A/N's: This is the last and final chapter of this fic. I promise to write some more Hinata/Kiba, but this one is getting stale and I want to finish up some other fics before refocusing on this character pairing. Thanks for those of you that stuck with me throughout the story.

Chapter 4: Hinata's Strength
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sasuke stood at Hinata's left and Kiba at her right. The kunoichi was presented to her father by the servants, just another of the ways that her family was so separated by foolish formalities that were no longer needed.
“What do you need Hinata?” Hiashi asked, seemingly annoyed at his daughter's presence.
Hinata gulped in a breath of air and searched the area to her right for Kiba's hand, hoping that the dog-nin's strength could be transferred to her as she confronted her father. Sasuke only glared at the arrogant Hyuuga that sat before them, not realizing that his own ego sometimes mirrored the man that was in front of him.
Hiashi watched as his daughter's fingers found and clasped the Inuzuka man's hand, gripping the dog-nin tight as Hinata prepared to speak. It confused Hiashi and he focused on the uncaring man who was supposed to be his daughter's fiancé. “What is the meaning of this, Sasuke?” he bellowed.
“Your daughter is here to speak to you, not I. If you want to know, then you best listen to her,” the Uchiha heir returned, with a hint of smug anger in the undertones of his voice. Shino was standing behind the three other people with Akamaru and Neji. The bug-nin quietly snickered at Sasuke's petulance toward the Hyuuga clan leader.
“Father, I'm engaged,” Hinata started quietly.
“Yes, I know you are, and you are to be married very shortly,” Hiashi snapped back.
“No, not to Sasuke…to Kiba,” she corrected her father.
Hiashi glowered at his daughter, not believing that he was hearing this. Hinata was supposed to unite the most powerful clans in Konoha, allowing the Hyuuga's to become even more influential and commanding over the happenings of the Hidden Leaf village. As much as Hiashi hated to admit this, Hinata's ability to use the Byakugan made her not only the heir, but the most logical choice to pair the Uchiha youngster up with. This would not be ruined by some foolish love-stricken pup who thought he could steal Hinata away.
“Leave, you Inuzuka scum, you do not deserve my daughter.”
Sasuke and Kiba both wanted to step forward and argue with the man before them, but this wasn't their fight. Hinata had told them both before they entered the Hyuuga mansion that she was the one who would speak, she would be the one who convinced her father to let her have control of the clan.
“No, he stays, father. Kiba is the man I love and it isn't fair that you use me and see me only as some bargaining chip that is at your disposal,” Hinata spoke fiercely, with much passion as she defended her teammate.
Hiashi was shocked, as much as he never showed it, the Hyuuga clan leader did care deeply for his daughter. Yes, he had used her as a bargaining tool of sorts, but that was because she had a duty to her clan, one that was clear from the day she was born as the heiress to the Hyuuga's main branch.
“You have a duty…”
“I have a duty to the Hyuuga's,” Hinata interrupted, “And honestly father, this is my clan. You may have it now, but I am the one that will receive it from you.”
Hiashi scoffed, “Not if I remove you from it.”
Hinata smiled knowingly, “And if you do that, then none of this really matters…a marriage to Sasuke would be a moot point, because I wouldn't be a Hyuuga anymore.”
Hiashi realized that this was true. It was Hinata's clan, and if he removed her from it there would be no union between the Hyuugas and Uchihas. “So what exactly are you saying or asking, Hinata? You'll have to excuse me, but I'm rather confused to why you are doing this.”
The older man watched the group in front of him as the men that surrounded Hinata focused on her, because they knew what she was going to say next, and it was something that surely Hiashi would object to.
“I want to start my leadership role now,” Hinata stated drying, locked into a staring contest with her own father, desiring dominance over the Hyuugas for herself.
“You want to lead the clan? An unwed woman has no right to step up into that position, and you think you can waltz in and have the Hyuuga's at your disposal. You know you would be laughed away by the elders.”
Hinata shook her head, “Not if you stood by me, father. I know they wouldn't object if you agreed.”
Hiashi had always thought that his daughter was weak, but had to admit that for a weak woman she had made it remarkably far in the world of the ninja. She was a jonin, an ANBU member, she had students of her own which she taught at the academy, and she was well-respected by her peers and the other ninja of the village. The only ones who didn't recognize the strength Hinata had acquired was her own family.
“Don't you see, Hinata, this is for the Hyuugas?” her father asked her quietly, “We must do what is best for our clan, and sometimes that means great sacrifice…things that we would never want to do.”
