The sand charged towards Sasuke, who was running towards Gaara with the chidori emitting from his palm.

Damn all this sand! Thought Sasuke furiously, as he dodged a wave of sand, one after the other. The sand whipped around, wrapping itself around Sasuke's leg. "Damn!" yelled Sasuke, as the sand began to wrap around his body, using the lightening edge, he attempted to free himself, but the sand endlessly replenished itself, leaving him, once again nearly smothered in sand. Accumulating all his chakra into his feet, and with his sharingan blazing in his pupils, He sped towards Gaara with incredible speed, whipping past Gaara's sand shield, and kicked him in his face. Gaara rolled onto the forest floor, with blood flowing down from the wound. Slowly standing up, Gaara stared at Sasuke with the same eyes that people saw before they were killed, a small smile crept onto his face, and his tongue slid across his lips.

Tell me im not too late ... Kari thought as she zoomed past trees in search for Gaara and Sasuke. She felt their presence close by, and sped up. As the trees cleared up, exposing Sasuke once again covered in sand.

"SASUKE!!! GAARA!!! STOP IT!!!" Kari shouted with her last ounce of breath. Gaara and Sasuke stopped dead in their tracks, and turned to face Kari, who was keeling over, gasping for air. "Kari ..." whispered Gaara and Sasuke at the same time.
The sand around Sasuke dispersed and made its way back to Gaara. Tears splattered onto the forest floor, then Kari gave away onto her knees, with her hands covering her mint green eyes. "Why?!" she whispered…

"Kari…" said Sasuke

"Why are you doing this? You'll just hurt yourselves!" Kari shouted at them. Then suddenly Gaara hugged Kari from the back. "Im sorry, I guess I should leave…" then he stood up, looking at Sasuke.

===SASUKE'S POV===

I know the meaning of that look. I nodded, this fight isn't over yet, until no one wins, this isn't over… I looked at Kari, it hurt to see her in a situation like this, being in the middle of everything. I can't help but to fall for her. She sat there in silence, so I decided to break her misery, "Come, I want to show you something." I told her, she raised her face and looked at me, her eyes still red from crying, her face damp with tears, it broke my heart to see her like that. I smiled at her and took her hand, I carried her to the top of the nearest tree. I saw her eyes widen with awe as she looked at the sunrise, I saw her smile, I knew somehow that it would cheer her up. I decided that it was the right time to say what I've wanted to say before. I hugged her tightly and whispered,

"I want to let you know, that I'm always here for you, always…"

I felt her arms hug me in return, she smiled and said, "I know Sasuke-kun, I know…"

Sasuke then remembered that they had training that day, she shook Kari slightly, "I think we ought to meet the others now."

"You're right." She said as she leapt gracefully and landed on the ground below. Sasuke followed.

At the bridge, a pink-haired kunoichi and a very loud Naruto waited patiently. Soon enough, Sasuke arrived, followed by Kari.

"Good morning Naruto-kun, Sakura-chan… has sensei arrived yet?" Kari asked.

"Well can you see him around?" Naruto said aloud, obviously getting impatient in waiting for the silver-haired jounin. It has been the daily routine of Team 7, waiting for the late sensei.

Sakura noticed Sasuke's wounds and started talking to him about it. "Sasuke-kun? You're hurt, what happened?!"

"Its none of your business."

"But I could help you."

"If I considered it, I would have asked for it."

"Then why don't you?"

"Because I don't need it, and if you don't mind, please leave me alone, you're really annoying me." Sasuke finished.

Sakura backed away as if being hit by a kunai.

"Sasuke that's not a very nice thing to do!" Naruto shouted.

"Hn…" was all Sasuke answered.

Kari went to Sakura. "Don't mind him, im quite sure he didn't mean it." She said to her.

"How can you tell?" Sakura retorted.

"Uh…well…" she bowed her head. "I was just trying to help."

Then *poof*, the late jounin finally arrived. "Im sorry I forgot to set the alarm clock." Silence. "Well that's something new, now tell me why you're all quiet. You all in a game or something?"

"Sensei, just quit it." Sasuke finally spoke.

Kakashi noticed Sasuke's wounds. "Oh, and would you like to tell me how you got those."

"Its nothing."

"As your sensei, I need to know!"

"No you don't"

"Yes I do"

"No you don't"

"Yes I do"

"No you don't"

"No I don't"

"Yes you do"

"Ha! I got you there, now tell me what happened." Kakashi insisted.

This finally got Sasuke angry. "I had a fight with Gaara! There happy?!" he shouted.

"There's no need to get angry. Now if you please come sit with me and have a talk."

Sasuke hesitated at first but did what he was asked to do anyway, the three followed. Kari sat in silence with her head bowed, as the three waited for Sasuke to start.

"So, why did you fight?"

"It was because of me…" Kari finally said as tears came out from her eyes. "Its all my fault."

"I knew it was your fault from the start!" shouted Sakura.

"No you didn't!"

"Yes I did"

"You're just pretending"

"Why should I?"

"To impress your dear Sasuke, oh come on Sakura, just admit it."

"Wha…what are you say…saying … Naruto?" Sakura stammered.

"Shut up! Don't you get it? He doesn't care for you, while I do!"

Sakura was plain stunned, and so was Naruto, none of them expected this sudden outburst from the Uzumaki they both have known, this Naruto is very different from the lively one they knew, this one is actually serious about his feelings.

The three stared at Sakura and Naruto, then Kakashi suddenly spoke, "I appreciated your defense for Sasuke, but it was totally exaggerated, because we are having a very serious discussion here, while the two of you are having your own conversations."

"Well, I didn't ask for you to listen to us did I?!" Naruto shouted.

"You didn't but it still concerns me as your jounin!"

"Kakashi-sensei, Naruto-kun please calm down…" Kari finally interrupted before any more words can be thrown.
