“What is courage? Is it the absence of having fear or is it the strength to do what you have to do even if you are afraid?” –Kaoru Kitsune, 4th Inukage of Paradiseo
Juubei’s form was that of a man, a man who’d sewn himself together. His chest was a mash of stitch work; on his right shoulder was a horizontal scar held down by staples, over his heart was an ‘x’ shaped scar sewn shut, half way down his neck was a scar as if he’d been decapitated and his head sewn back on, both of his arms looked like they’d been sewn onto his shoulders, down the center of his chest was a vertical line of stitch work as if he’d been dissected and put back together. Almost every part of Juubei looked as if he’d been assembled out of completely random parts, some sections of his skin was even different tones. Juubei chuckled behind his mask as he took in the horrified expression on Kuroudo’s fox-like face.
“What’s wrong Fox?” Juubei howled in glee as he rushed towards Kuroudo, “It’s just me!”
Kuroudo swung his fist into Juubei’s face was a resounding crunch, Kuroudo could feel Juubei’s skull cave in with the force of the impact. Then Juubei swung his fist into Kuroudo’s gut, Kuroudo was lifted above Juubei’s head and into the sky. He looked down at Juubei; the right side of his head was collapsed in and blood was oozing from his shattered cranium. Juubei swung his other arm up at Kuroudo and his hand launched from the wrist guided by a solid mass of the bell wires; it clamped shut around Kuroudo’s neck.
“357.” Juubei said cruelly as he swung Kuroudo around in the air and slammed him through several buildings and dragged him along the ground; the grinding action tore open large gashes all along Kuroudo’s body. Then Juubei jerked Kuroudo towards himself and as the wounded boy flew towards him Juubei cocked his free hand back and punched Kuroudo’s head off. As blood painted the sky Juubei howled out laughing, “IS THAT ALL YOU CAN DO!!!?”
As if on cue one of Kuroudo’s paw-like hands shot out of the ground and gripped Juubei’s ankle, and pulled. A wide area seemed to burst apart and a twenty foot crater opened up with Kuroudo gripping Juubei’s ankle now suspended about mid-depth, the headless corpse Juubei held in his hand melted into blood and returned to Kuroudo’s body.
“DEATH OF A TRAITOR!” Kuroudo screamed in rage as he drove his right hand through Juubei’s chest and with his left hand he drew the revolver and jammed the barrel against Juubei’s chin. He squeezed the trigger and as the hammer struck the bullet’s primer he screamed, “DIE JACKAL!”
Juubei’s head was obliterated by the heavy slug; Kuroudo pulled his hand from Juubei’s chest. As he landed he grinned, too easy! There wasn’t a whole lot of blood, but I pierced his heart and I fired my revolver directly into his brain. And with these .44 magnum 250 grain jacketed hollow points I use, nothing should be able to survive the lobotomy this thing deals out!
“358 and 359.” Juubei’s corpse said; the headless, heartless corpse of Juubei Kentoko was talking. “Did you hear me Kenji!? I’m up to 359 already!”
“Really; it’s that high already?” Kenji howled out with a tone of amusement on his voice, “you should be more careful my friend!”
Juubei’s body stood up; there was a gaping hole where his head once was. Kuroudo watched as the corpse walked towards him as if nothing was wrong, a walking corpse. There wasn’t a lot of blood, despite the decapitation and the fist sized hole where the heart belonged. Then Kuroudo’s eyes widened once he realized what Juubei had done.
“You truly are a monster.” Kuroudo said with fear on his voice as he narrowed his gaze at Juubei, “And a genius of unmatched caliber, your genius matches your madness Jackal. Only you’d be willing to try something so radical.”
Momoko stared at Pain; neither of them moved, it was like their battle had degenerated into a staring contest. She cracked her neck, and cocked the hammer on her revolver; slowly Momoko aimed the weapon at Pain’s forehead. The man didn’t even flinch at the large handgun aimed at him; he just stared into Momoko’s eyes with his freakish ones.
“Are you planning to roll over and die without showing any techniques?” Momoko said dully as she fired a bullet right next to Pain, “Or do think I’m not worth the effort?”
“You’re obviously the weakest of the three, so I’m waiting for you to make all your moves.” Pain calmly informed her.
“Hmm, Miho’s the weakest of the three of us. Kuroudo’s the strongest, but I’m…” Momoko paused to let a smile spread across her face as she holstered her revolver and took out more bells. The bells shot off and imbedded themselves into the walls of the alley. Momoko’s grin left her face and her expression became a somber mask, “the most feared. Ninja art: Bell-wire weave; Disaster Piece!”
