Here's the first chappie of Illusionary Chains!

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto, or the idea of TemaHina, or arranged marriages (which are totally unfair out of the context of this fanfic, btw).

WARNINGS: Yuri, TemaHina, arranged marriage, lemon, etc. Don't like, don't read, please refrain from complaining.

Summary: Hinata is forced into an arranged marriage. But will her heart and spirit be bound forever, like a bird in a cage, or are these chains mere illusions? And the lioness in her cage certainly isn't helping her decide… TemaHina yuri

“Otou-sama, you asked to see me?” Hinata asked her father, kneeling in front of him.

It had been a mere month since Naruto had left for his training trip with Jiraiya, and she missed her love greatly.

“Hai,” Hiashi replied. “It's about Naruto, and about your future and the future of the clan.”

Hinata resisted the urge to look up at her father in alarm. She had not liked the sound of that!

“I know of your… infatuation with the Uzumaki boy, and I am sorry to say that it cannot be. Even if he does become Hokage, you will not be able to marry him.”

“Why not?” Hinata asked, an unusual edge of anger to her voice.

“Because of who he is, and who his father was! And because the council doesn't want your genes passed down to future generations of clan leaders.” Hiashi almost yelled. Almost though, not quite. He was barely able to rein in his temper. It wasn't that he was mad at Hinata, but at the situation and at the Hyuuga council. He knew his daughter loved the boy, and that it would be a huge blow to her to never be allowed children of her own, simply because she got unlucky when she was born

It had been proved via medical examination that her Byakugan was not only unusually weak, but a mutation had occurred in the genes that made it up, meaning that it was counterproductive and potentially dangerous to have her genes passed down to any Hyuuga, let alone heirs.

“And who might his father be?!?” Hinata asked/ snapped. She had never heard of Naruto's father! And why would it prevent them from marrying?

She wasn't even going to dwell on the council. They had made both her life and Neji's life hell since before she could remember. Plus, she knew she was weak.

But she could marry and still not have kids! Tsunade could take away her ability to bear children, or she could simply use contraceptives.

“Uzumaki Naruto is the son of Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina. This was information made available only to those who were close to them, the Council of Konoha, and the heads of the Hyuuga, Uchiha, Yamanaka, Inuzuka, Nara, Akimichi, and Aburame clans. Not even the clan councils, or the siblings and spouses of the clan heads were to know. It will be revealed someday, though, when Tsunade decides that Naruto is strong enough to ward off Namikaze-sama's enemies,” her father explained.

Hinata was quiet, soaking it all in. “Then why can't I marry him? Surely it would be a great benefit to the Hyuuga clan if we were to form an alliance with the last of the Uzumaki and the Namikaze clan.”

Hiashi sighed, immensely sorry for his daughter. “Because he was put into an arranged marriage before his birth. I have not been permitted to learn to whom, though. Only the Hokage, the parents of his intended, and Jiraiya-sama know.”

Hinata didn't say anything, but her shoulders slouched and her eyes dimmed ever so slightly.

“You are of marriageable age, and the council demands that I find you a spouse. War will be upon us shortly, and there is no certainty that there will be time later.”

“Who am I to marry?” Hinata asked in a dull voice.

“She's right outside the door,” Hiashi said, before raising his voice to call out, “You may come in now.”

Hinata turned around to see the screen door sliding open to reveal the last person on Earth she would've expected to marry.

It made sense if she thought about it, though.

“Te-Temari!”

Is this too plot-no-jutsu-y? Please tell me…

Actually, if you think about it, Hinata being married off to Temari makes sense. After the relatively recent Sand-Sound invasion, a marriage between the Yondaime Kazekage's daughter (who will later be the sister of the Godaime Kazekage) and the heiress of the most prestigious clan in Konoha would go a long way to improving relations and preventing a future invasion.

Translations:

Hokage: literally Fire Shadow, the Hokage is the military leader of Konoha and is either chosen by the previous Hokage or by the council.

Kazekage: literally Wind Shadow, the Suna equivalent of the Hokage

Konoha: Leaf/ Leaves/ The Leaf. Short for The Village Hidden in the Leaves (Konohagakure). Where most of the story takes place.

Suna: Sand. Where Gaara, Temari, and Kankurou are from

Yondaime: The Fourth (Title). Means the fourth leader or something along those lines.

Godaime: The Fifth (Title)

Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina: the names of Naruto's parents. Namikaze Minato is the Yondaime Hokage.