Sadness painted itself onto Hiashi's face. Hinata knew of the things her father had forfeited, giving up his closest friend in the entire world for the sake of their clan, allowing his own brother to be killed. It was something that hurt and hardened the heart of the Hyuuga clan leader, as it would to anyone that had to make such a sacrifice. Hinata knew that she didn't want that to happen to her. She didn't want to become a shell, only a puppet for others to control. The Hyuuga heiress wanted to lead truly and give back to her clan all that was taken from them. It had been too long since the minority had even considered the majority of the rest of her clan…she would rectify this.
“I will lead father, not follow. You have followed for too long, and therefore I challenge you for clan leadership. I'll fight you if I have to in an official clan stake, but I warn you, you're old and out of practice and I'm most definitely not.”
Hiashi watched as Hinata raised a knowing eyebrow, showing confidence in the power she had. There was much to say about time making you wise, but it also made you rusty. All the tricks and knowledge in the world wouldn't really help him if Hiashi decided to duel his own daughter, there was no doubt in his mind that the only thing he would win was hurt pride and public humiliation.
“Why are you doing this, Hinata?” Hiashi asked as he allowed an exasperated sigh to cross his lips.
“Because it is time for things to change, no more pain…no more betrayal or subjugation of our own family. No more main branch…a Hyuuga is a Hyuuga.”
Neji grinned at that last part, Hinata was opening the cage that bound him to his family, and she was doing it quite eloquently in his opinion.
“No…”
“Yes, father. None of this is negotiable.” Hinata sucked in a nervous breath. She sounded confident, but the kunoichi's heart and mind were racing madly as she gripped Kiba's hand in her own. She was terrified that her father would refuse, or throw Hinata out just to spite her, regardless of whether or not they would lose the union to the Uchihas.
“I know you, father…I know your heart. This is something that you want as well. Help me be the person to do this.”
Hiashi thought for a moment, and then gave his answer, “No…”
Hinata immediately interrupted, “But father…”
“Listen Hinata, I have considered what you said and now you must listen to your elder,” Hiashi ordered as he silenced his daughter.
“You are not ready to take over a clan, you are too young and too inexperienced,” Hiashi began. Hinata watched as a small smile crept onto her father's lips, “But that doesn't mean that you will be that way forever. If you truly want to be leader, then you must let me train you more arduously, and in a few years when I decide the time is right, I will hand over the responsibility to you.”
Hinata grinned, but then remembered her engagement, “And Kiba?”
Her father sighed, it was definitely something the man wished he could change, but Hinata was stubborn, and she would leave if he didn't agree to this concession. “How does Sasuke feel about this?”
“Your daughter is in love with Kiba, and I also am in love with someone else, therefore I am in complete agreement with Hinata,” Sasuke replied quickly, stressing his own desire to break off the engagement.
Hinata, Sasuke, and Kiba anxiously waited for Hiashi's answer, and received it as the older man gave a resentful nod. Kiba shouted and scooped up Hinata in his arms, hugging her tightly and kissing her before anyone could object…well, until Hiashi came and physically pried Kiba off of Hinata.
“You will treat my daughter with respect, and you will most definitely need to be trained on appropriate displays of affection. You will never do such a thing in the presence of me or the other Hyuuga elders again,” Hiashi growled at the dog-nin.
Hinata giggled, if it meant that she could be with Kiba, remaining appropriately distanced from her fiancé in the presence of her family was definitely a small concession which the kunoichi would be willing to make.
“You are dismissed,” Hiashi muttered to the group as he sat down, waving Hinata over to him as the men of the group and Akamaru left.
“Yes?” Hinata asked, hoping that her father wouldn't withdraw any of his decisions now that her friends were gone.
“Tomorrow morning you will report to the main conference room of the Hyuuga offices, you start training with me. I expect you to keep up on your ninja duties as well. These will be very busy times for you,” he told her and then gave Hinata a warm smile. “I trust that you will keep your promises to change what we have broken.”
“Yes father, I will,” Hinata told him before leaning down and giving her father a hug.
Kiba carried Hinata in his arms, trying not to stumble as they made it into the bedroom Hinata's small manor, which was located directly east of the main manor.
“Damn this place is huge,” Kiba gawked as he examined the master bedroom, his wife giggling in his arms. The two had just returned from their honeymoon and it was time to christen their new shared living quarters.
“You'll get used to it,” Hinata told her lover and husband as Kiba took her over to the large western style bed on the far side of the room.
Kiba laid Hinata on the bed and walked over the fireplace, “Wow, even a personal fireplace, would you like me to start it?”
“I would like my husband to join me in bed, please?” Hinata asked, with a mischievous glint in her milky pale eyes.
