Prologue
The leafless trees swayed in the bitter wind. The snow would come in small soft flurries. Farther out in the woods a loud thumping sound could be heard.Beads of sweat rolled down Hinata’s cheeks. Hinata once again swung the axe. The small frail tree fell to the ground with a loud crash. Then Hinata started to chop the tree into smaller pieces.
Hinata had been on a D-ranked mission the whole day. Gathering fire wood for the upcoming festival wasn’t her kind of picnic, but she of course wouldn’t ever say no to her Sensei. So there she was gathering fire wood working up a sweat ,while Kiba and Shino were probably in a nice warm house.
Hinata shivered as an even stronger gust of wind blew past her. It seemed like the wind was slicing through her bones.
She couldn’t be down hearted though because she would ask Naruto to the festival in a while.
What could ruin this day for her? She finally decided to get past her fears of being embarrassed.
Hour after hour passed until it was quitting time for Hinata. She sneezed as she pushed the wagon full of branches toward Kohana.
After a few minutes of walking. She sensed a dreadful presence. Blood lust filled the air and time seemed to stand still. They sky went blood red and the sun seemed to turn an even darker red.
Even though she was afraid she dropped the cart and raced toward her village. The presence was getting stronger and more frightful with each step.
The beating of the poor girls heart was getting quick and irregular. No, I can’t be afraid! Her whole mind was screaming at her to run the other way as fast as she could. But she disobeyed, she wasn’t going to run away. Even though that feeling engulfed her. The feeling of death.
“N-Naruto,” Hinata whispered.
