into plain sight with a loud, “Yah!”
Naruto froze, and the key in his hand clattered noisily to the floor, but he didn't move.
Sasuke began to think himself that he was delirious. It was the girl from the picture in Naruto's bedroom, the girl with fox-red hair was sitting at their kitchen table, sipping tea casually. Eventually, her eyes found Naruto.
“What are you gaping at?” she asked flatly.
“Kyuubi!” Naruto launched himself, flying across the entire kitchen and sending the girl sprawling as he knocked into her. Hot tea soaked everyone in the kitchen and Sai had to jump over the two as the rolled across the floor. Kyuubi's hand shot out and locked onto the counter, stopping them before they hit the wall..
“What the hell, brat?!” she barked, her mouth clamping shut as Naruto threw his arms around her neck.
“What the hell, brat?!” she barked, her mouth clamping shut as Naruto threw his arms around her neck.
“I missed you!” he sang happily.
“…Me too kit.” she reached up and stroked his blonde locks, an amused smile pulling at her lips. She looked in turn to everyone, but when her eyes rested on Sasuke, they narrowed sharply and she seemed to sit up straighter. In point two seconds flat, she had pulled her and Naruto off the ground and was staring hard at Sasuke, trying to make sense of something.
“Uh, Kyuubi,” Kiba stuttered, “this is Sai, Neji, Hinata, Ino, Tenten, Sasuke, Lee, Shikamaru, Choji, and this is Sasuke.” He nodded to each person he spoke of in turn. Sasuke felt his knees wobble, and hoped that this would be over soon, he wasn't going to be able to stand much longer.
“…I see.” Kyuubi said quietly, her eyes had not left Sasuke yet.
Naruto looked up at her in shock. “You do?” he asked, almost in a hopeful way.
Kyuubi nodded. “I do.”
See what? Sasuke managed to think before the world went black before him. He chuckled again; yeah, his father would have his head if he'd ever seen something like this.
“Is she going to be alright?!”
“You need to leave! This room is sterilized, you can't be in here while we're operating!”
No, don't make him go, please don't make him go. She moaned heavily.
Sasuke shot up in bed, moaning as the world spun before him and he flipped off the bed with a small thud. His hands massaged the bump on his forehead as he pushed himself up. How long had he been asleep anyway? The walls weren't upside down anymore, so that must have been from just sitting up so fast after being asleep.
Asleep? He looked around. Oh yeah, I passed out again, they must have brought me here.
He groaned quietly, using the nightstand to pull himself to his feet. His muscles were really weak after not moving for three days, plus how ever long he'd been unconscious after falling back under.
He winced at the cold tile under his feet after leaving his room, but didn't stop. He was an Uchiha, he could deal with the cold.
“And you're sure it's really her?”
“Him Naruto, she's a boy now.”
“I know that Kyuubi! You haven't seen me for six years, I have grown up, you know!”
Sasuke pressed himself up against the wall to listen to their conversation. She's a he now, what the hell does that mean?
“Yes, I'm sure that it's her.” Kyuubi sighed, running her hands through her hair before sweeping it over her shoulders and winding it back into it's knot at the nape of her neck.
“What happened to `him'?” Naruto mocked her.
“I don't know the `he', I only knew the girl, so that's what I was calling him.”
“Hmph.” Naruto huffed.
After a good five minutes of silence, Sasuke considered walking into the kitchen for some food, when Kyuubi spoke again, another plain yet utterly baffling sentence.
“Has he started to remember yet?”
Naruto shook his head. “I don't think so, either that or he doesn't… want me anymore.”
“Hard to believe.” Kyuubi scoffed, pushing away from the table and yanking open the fridge, where she pulled out a water bottle filled with some sort of red liquid.
“Hey!” Naruto jumped up. “He hasn't remembered anything! Why the hell did you bring that in here?!”
“Shut up.” Kyuubi said blandly, unscrewing the top and sipping it. “Unless you want him to wake up.”
Sasuke swayed at the déjà vu, but forced his feet to stay rooted to the floor.
“And if he doesn't remember?” Naruto asked, shocking Sasuke by the sudden hopelessness that saturated his voice.
“……I'm waiting for an actual question.” Kyuubi said after a while.
“…What am I going to do Kyuu?” Naruto looked weakly up at her, his eyes almost brimming over with the tears that filled them.
Sasuke lurched forward as one of his first dreams hit him over the head again.
“Achoo!”
The girl lifted her head up, looking around. That was not her brother's voice. She warily stood, her eyes scanning the surrounding area.
“Achoo! Kyuu…?”
He swayed dangerously, loosing his grip on the doorframe.
She trotted through a small grove of trees, finding a small boy with golden hair in a small ponytail at the nape of his neck—just her age—in the snow, his arms wrapped around him as he shivered uncontrollably.