Kiba grinned, he had always thought that he was one of the more insatiable people in Konoha, but that was before he and Hinata slept together that first night after they were married. She was obviously trying to make up for lost time as she quickly became intimately acquainted with her husband. Kiba wasn't complaining, he love being with Hinata, clothes or no clothes, making love or making breakfast…anything as long as he was with her.
“So, shall we break in bed?” Kiba asked with a smirk.
“Yes, now get over here,” Hinata ordered while pointing at the empty spot beside her.
Kiba complied, hopping on the bed and leaning down to claim his wife's lips with his own. “Mmm…you still taste like honey,” Kiba murmured into her skin.
“Still? Hmm, I'll have to thank your mother for those cookies, they were delicious.”
Hinata was referring to the honey snacks that Kiba's mother had insisted that Hinata take with her on their honeymoon. The Inuzuka woman smiled knowingly as she handed the Hyuuga girl a bag and told her that honeymoons don't leave time for meals, so bringing snacks were very important.
Hinata's own mother had died when she was younger, so there was no one to tell her about what to expect on her wedding night (honestly Hinata didn't really need it clarified since she had friends like Sakura and Ino who kindly explained sex in finite detail to her), but it was really sweet of Kiba's mom to have a mother/daughter talk with her before she left on the trip. Hinata appreciated Kiba and his family…they were her family now, and Kiba had the Hyuugas. Honestly, the Hyuuga heir thought she definitely received the better end of that deal.
Kiba lipped Hinata's earlobe playfully, stopping to nip her neck after she released a small gasp. Kiba loved hearing his wife's voice or any other assortment of sounds Hinata would care to make. It was almost a game for him to try and get her worked into a complete frenzy, crying his name or moaning into his skin. He loved that. Any position where they could make love slow and hold each other tightly was Kiba's first pick, because he loved the intimate feeling and the connection they shared during sex. This was what marriage was supposed to be like, being with the one that you loved…the one that you couldn't live your life without. That was exactly how Kiba felt about Hinata.
“I love you,” Kiba reasserted for about the hundredth time today, kissing Hinata's neck and starting to help her out of the vacation clothing she was still wearing. They had traveled to the ocean, renting a small cottage on the shore where they spent a passionate week together, becoming acquainted with one another's bodies until Hinata and Kiba new every millimeter of their partner's flesh.
I love you too, Kiba,” Hinata said while kissing the dog-nin's forehead and raking her fingernails through his wild and tangled hair.
The clothing they wore was quickly divested to the side of the bed and Kiba lowered himself onto the porcelain Goddess beneath him, allowing himself to slowly explore each crevice and dip of her skin while skimming his finger over a few flawed areas. It worried him to know that his wife had battle scars, not because the marred flesh wasn't beautiful, but because it meant that she was a ninja…and ninja were powerful, deadly, and lived hard and died young.
Kiba never wanted to be without Hinata, never.
“Why so worried, love?” the Hyuuga woman asked as she pulled Kiba's face down to hers and kissed him passionately.
“Nothing…just thinking about the lives we lead,” he murmured with a sad smile.
“Together we will be just fine, so don't worry Kiba,” Hinata reassured him.
Strong hands slowly swept along the cambers of Hinata's stomach, reaching down and pulling the young woman's legs further apart to give Kiba full access to her. The two didn't use a pregnancy seal or a condom, no…if a family happened, then it was meant to be. A child was something that both Kiba and Hinata wanted, so they had decided before the wedding that they would try.
Kiba teased Hinata with playful fingers, making her writhe and moan beneath him. It made him want her even more, slowly Kiba positioned himself at her entrance and pushed inside as he kissed and loved Hinata as much as he could. He showed her this with his mouth, his hips, his hands…every part of him that could convey the feeling of love that Kiba had for his wife did.
Hinata panted quickly and Kiba thrust skillfully in her, kissing and torturing her with pleasure that she'd become quickly addicted to. He was very good at this, but had also taught her well during the week on the beach. Kiba moaned as Hinata expertly flexed the muscles which contracted around her husband's length as he thrust into her.
They were both close…so very close. Kiba kissed Hinata's lips again as the Hyuuga woman dug sharp fingernails into the dog-nin's back, trying to stay composed for just a moment longer…just a second more…one more thrust…
Kiba shuddered as Hinata tightened around him, her own orgasm milking one from Kiba as well. Kiba spasmed in completion, releasing long threads of semen into his wife's womb. The two remained clasped together kissing and talking quietly, blissfully unaware that they had just conceived their first child.
Hinata was strong, and Kiba always stood by her side. It had been Hinata's choice to live a life with a man who she loved…to live a life free of restraints and pain. The Hyuugas grew and mirrored her strength, and for that Hinata was grateful, it made everything worthwhile.
