Hello everyone, and welcome to my first fanfic posted here! ^___^ I must state that I do not own Naruto or any of its characters (as sad as that is). This is only the first chapter and it will be continued once I'm not to lazy to type up the next chapter haha. Also this story takes place sometime during the Shippdun series

“I hate you.”
The Sharp Kunai ripped across her eyes and the bridge of her nose as her attacker lunged forward. Blood was trickling down her cheeks, falling on the muddy ground. She couldn't see it. Panic wrapped its icey fingers around her heart as she fell forward into the coming darkness. She couldn't see anything now.
“Now he'll love me…not you.”
The words faded in the distance as she was left there on the cold forest floor, engulfed in the never ending darkness

Sakura's hands gripped the branch beneath her as she listened, waiting to make her move. It had been three years. Three years, two months, six days, eleven hours, two minutes, and 34 seconds, but who was counting? There are more important thing to focus on. Like the quiet footsteps of her prey approaching. She'd have no idea…In a flash Sakura was on top of the red head, listening as her glasses fell, being crunched under the girls back due to the force that Sakura was using to push her down. Sakura had her pinned completely, weapons pouch far from reach.
“You should be more careful.” Sakura's hair fell in front of her face as she spoke, raising her kunai above her. “After all, you never know when the past will come back to get you, Karin.”
“Killing me wont change anything,” the fallen konichi grit out, desperately trying to buy herself some time.
“You're right,” Sakura smirked, feeling the girl's body relax slightly under her. Her lips spread into a grin as she raised her weapon higher to strike, more than ready to let it taste the flesh of this child. “But it would make me feel so much better.”
Sakura's movements were halted when she sat up, listening to the footsteps that approached their small clearing. Unlike Karin's they were heavier and more carefully placed. Sakura seethed at the interruption, jumping back from the trembling mess of a konichi, landing silently in the covering of a tree. She could only watch with sick amusement as the newest figure emerged.
“Who attacked you?” His voice was its normal, calm tone. The coldness in it had yet to disappear through all these years. His blood red eyes carefully scanned the surrounding area, instantly coming across a familiar chakra. But who was it? It wasn't someone he could easily recognize. “What Village are yo-”
“Hidden in the Leaf,” She should have laughed at his startled expression. Her speed must have caught him off-guard due to the way his eyes moved frantically, trying to find who he thought was no threat at all. She didn't repress her new smirk as she landed silently behind him, his body freezing at the sudden contact of her kunai on the back of his neck.
“Sakura…” He didn't turn to face her. She was apparently no threat to him even with his back turned. He never failed to know how to piss her off. The knuckles of her hand turned white as she gripped her kunai harder before his voice drew her attention back to him. “When'd you get so fast?”
“I picked up a new training method a few years back.”
She could only smile a hallow smile when he whipped around to face her and went silent. Her appearance was pitiful at best. Her hair was short and choppy, obviously neglected in these last few years. Her clothes were old and torn, looking no better than beggars clothing. It appeared she carried no other weapons than the kunai in her hand. This girl was a stranger to him. The only thing resembling her former self was the headband that was now tied around those vibrant green eyes. She kept it even though she had never found her way back to the place she once loved the most. But why was it covering her eyes from him?
His hands reached slowly out, making sure she was unaware of the movement. The second his fingers touched the cool metal he hissed in pain, pulling back his now wounded hand. Her kunai gleamed with his blood, dripping it in soft patterns on the ground that only she could hear. Karin could only watch helplessly in the background as the scene unfolded.
“What happened?”
“Kunai,” Short and simple. She'd get her revenge on her own; she didn't need his help or his pity.
“I told you she wouldn't tell.” A new voice filled the wind around them, a voice new to this scene but old to Sakura's tattered heart. She moved quickly, barely escaping Sasuke's lunge as she held her Kunai tighter in her hands. She located him the instant he stepped back, her body already right in front of him. She could feel the cool press of his kunai against her neck and she was sure he could feel the same. Her hand instantly shot out to touch the headband tied proudly to his forehead.
“Naruto…”
“Sakura…” His free hand was mimicking hers, tracing over her own worn out headband. She knew he wouldn't remove it, the scar on his right hand already speaking testimony to the only time he'd tried. She had seen him a handful of times these last few years, always coming up with new reasons not to come back to that place she once called home.