The wires danced around Momoko as she slid off her shoes. Her bare feet stepped on what looked like air but she was lifted upwards, as if she was walking up an invisible staircase. She looked down on Pein from three stories up; she’d used the wires to get above him.
“What’s this now?” Pain said calmly as he watched as more wires began to dance around the alley; strangely none seemed to be trying to slice at him but they were definitely moving with purpose. From what Juubei had told him the wires required a frightening amount of chakra to manipulate and even more was required to use them to slice and even more still to make them explode so Momoko’s little display had a very good point to every little movement involved.
“I’m a trap master, and you’re retarded enough to stand right where I want you.” Momoko said cruelly as she snapped her fingers, “Disappear.”
Rock Lee swung at Kenji, but the faceless warrior quietly dodged each punch and kick. Kazuko’s strikes with her bayonets weren’t landing either. Their battle was going nowhere fast; Kazuko’s leg was badly damaged and it slowed her down considerably but the real problem was that she couldn’t see Kenji’s eyes so she couldn’t read his moves.
“You two are cute.” Kenji chuckled as he kicked out Kazuko’s knee, “But you really aren’t cut out to face me. I am Kenji Akabane, the Corpse Bird! Master of tactics and taijutsu! I’m much older and I’m far more experienced then you.”
Rock Lee untied his bandages and ran at Kenji. Lee skipped just opening the first gate; Kenji was too strong for just that. “SECOND GATE OPEN!”
Kenji jumped back, The Lotus! This kid’s got the Lotus!? He’s more interesting than I thought, perfect!
Lee kicked at Kenji’s hat, but Kenji easily blocked the blow with his arms. Lee jumped away in shock at how easily Kenji had blocked the lotus. Kenji however was already behind him; Kenji’s leg slammed against Lee’s back, sending Lee down the street and into a wall. Kenji stood up straight, and started chuckling the visage he imposed on the younger ninjas was that of a devil or a madman ready to finish his helpless victims.
“Is this all you can do even with the gates open?” Kenji said mockingly as he stalked forward, behind him Kazuko tried to stand. When she tried to support her weight on her broken leg she fell back to the ground with a yelp of pain. Kenji turned and looked at her, “You should stay down, and give up. No mere Chuunin could ever beat me, even if she has a bowl-cut reject backing her up.”
“Did you hear that Lee?” Kazuko said calmly as she raised one of her bayonets high into the air; she showed no fear on her somber face. “He thinks brainless beasts like you and I will run when faced with death!”
Kazuko’s expression became one of insane glee as the rain washed down her raised bayonet and she grinned wide as a flash of lightning allowed her to catch a mere glimpse of Kenji’s face; the true battle was only beginning, now came the reckless abandon that had made the warriors of Paradiseo so feared. Kazuko was throwing her life on the line to end Kenji; it was now either victory or death, there was no in between anymore in this battle.
“Wha?” Lee said in dull horror as he watched Kazuko jam the bayonet through her broken leg to make a splint; causing blood to erupt from the leg and Lee could hear the sickening crack of the bone splitting but Kazuko only smiled wider at Kenji.
“I told you we ninja of Paradiseo don’t retreat, even if we destroy our bodies we fight…” Kazuko said proudly as she managed to finally stand up, although unsteady she stood tall and pointed her remaining bayonet at Kenji, “To the death. To one like me it is victory or the end of my very existence. Lee surely you have something you can’t let end here, that which you’re willing to face Death itself to protect. This is that time! I just need you to get his hat off so I can see his eyes and read his movements, if you can do that I can kill him! I don’t care how you do it, but I need to see his eyes. I may be a mere Chuunin, a mere communications technician, but I am still a warrior of Paradiseo! If there’s one thing that I can do good with my useless self it is kill other people!”
“No little un-loved failure of a child could ever knock my hat off!” Kenji leaned back and he howled out laughter to the crying sky as he screamed to Lee and Kazuko, “Just look at that DORK! I don’t believe he’s even a NINJA!”
Lee stood up and took out Kazuko’s sake bottle. Master Guy, Everyone, I… will knock of his man’s hat and prove my ninja way. Lee took the stopper off the bottle and drank it down, the whole bottle. He also crossed his arms in front of his face.
“Third gate OPEN!” Lee shouted as his skin turned color and the alcohol started to take effect; it was all or nothing now, all of Kazuko and Lee’s chips were thrown into the pot for one last gamble on a slim and remote chance of victory.
“Juubei, what have you done to yourself?” Kuroudo said in horror as he watched as the strings danced and wove together to form a framework like object for Juubei’s head; like a building under construction. Then his hair reappeared and then the mask, the hole in his chest closed back up.
