BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP….Naruto groaned, and slammed the clock against the wall. Another day of training with group 7. Another day of no ramen, because Tsunade-san had been convinced by Iruka-sensei that eating only ramen everyday was bad for him because he would get sick.
Sitting up in his bed, Naruto rubbed his eyes, yawned and stretched in his catlike way. The way he did every morning. As he stood up to go to the kitchen, a knock on the door was heard. Stumbling to the door through the small kitchen, he opened it.
“What do you want Teme?” Naruto asked tiredly.
Taking a look at Naruto's attire, Sasuke tried to not think how sexy Naruto looked. He wore his night clothes still, which was a pair of black pants with an orange stripe down the sides, and nothing on top, with the exception of the necklace Tsunade had gambled off to Naruto.
“We're needed at the Hokage's tower in 10 minutes.” Sasuke answered walking into Naruto's apartment.
Naruto growled under his breath, he hated when people came in unannounced, “Get ready Dobe, I don't want to be late.”
“Then leave, I'll be there soon.”
“Kakashi-sensei ordered me to make sure you're not late.” Sasuke answered. “Kakashi arrived early for once, and ordered me to wake you up.”
Naruto gave a surprised look at having heard that Kakashi was early, seeing as how he was always late to everything, sometimes even missions. Muttering under his breath about too early, Naruto left Sasuke in the kitchen after closing the door, and went to change. All his clothes being dirty, Naruto had no chose but to wear the clothes Tsunade had told Iruka to buy him, which were all black and red clothes, because Iruka had told him it would look good on him. Throwing on a red tight shirt and the baggy black pants with a black studded belt, Naruto slowly walked to the connecting bathroom, washed up and ran back into the kitchen where Sasuke sat eating an apple.
“Naruto Uzumaki is ready to go.” Running to the door, Naruto tripped and fell to the ground. Holding his stomach he stood and pouted.
“I'm hungry. Can we stop and get ramen…Please?” Naruto gave a puppy face.
“No.” Sasuke knew he would ask, so he had brought Naruto an apple. Throwing it at his face, Naruto caught it in the air and smiled.
“Thanks Teme!” Cheerfully, Naruto walked out the door, biting into the apple watching as Sasuke walked out and locked the door behind him.
As they walked down toward the Tower, Sasuke couldn't help but stare at Naruto, his muscular arms showing through the black t-shirt. Sasuke also couldn't help but give death glares to those who dared look at Naruto.
“Hey, Teme why is everyone looking scared when they glance over at us?” Naruto asked as he watched a young man back away slightly in fright and hesitation.
“Hn. How should I know?” Sasuke said as he gave another death glare to another passerby.
Naruto just shrugged and continued watching people cringe and look away from himself and Sasuke.
Upon reaching the Hokage's tower, Naruto slammed open the door.
“So, what's the mission for today Old Lady?” Naruto asked cheerfully. Sakura's eyes widened and covered Naruto's mouth fast.
“He didn't mean it!” Sakura said with a nervous laugh, her inside persona was screaming with fists up, Naruto! You baka!
The Hokage's temple shot out, everyone watched anxiously for her next move. Tsunade simply strained a smile and said, “Good morning Naruto. Today you will be going on a high ranked mission. You are the best team that I have right now that is available, so I have no chose but to send you all. This involves the Akatsuki members. We have heard that they are on the move once again.”
Naruto narrowed his eyes. He had met Itachi and Deidara once. It was the day they had tried taking him away, the day he had his first mission at the age of 10. Now he was 17, and a jounin, along with Sakura and Sasuke. Kakashi was also a jounin, but he was still higher ranked then all three of them, making him their sensei.
“Explain.” Sasuke said.
“Team 7, you will be tracking them down. As far as I know, only Itachi has been spotted, so you will somehow spy on him and get as much information on him as you can.”
“When do we leave?” Naruto asked.
“Today, so grab your travel packs and head on out.” Tsunade answered. Waving them off, they all disappeared to their homes.
Naruto stuffed as many clothes as he could, and still not having any of his other clothes cleaned, he grabbed all his new clothes and stuffed it into his bag, along with a tooth brush, soap, and his money.
Meeting up at Konoha's entrance gate, he saw he was the first once, so he sat down and waited for the rest of his team members. A few moments later, Sasuke arrived, then Sakura, and 5 minutes later, Kakashi.
As they left Konoha, they traveled for a while in silence, well as silent as Naruto could be. He talked non stop until they reached night time, were they stopped for a break. Sakura, tired of hearing Naruto talk, set up her tent fast, put on her headphones, and told Kakashi he would be staying on watch first. With that said she disappeared into her tent and left the boys by themselves.
Kakashi set up his tent and then jumped up into a high tree were he would be out of sight, just in case. Naruto looked over at Sasuke as he set up his tent.
“Um, Sasuke?”
“Hn?” He didn't look up from his tent.
“I kinda forgot my tent.” Naruto said embarrassed.
“Dobe.” Sasuke turned to look at Naruto, who stood not too far away looking at him with desperation on his eyes.
“It looks like it'll rain.” Kakashi yelled from up on his tree top somewhere.
“Get in Dobe.” Sasuke said defeated.
Naruto smiled his famous goofy smile and jumped onto Sasuke thanking him. Sasuke just pushed Naruto off, trying to keep his face from showing how much he enjoyed it, and told Naruto to just get in and sleep.
“I'm on watch next, so I don't want to be disturbed, go it?” Sasuke told Naruto.
Before Naruto could answer though, thunder could be heard near them, and Naruto had jumped under the covers of the blanket. Sasuke raised an eyebrow, amusement showing on his face.
“Don't tell me that great Kyuubi is afraid of thunder?” Sasuke teased. Naruto just glared, but Sasuke thought it only looked cute instead of threatening.
Sasuke climbed under the blanket and tried falling asleep, but it was hard, considering that Naruto kept jumping up whenever he heard the thunder getting closer.
“Naruto, I need my sleep!” Sasuke said frustrated.
“But I can't sleep when I'm scared,” Was the response.
Sasuke did the only thing he could think of. He pulled Naruto back down next to him and pulled him close, so Naruto was lying next to him. He rapped his arms around Naruto, who was too shocked to do anything.
“Now go to sleep.” Sasuke said hoping Naruto couldn't see the blush he knew was on his cheeks.
Just as Naruto was about to protest about being so close to Sasuke, he heard a loud thunder and it started raining hard, with the wind howling, and lighting flashing in the sky. Naruto jumped and hid his face in Sasuke's chest. Sasuke just pretended to ignore Naruto and soon fell asleep, not noticing how he had pulled Naruto even closer, and how his head seemed to rest on Naruto's bright hair.
