Naruto and Sakura, Naruto

I have a smile stretched from ear to ear

To see you walking down the road

We meet at the lights, I stare for a while

The world around us disappears

It's just you and me on my island of hope

A breath between us could be miles

Let me surround you, a sea to your shore

Let me be the calm you seek

Sakura walked down the street and paused, seeing Naruto walking from the opposite way towards her. He paused and looked at her, “Hey Sakura!” Naruto smiled in his corny little way and waved at her.

She smiled a bit, “Hey Naruto.” as they came closer, she felt a bit happier, a bit more feminine, a bit more like she belonged.

He felt as if he had to tell her. “Hey uhm…Sakura?”

“Yea?”

“…Nevermind .” he couldn’t. She loved Sasuke, it was clear.

Sakura smiled and nodded, “So…what are you doing here?”

“I’m out for a walk.” he said and looked to the side.

Sakura nodded, “Same.”

They looked at each other and for a moment, the world stopped spinning. The sun stopped burning. The moon stopped messing with the ocean’s current.

But everytime I'm close to you

And you just walk away

Sakura broke the silence, “So are you still trying to become the Hokage?”

Naruto smirked and gave a thumbs up, “Consider me the Hokage already!”

Sakura gave a small laugh, she loved Naruto’s spirit. If only she had half of it. But he thought the same of her. He loved hearing her voice, seeing her green eyes light up, he wanted to know she’d be alright forever. He wanted to protect her at all costs.

Sakura bowed a bit, “But…hey, I’ll see ya later in training, huh?”

Naruto nodded, “Yea, see ya.”

They stayed in the same place.

And I forgot to tell you

I love you

And the night's too long

And cold here

Without you

I grieve in my condition

For I cannot find the words to say

I need you so

Sakura blushed a bit, pushing her hair back, “yea…so I guess I’ll be going?”

Naruto stepped to the same side she did. “Oh, sorry.” he stepped to the other side and she did the same at the same time.

Sakura giggled a bit, “Are you gonna let me pass?”

‘No.’ Naruto thought and then smirked, “Ok…I go this way, you go that way.”

“I go that way and you go this way?”

“No, I go this way and you go that way!” Naruto teased her.

“Oh Naruto!” she laughed, “Move already!”

But they both stayed in place. ‘I don’t…want to.’ Naruto thought.

‘I don’t want you to.’ Sakura thought as she looked into his eyes.

Sakura and Naruto looked away at the same time. “Hey Naruto?”

“Yea?” he asked hoping she would say something so he could narrowly tell her how he felt as well.

“Thanks. For everything you’ve done.” Sakura smiled a bit and looked down, “I know I haven’t been the nicest person but you really come through when I need you the most.” she gave him a hug.

He froze in place as he felt her warmth against his body. He embraced her, afraid that if he let go, she’d literally disappear. “Don’t mention it…”

And I forgot to tell you

And the night's too long

And cold here

I grieve in my condition

As they pulled away, they both immediately missed the warmth of each other’s arms. “So…like I said before, I’ll see you at training?” Sakura smiled up at him.

“Yea huh.” Naruto said as he stared into her eyes.

“Something wrong, Naruto?” she asked.

“I…can’t…find words.” he said as if in a daze, stepping closer to her.

“Neither can I when you’re around.” she said truthfully.

He lowered his head down to hers and as their lips touched, Sakura reached up around his neck and pulled him closer.

Naruto wrapped his arms around her waist and did the same.

When the kiss subsided, they both blushed and bowed, parting finally.

Tomorrow, at training, it would be awkward, but for that moment, it felt completely right. ‘I love you Sakura.’ Naruto thought as he watched her walk away.

‘I love you.’ Sakura thought and turned a bit to wave at Naruto, “See ya at training!” as if nothing occurred.

But they both knew different.

Felt different.

We’re different.