“Why dear Kuroudo, I merely chased the shadow cast by your family; to be an immortal monster.” Juubei’s jaw moved behind his mask as he spoke and his head completed its reformation, “To get technical I turned my body into the bell wires. I replaced my organs with masses of the bells, my skin I ground into bell wires. I am the bell wires now, I am in complete control of my body what you see is what I want you to see.”
“Kuroudo,” Temari said nervously as she looked down into the hole, she stared at Kuroudo and Juubei, “I’m coming down to help you.”
“No, you’ll stay where you are; you’re far to injured to last in a fight against Juubei.” Kuroudo said calmly as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, when he exhaled he said, “And I don’t want you to get torn to shreds when I go to one hundred percent. You’ve done very well, if you want to help…”
“Yes?” Temari said weakly as she watched as Kuroudo turned to her and gave her a big happy grin, a smile that told her everything would be alright.
“Cheer me on; remind my insane mind what I’m fighting for.” Kuroudo said confidently as he turned to Juubei and he launched himself foreword at a frightening speed; if Kazuko was going to lay her life on the line and go all in then it was only fair that Kuroudo do the same. He stopped in front of Juubei with his fists ready, “Dragon’s fist dance; forty sessions in Spring Season.”
Kuroudo threw the first punch into Juubei’s ribs which shattered like balsa wood from the extreme impact; Kuroudo was punching with the double layered dragon fist which meant each blow was enough to liquefy a human body. Kuroudo’s arms became unintelligible blurs as he punched Juubei at untraceable speeds, the impacts destroyed the ground behind Juubei; it was like the force of the impacts was trying to dig through Konoha. When Kuroudo finally stopped punching he grabbed onto Juubei’s head with his right ‘paw’.
“PYTHON EMBRACE!” Kuroudo howled as his fingers crushed Juubei’s enhanced skull like an egg and he heaved; he threw Juubei with all his might through the hole’s wall, the giant man’s body dug a tunnel through at least three square blocks of the city. Kuroudo tensed up into a fighting posture and howled defiantly to his foe, “C’mon Juubei, this isn’t even the beginning of our battle!”
“Eighty percent!!” Juubei screamed and a city block went up in a massive explosion as millions of bell wires danced into the sky, a giant dust cloud launched toward Kuroudo as Juubei went on the offensive. Juubei burst out of the wall and with his impossible fist he punched through Kuroudo’s chest, “IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I’VE BEEN PUSHED SO FAR!!”
Kuroudo grabbed Juubei’s arm and tore it out of his chest and slammed Juubei into the ground with a thunderous crash; breaking the giant’s freakish neck but surely not truly killing the monster. Pain began to grip Kuroudo’s mind as he bled out through the hole where his left lung belonged; he was in bad shape, the wound wasn’t closing.
“I am not going to die here!” Kuroudo screamed as he vomited blood and sank to one knee, a look of rage plastered on his animalistic face, “I’ve come too far!”
“Really boy what have you accomplished take is worthy of note?” Juubei said dully as he punched into Kuroudo’s gut and tore his hand back out amidst a torrent of blood. Juubei watched as Kuroudo’s blood poured out of the open wound; Juubei stood up and looked down on Kuroudo’s shocked face, “You’ve merely brought yourself to a writhing death at my knees, fox.”
Kuroudo came to rest on the ground and he closed his tired eyes. What have I accomplished? Is the pain worth it? Am I really the monster everyone has always said I was? A useless beast whose only function is that of murder, an experiment that was better off dead!? I’ve always seen that look in their eyes, they see me as a beast, a monster, someone to hate, to hunt down, deny my right to even exist!? Why!? Why!? Why am I so hated? What’s my purpose? Everyone hates me, so many hunted me when I was young, why do I fight for them? Kuroudo heard a voice, it was Momoko’s; I don’t hate you, Kuroudo. You’ve saved my life so many times now; I never actually thought knights existed! Kuroudo, if you need a reason to fight… It’s to prove those who hated you wrong. You may not think it but more people love you then you think; you have many friends. Anasake, Yoh, Miho, Saito, Kitty, Kazuko, Gaara, Temari and me; if you need a reason to fight… It’s to prove to us you’re worth our friendship.
“I am a monster, and monsters can only be killed by men.” Kuroudo said weakly as he opened his eyes and directed his gaze toward Juubei who was walking away, “Ninety percent.”

Why hello there reader! Wow did this chapter take forever; I was waiting on Pein in the manga. I need more info for Momoko’s battle against him, anyway. Lee’s drunk and using the lotus, that’ll be fun. Sasuke’s fighting the terror that is Menos. Toku and Kakuzu are off in la-la land right now. Miho’s going against Itachi, that’ll be fun to write =/. And Kuroudo is going to 90% of his power to face Juubei. Wonderful, why do I create so much work for myself? To try to entertain you of course!