“Kyuu?!” the boy called louder, and promptly sneezed again, making himself fall over backwards.
She stepped carefully over to the boy, who hadn't risen from the snow. “Are… are you hurt?” she leaned over him.
The boy opened his eyes, looking weakly up at her. The girl's eyes narrowed; the boy's lips were blue, and he was shaking so bad that he was sending up flurries of snow around him, he had practically frozen to death. She untied the thick, dark blue cloak from around her shoulders, draping it over him as she helped him up.
“I'm Sasuka.” She told him, forcing a smile. Needless to say she wasn't too happy about him interrupting her play with her older brother, but as the boy smiled back at her, trust filling his eyes, her smile turned genuine.
~~~
“I'm coming brother.” She leaned into another room, searching for that golden hair, and sighing in frustration when he wasn't there. “I'm coming.”
~~~
Sasuka took her brother's arm as he led her down the stairs, her father doing the same with her mother. Sasuka's eyes flicked around the crowd of people in the ballroom, but nowhere did she see it… that citrine hair.
And then he was there, walking towards her and falling into a deep bow. Her brother was clearly shocked at how quickly he had approached them, but said nothing when Sasuka quickly dipped into a curtsy and took his hand, joining the rest of the dancers on the dance floor.
~~~
Sasuka smiled lightly. She didn't know how they matched; he was the sun, always bright and full of warm energy, while in contrast, she was the moon. Not necessarily cold, but mysterious, hidden, not as open or bubbly, and yet they fit together like puzzle pieces. Like how the night and day were meant to fit side by side, so were they.
~~~
“Is she going to be alright?!”
“You need to leave! This room is sterilized, you can't be in here while we're operating!”
No, don't make him go, please don't make him go. She moaned heavily.
“Please sir!” the doctor shoved him again. Her fiancé, he was really her fiancé.
Christ. She would have shaken her head if she could. Her mind sickened her to no ends when she was high on adrenalin like this, she was always thinking the wrong things, she was dying on a hospital table and she was thanking god that they were getting married and that she was having his baby.
The baby!! Her eyes wrenched open and she screamed, her adrenalin finally being cleared by that slap to the face so that she could feel the pain of her wounds again.
“Get her some anesthesia!” the doctor barked, and then tried to push him out the door again. That golden color… he was so important to her… who was it? She couldn't see… her vision was too blurry from the loss of blood… too much blood… like she was drowning in it…
“Please sir, you need to leave!”
“I can't---!”
“Shut up.” His older sister appeared behind him, cutting him off roughly. “Unless you want her to die.”
He froze, and then grabbed the doctor's collar, yanking him forward.
“If anything happens to her, it'll be your head. Just try me and see if I'm kidding.” He growled, in a voice so quiet she thought he'd become a demon.
“I will not let her die sir, now please go!”
“Move!” Sasuka's older brother took his hand and pulled him out. The doctor moved to shut the door, and his older sister stuck her foot in the way, leaning in closer. She looked purely menacing, and Sasuka felt her adrenalin levels rise again.
“Loosing your head is going to be a blessing compared to what I'm going to do if you let her die.” She threatened before yanking the door harshly shut. The doctor stood motionless before her words actually kicked in and he jumped into action, yanking on his gloves and barking for the nurses to join him at the table.
“Is she under?” he asked quickly, reaching for a blade.
“Yes, she wouldn't feel if you slit her throat.” A nurse nodded.
The doctor stiffened. “Don't joke about that, they think I am going to, so I don't need any useless rumors started. Ten-blade!” he barked suddenly.
Sasuka could feel anything. They hadn't had anything stronger, so she was awake, but even though she could see the blade slipping easily into her flesh, she couldn't feel anything.
“The baby…” she moaned, her voice sounding like it was being dragged over sandpaper.
“We're going to start with the baby.” the doctor told her gently. “We need to perform a C-section to get to the main source of your wound. Alright?”
Sasuka nodded meekly, trying not to hyperventilate. No, she was stronger than this, she would endure.
Meanwhile
“How did it go?” the man smirked.
“Everything went as planned.” Silver hair could be seen glinting in the light of the single candle in the room, it flickered as it sputtered for life, drowning in the wax. “The seal has never failed once, you will be able to find him at any time.”
The man smirked, his fangs poking over his sickly looking lips. “Good. Good.” He looked over to the chains on the walls and the operating tables covered in dried blood and rust.
“Ku, ku, ku.” He chuckled. “Sasuke, I'll be coming for you soon, my sweet.”
The candle flickered one last time, and went out with a small puff, leaving the room in total darkness. A small wisp of smoke rose sinisterly into the air.
Woo! Long! I finally said, “Enough! This is a to-be-continued! So sorry my audience, but it has to be!”