“Why are you with Sasuke?”
“We're here to take you back.”
All of them noticed the change in her demeanor the second the words left his mouth. Before they could react she was running, already in front of Sasuke by the time they noticed what was happening. Her fingers shot out to touch the metal of his head band before moving to do the same to Karin. Her fingers twitched as the imprints registered in her mind. All had the hidden in the leaf symbol…even Karin. A dry, hallow laugh escaped her throat as she stood eye to eye (AN: I know I'm horrible for putting this haha) with the deceptive konichi. Sakura's head tilted to the side as if she were observing the girl in front of her.
“My replacement?”
“We could never replace you Sakura-Chan!”
“Have you told them?” Her face was deadly serious and Karin could only imagine the glare she would be receiving if Sakura was capable of giving one. Sakura prayed she would move; try to attack her, anything that would give her a reason to slay this girl. But she didn't need a new reason. This girl already gave her one. “Is this was all of it was for?!”
In seconds they were on the ground again, Sakura once again ready to take this girls life. She had waited long enough to let Karin feel the cool bite of her kunai across her skin, the very kunai that had made Sakura the woman that stood before them. To learn that she had become this way just so Karin could make Sasuke come home, just so that outsider could join the village. It made Sakura angry to know that Karin the only things she had ever wanted in these three years; her home, her friends, and her sight.
As Sakura moved to lower the kunai she cried out, long claws of a tiger sinking into her skin as she was pushed over. She gasped under the weight of the creature as she began to fight back. Sasuke was holding Naruto back from saving her as Sai controlled his animal from his perch in a nearby tree. (AN: You'll have to bear with me on the details regarding Sai's ink tigers cause I have no clue how it really works lol) Yamato appeared, grabbing Karin from the scene before disappearing with her to safety.
“Bring her back!” Sakura was screaming at the top of her lungs, killing the tiger on top of her as she scrambled to her feet. She listened intently, waiting for any sign of Yamato's movement. Easily dodging the kunai Sasuke threw at her she then jumped, avoiding an attack from a new tiger. A second took its chance to jump on her back, digging its claws into her shoulders as it pulled her to the ground. She could hear the soft pattering of Naruto's tears hitting the ground as they all watched the scene before them.
Karin trembled in fear, watching as she quickly killed one of the tigers just the second pinned her to the ground. None of them expected her next move. Naruto couldn't help but gape as her teeth grabbed around the tigers neck, ripping the jugulars out with one smooth pull of a chakra infused neck. Sasuke paled as she spit the remains from her mouth, black ink staining her porcelain face. As she stood she realized her mistake the instant a poisin tipped kunai pierced the back of her neck. Her body went weak though she struggled to lift her hands, her headband having loosened and now falling. She fell to a heap on the forest floor as she heard their gasps and whispers. Tears leaked from her closed eyes as she lay powerless on the forest floor.
The scar was hideous to say the least. It ran its jagged path all the way across her face, digging in deep across the bridge of her nose. The scare continued across her eyelids, obviously having been deep enough to go straight through. She managed to pull a hand to her face, covering as much as she could as she screamed. She didn't care about fighting or killing Karin at this moment. She only wanted them to stop looking.
“Look away!” A strong voice sounded as a new figure landed beside her fallen form, scrambling to pick up her lost headband and return it to its proper place. “Its okay Sakura. I promise they aren't looking.”
“Kakashi…” She cried softly as he helped retie her headband, making sure it was covering the scar she wanted to hide from the world. She trusted him not to grimace away once he looked upon her; after all he had scars too. She listened to his quiet apologies as he wrapped a chakra draining rope around her arms, not bothering with more at the moment. She didn't respond when he pulled her into a warm embrace that she hadn't known for three years…how long was it now? Oh yes.
“Three years…” She chocked out to him in a tiny voice. “Two months.” Sasuke and Naruto turned their heads to listen to the broken girl they once knew. “Six days.” A single tear fell from Sai's emotionless face as he landed beside the group. “Thirteen hours.” Kakashi's hold on her tightened as her words tore all their hearts to pieces. “Thirty three minutes.” Yamato appeared in the small area with Karin trembling softly beside him. “And forty eight seconds.” Karin suddenly bolted into the forest and just as they all moved to catch her they froze, replaying Sakura's final words before she passed out in their heads. “Since she did this to me…”
